I'm having trouble removing the plastic engine cover on my 2008 Sonata. I removed the two 10mm nuts on top and can raise the front part up, but the rear won't release...so what's holding it on and how do I release the rear side?

I was told not to worry about the sound because its just the engine cover rattling a bit, but it is rather annoying. It makes quite a racket. Should I just take the cover off?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry XLE V6 that needs new spark plugs and the first thing to remove is the plastic engine cover. I do not see any screws or bolts attaching it down and I would like to know the proper way to remove it without damaging it or the plugs holding it down. How to do this?
View 3 RepliesWas told my Sonata has a leak at the Timing Cover Gasket by two different service stations. Took it to the Hyundai Dealership and they said they would need to pull the engine out to fix it and it would take a couple of days. I read on a couple of other posts that people were able to replace the timing cover gasket themselves. So, I don't understand why the Dealership said the engine would need to be pulled, but I'm reading others say they fixed it without pulling the engine. Am I missing something...? I'd rather not have the engine pulled out if it doesn't need to be.
2008 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 L 2359 CC L4 DOHC 16 Valve.
I have a 07 Sonata and having recurring valve cover leak. First time it happened it leaked onto my alternator and had to get car towed and whole bit. About a year later they discovered it again during routine oil change and had it fixed again. Yesterday during a routine oil change, they discovered a leak again!! I know this is an established problem but how many times can the same problem occur?? I'm passed the warranty (103K).
View 3 Replies2006 v6 Sonota had the passenger side CV axle break apart. I have the wheel spindle moved away axle but off and all that. There is a bearing mid-way on the axle which I have removed 3 bolts attaching it to the motor. The bearing just seems to not want to come off the motor. This is how it's done right? How to remove this bearing and get the axle out?
View 6 RepliesI tried to remove the MAF in 2007 Sonata Limited, and could not figure out how. I removed a cap by lifting the tabs on the sides, but the connector with the wires was still attached. I flipped over and saw another kind of tab on the bottom and seemed to be tricky to be disengaged. I did not want to go further because I broke Toyota ignitor connector not too long ago so I know some of the connectors with plastic tabs can be delicate. I want to make sure it is more clear to me before I proceed further.

View 5 RepliesI have an 09 SE, In the center area under the radio I had a access card slide over the open bottom door into the abyss where I lost a tire gauge and who knows what else lurks in there. It was supposed to go in the top open area but the person just put it on the open door and it slid back and fell.
How to remove the side panels that run from the console in the center to under the dash? I need to access the area under the dash below the 2 storage areas.
I am assuming you take the screws out on the side and possibly pop the shift indicator panel out and lift the console off? Seems a little overkill unless there is an easier way. I really don't want to experiment and break anything.
My girlfriends 06 Sonata 4cyl threw a p0011 code a week or so ago. I looked online and saw that it could be dirty oil so I immediately changed it (it was about 400 miles overdue at that point). I also looked on the forums here and was referred to a thread that suggested replacing the oil control valve. My girlfriend drove to work a few times before I fixed it (maybe a 100 miles total) and the car stalled out in the middle of an intersection. I then replaced the OCV and to my discontent the problem was still very present. Very loud knocking or clanking under the valve cover and sluggish idle. Her mechanic now says that it is a job for a hyundai dealership and that it could be something as bad as a head or engine rebuild. What the problem could be?
View 2 RepliesI'm suspecting a small valve cover gasket leak. I've noticed dirt starting to accumulate near the alternator side of the front valve cover, there is dirt on there stuck to oil, I don't see any wet oil but its so minor the dirt just sticks to it. 107k miles here. Seems to be a common problem. I think Downhiller had a large oil leak, source unknown around his crank pulley area. You wouldn't think a car this young would leak oil. It's not bad, I havn't had to top any off I just like a mildly clean engine.

I'm in the process of changing all the fluids and am wondering if there is room to pull the front differential cover off to clean the gunk out of the bottom of the front differential. It looks tight and I'm wondering if the differential or the steering rack and pinion need to be removed to remove the cover or if there is just enough room?
