I bought my Sonata new in 2008, it has 55K miles on it.
This morning I put the drivers side window down, no problems, and when I went to close it, there was a grinding noise and the window wouldn't move.
I'm wondering if this would be covered under the 5/60K mile warranty?
Today I was going to wash my car and rolled my driver's window down on the way there. When I got to the car wash I attempted to roll my driver's side window back up. It nudged ever so slightly up about a quarter inch and then nothing. It had totally stopped. I fiddled with the switch and it would go back down completely but when attempting to roll the window back up it would sometimes not move at all, move ever so slightly or move just about a quarter of an inch and stop. Is it possible to just get the window up manually in order to at least block the elements? I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I should do. I'm tempted to run to the drug store and grab some packing tape to seal the window off.
View 8 RepliesRecently my '02 drivers window quit going down. The motor and assembly will go down, but the window stays up.
I could lower the window carefully with my hands, and it would go back up like it should, but if I wanted to take it down again I would have to do it with my hands.
Now its at the point where the power assembly still works, but the window acts like its stuck if I try to take it down using my hands, and only goes about 1 inch then sticks. But it will go back to its 'home' position when I use the up button.
I thought this would be a minor inconvenience and I could tolerate it for awhile, but I never realised just how much I use that window.
So, what may have happened, and how to go about correcting it?
I have a problem with my drivers window, it will only work sometimes. It will just stop working, and to get it working again I have to mess with the window switch, pressing it up and down, up and down, sometimes locking and unlocking the windows a few times will get it to work. There is nothing that I have noticed that makes it start working faster, or stop working, it just decides on its own. I was thinking it might be the window regulator, but I wasn't sure if it would be that because it still works sometime?
View 4 RepliesSo, my driver's side window decided to die on me. When hitting the auto-up botton the window would go up 3/4 of the way and then atomatically go down. This happened the other day and when I tried to do it again, I heard a click. Then the window wouldn't move at all. So, now I hear clicking when hitting the window button, but no motor sounds or window movement.
To me this sounds like a dead motor and not the regulator. Do other's agree? I'd like to purchase just the motor and not both.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. About 3 months back I noticed that the driver side window won't come down. When the switch is first depressed, I hear a sound like the motor is trying to kick-in but the window doesn't move.
What might be wrong, what I should look for and instructions.

It will either lower and then not come back up, or not lower when the button is pressed.
Most of the time the button is tilted downward.

View 8 RepliesMy car has many new dents and scratches (Got some scratches on my hood due to my awesome snow scrapper, and a mysterious new dent on my bumper that I saw after I washed some salt off). Anyway scratches I can deal with. It's just this bit of rust that's bothering me. It's on the rear driver side window pane.
View 6 RepliesWe have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited Edition. The problem started when the rear diver side door window stopped working. we took apart the door and saw that the cable was all twisted. We found the part at a junkyard and replaced it. Window worked. We closed the door and didn't think twice. A few hours later we tried to open the door and it's stuck. Both inside and outside handles move but nothing happens. The door won't open at all, what to do. We obviously can't get the door off without it opening. What may be causing this??

Drivers switch is flashing , if I push the switch down wether all the way or half way window works manually . When I pull on the switch half way up window doesn't work, pull all the way up it works manually. No auto window at all .
View 7 RepliesWhen pulling down my drivers window and then pulling it up it gets stuck half way up. I have to push the window hard toward the outside while pressing the button to get it back up. If I am pulling down the window and stop before this point, I have no problem pulling it up again.

Came off it's track and has fallen into the door. Is there a thread on a rescue attempt that includes removing the inner door panels?
View 3 RepliesMy rear windows, driver's side mostly was stuck...on and off, mostly off...since I bought Kitacamry 2 years ago, and discovered this...(for search engine users the title identifies potential sources for the problem)...
The windows were so snug that they stuck to the rubber if not used much, and here in south Florida they're hardly used, and often would not roll down...sometimes they would but not always...dealers thought it was the motor, or the regulator or the switch...and who could blame them?
I've discovered that it's not the regulator, and that the motor was just not strong enough to "break the seal" of the rubber.
I recently had a regulator repaired (a screw was loose) and noticed that the shop sprayed the rubber with silicone and that made the window glide much more smoothly...soooo....
I sprayed the other windows' rubber seals...and WOW....all open and glide down and up smooth as silk...If your windows are stuck....give silicone spray a shot...
Rolling up windows last night and all my windows go up except for drivers side. I can hear the motor so that's not the problem, I believe the window got taken out of its 'tracks' and is loose in the door. I can hear it moving around in there when I am driving and opening and closing the door. I am trying to be very fragile with it, how to take the door off so I can see the interior of that door.
