Recently got quite a noticable clunk/knock from the front driver side of my '10 Sonata with the 2.4.
Only happens at low speeds, most notably in parking lots.
My best guess is a stabilizer link or a ball joint.

Proud second owner of a nice passat wagon auto with 94k miles.. Slightly worsened the last 10k miles is an occasional clunk from up front, driver side..
What seems to happen is say slowing down to a red lite, when it suddenly turns green so the throttle input either causes an engine mount or something to do with second gear makes a clunk.. if I'm real smooth with the gas pedal I can avoid this noise.. and if I run the engine all out thru the gears I don't notice it.. The car is stock..
I have an 06 grand Prix, about a month ago I started hearing a knock on the front driver side n it has gotten worst. At first I thought it could be a hub bearing or tire rod ends but I noticed service abs and traction system lights are on.

View 1 RepliesI got some coilovers installed last night, they are ksports. i have them on fairly low height as of now but i have noticed every time I hit bumps, I hear a kthunk (metal hitting metal noise) from my front driver side. is it from the coilover nuts itself or something wrong with my control arm? the sound ONLY comes from the front DRIVER side.
View 4 Replies06 Sonata GLS V-6 ... While driving and you hit a dip in the road I get a clunk. It only happens when the tire has to drop suddenly. When it bumps up it's quiet. I live 1 1/2 hours from a reputable repair place, over 2 1/2 hours from a Hyundai dealer.
View 2 RepliesI've been having this ongoing clunk in the front of my 06 Avalon for about a month now. When I slightly hit the brake i'm getting almost a metal on metal clunk sound from right in front of the drivers side wheel area, or possibly on the other side wheel well area, and not sure if its related but a popping noise when i turn my wheel a certain way it seems.
Replaced:
Both CV axles
Both Rotors
Both transmission mount and engine mount (left and right side)
Dog Bone torque bar on top
Drivers side caliper
Control arms
Struts were replaced 6 months ago, and reused old mounts, so I took it out and replaced the strut mount with the bearing on passenger side only.
Control arms have been replaced 4 or 5 times in 6 months because they keep cracking, they are being installed correctly and still having the issue, they're slightly cracked right now (many tiny little rips in the rubber rear bushing of the front control arms) perhaps this is the problem and they're flexing too far? They're Dorman and ordered off of amazon. I have 2 replacement ones arriving tomorrow and will throw them in.
124k miles. I have had multiple shops look at it and cant figure it out, they said everything is tight. One shop said it was internal transmission.
I have been hearing/feeling an occasional noise from my front end. Not a low-freq "thud" more like something sticky. Usually at very slow speeds, when turning the wheel, going over uneven pavement, or pulling away from stop. It sounds and feels to me like a steering rack issue, but maybe CV joints? 40k miles, 6-spd manual no mods.

The noise: there is a loud pop/cluck/knock from the front drivers side footwell, can sometimes be felt in the pedals
When it occurs: Most frequently it occurs on deceleration. Letting off the gas, there is a slight delay then the noise. It doesn't happen every time. The intensity of it is very sporadic and unpredictable. In stop and go traffic, it is typically the worst, gently accelerate, let off the gas, loud clunk. During other normal driving, accelerate up to normal (55mph) speed, let off gas, quieter clunk, intermittent. Infrequently it makes the noise when I shift into reverse. I can also hear it faintly when i start the car sometimes.
There seems to be very little correlation to vehicle speed and the noise. It is typically louder at low.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
View 18 RepliesSo I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!
I have an 09 Limited with the dual automatic climate control. It finally got cool enough to start running the heater. The passenger side vents are throwing cold air instead of warm like the drivers side. This includes the windshield defroster. I'm thinking there is a diverter "somewhere" that is not working properly.

View 6 RepliesJust got a 2012 Limited 2.0T about 3 weeks ago. Didn't notice until last week that there is a noise coming from drivers front tire area at low speed (15-20mph). It sounds like a thin piece a metal is getting snagged and then snapping back into place. Took it back to Hyundai and they pulled the wheel and said everything looks fine and that it's due to new brakes needing to "wear in". At the time it was very limited when you would hear it, in the past week it's increased to an almost constant noise until I get over 20mph. I've searched and can't find anything dealing with this particular noise, what exactly I should look for when I pull everything apart? I'm more inclined to try and fix myself than believe the dealer. I can't seem to isolate it to a particular thing when driving, it does it on turns, going straight, stopping, accelerating.
View 9 RepliesI have a problem with my drivers window, it will only work sometimes. It will just stop working, and to get it working again I have to mess with the window switch, pressing it up and down, up and down, sometimes locking and unlocking the windows a few times will get it to work. There is nothing that I have noticed that makes it start working faster, or stop working, it just decides on its own. I was thinking it might be the window regulator, but I wasn't sure if it would be that because it still works sometime?
View 4 RepliesSo, my driver's side window decided to die on me. When hitting the auto-up botton the window would go up 3/4 of the way and then atomatically go down. This happened the other day and when I tried to do it again, I heard a click. Then the window wouldn't move at all. So, now I hear clicking when hitting the window button, but no motor sounds or window movement.
To me this sounds like a dead motor and not the regulator. Do other's agree? I'd like to purchase just the motor and not both.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. About 3 months back I noticed that the driver side window won't come down. When the switch is first depressed, I hear a sound like the motor is trying to kick-in but the window doesn't move.
What might be wrong, what I should look for and instructions.
I have an 08 Sonata Limited. About a 3 months ago, a noise began appearing on the driver side, sounding like it was coming from the engine compartment, and it has become steadily worse.
Today, I am learned how to replicate the sound, but I cannot locate where it is coming from. Here is the scenario:
The sound is a squeaking, like 2 pieces of styrofoam being rubbed together. The sound comes and goes. The engine must be in Drive or Reverse, and under load, meaning the driver side tire must be on the ground. If I jack the car up so that the drivers side wheel is off the ground, and put it in D and let the tire turn freely the noise does not occur. The car does not need to be moving for the sound to occur; in fact, it sounds worse when the car is at rest.
Today, I jacked the car up and took off the drivers side front tire to see if I could identify the source of the noise. Later, I put the tire back on the hub, and without lowering the car, started to tighten the lug nuts. When, I tightened the nuts with a wrench, I began to slightly turn the axle and shift the location of the engine and lift it, and I heard the squeak! Obviously, the car was turned off, so I was able to repeatedly shake the wrench and slightly turn the wheel, which shook the engine, and repeat the squeak each time. I lowered the car and jacked up the passenger front side of the car and did the same thing; I was unable to get the sound to occur.
I could now identify the direction of the sound, and it was coming from under the air filter chamber. I tried removing the air filter box, but it is held in place by a rubber plug and the air intake tube. Unable to remove the box, I could not see exactly where the noise was coming from.
Is there a motor mount under the air intake box, or is there another part that may shift over time and begin to make this noise? My best guess is that when the car is in Drive and under load, the engine vibrations are causing something to make a squeaking sound.
When I ease off the gas in D i hear a clunking noise (not too loud) from the drivers side (and even feel a it a bit in the pedal) over the slightest road imperfections in the road. it is not as loud as bad strut mount noises i have heard on other cars. sounds somewhat like what slightly loose lug nuts sound like except its intermittent. Could it be the ball joints?
