I have a 2006 sonata and my alarm light on my dash board is blinking rapidly and then my blinker lights will turn on and stay on for a few seconds then it does everything all over again. My car has never done any of this except a slow blink in the red LED alarm light. I don't want my battery to die! Is there anything wrong with my car or is this normal?
View 1 RepliesMy wife's 2006 Honda CR-V has developed a mysterious issue where every minutes, and I mean to the second every 15 minutes, the car behaves as if the ignition switch was turned to the OFF position shutting off the engine. After about 10 seconds, the dashboard light blink as if the key has been turned to the ON and then we can start it. If we try to start it before the dash lights blink, the starter turns but nothing else happens. The immoblizer has been inspected and ruled out and, there are no error codes in the computer.

View 3 RepliesI thought I noticed this a few days back but figured it was my imagination... However, I confirmed it tonight... When coming home and going down my rather steep driveway, I noticed the third brake light blinking. It actually seemed rather consistent... I backed up the driveway, went back out for a minute and didn't notice anything, but then noticed it once again when going down our hill.
First and foremost, would this be covered under the say bumper-to-bumper warranty? I'm assuming it's a fault in the brake light switch. It seems to not be quite as bad the harder I brake.
Second, I seem to recall some kinds of brake switch issues... I know I've also had some TCS light issues (TCS OFF lit just today) but I always figured it was from my rather aggressive driving habits. Could this be related to a faulty switch?
My Alarm seems to be having an issue recently. When I hit the remote the doors lock but the lights do not flash and the beep is gone. When I hit the remote to unlock, the lights flash. Last Night I opened all the doors hood/trunk and shut everything and the lights flashed and it beeped. Since I have no door indicator lights I was wondering if there is a sensor where it thinks the hood is open possibly? I am at 57k so I am still under warranty. I had a Blazer years back when the alarm started acting up, they had to replace the computer one time and I think the battery the second time. But I don't think it is that. I did have some work done recently to put a blower motor and Brake light switch in. I did see reference in another thread from 2 years ago about the alarm for a different model car. 2009 Sonata 3.3 ....
View 6 RepliesI have a 06 sonata v6 with 120k. Today while driving the car started to lose power then the lights on the dash board flickered radio went nuts and the car lost all power. What could be causing this? Moved battery a little bit and got power back but then started driving and it did the same thing. I did have the heater on 2. You can feel it lose power while accelerating.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Camry. Recently, the dash board signal has started to turn on i.e. Battery,abs,brake, etc. when I accelerate. Around 1000 rams the light come on,then will turn off below the 1000 rpms. Now, at 2000 rpms the heater fan will increase speed to maximum.
I had the battery tested and it checked out ok. Could this be the alternator?
Randomly for the past couple of weeks, my 2009 2.4 automatic has the transmission letters on the dash rapidly flickering... ex.: driving in D, the display flickers D-P-D-P or D-N-D-N etc very fast. It's not happening in Tiptronic mode and the car is driving very well with excellent mileage.
From what i can see, this happens when the car is in motion only. My thought is a bad contact at a sensor somewhere that loses contact on and off with bumps in the road, but not when stopped? The car has only 50,000km.
It is still under extended warranty, therefore a 50$ deductible for any repair under warranty... whatever issue i had with this car was always intermittent so the dealer won't fix anything if they cannot see the issue and have the nasty habit of charging me like a half hour for trying to diagnose without success. Guess what happens every time I drop off at the dealer? issue not present of course.
My Prius would not start at all ( getting off from work last night. ) All kinds of flashing/blinking lights on the dashboard. Even the door locks won't work. I'll be calling my dealer first thing this morning.

I went to get something out of it the other day... Opened the door and it sounds like I've left the hazards on... There's a clicking coming from the dashboard and the overhead lights, and running board lights blink. If I shut the door, it stops.
Do I need to call in a priest?
I parked my 2010 gti at work this morning, walked away, hit the lock button, and noticed a red light on the drivers door that flashed rapidly then kept on blinking steadily indefinitely. i never noticed that before! so... what is that? the alarm? this may be REALLY dumb, but I did not know this car had an alarm!

I am trying to convert most of my lights to LEDs on my truck and figured that I'd replaced the tail lights with LEDs. After replacing both rear taillights with LEDS I still have the rapid blinking turn signal. Whats the deal? is it just the LEDS or what?
View 13 RepliesI have a 2000 EX V10 100K miles. Saturday my anti theft light started blinking rapidly and the truck would turn over but no fuel. No check engine light. Fires up if I use starter fluid. I have read online alot about PATS systems and keys so I tried my extra key.... Did not work. I am planning to try syncing the key with the truck again today. Whats next? I checked all fuses twice. I saw somewhere about the ECM? Might have an issue?
View 14 RepliesI am having issues with 2015 sonata sport. My car alarm has been going off randomly as well as lights flashing/beeping as if I was pushing lock button on key fob. I am not pushing any buttons and sometimes it will happen when The key fob is in my hand and I know I'm not pressing any buttons. When it does happen the little red light will flash on the key fob. I've tried using other key fob and have same issues with both. Also I have had to change the battery in both key fobs about 8 times thus far and I've only had the car a little over a year.
It does not happen all the time and I know if I take it in, my luck the car wont do it and they will tell me they don't see anything wrong. Sometimes the buttons wont work to unlock/lock the car and after a few minutes the car will beep and lights flash on their own and I will be able to then lock/unlock car again. This is getting very frustrating and it has become an annoyance for me and I'm sure my neighbors as well. I even will have people I work with come in and tell me my alarm is going off during my work shift.
I have a Hyundai Sonata 2011 all was fine until a couple days ago when I lock the doors using the remote I hear it click then in 20 minutes later the lights are blinking on and off. I use the remote to lock the doors again and the same thing happens. I replaced the battery in the remote , I also had the battery in the car checked. What could be triggering the lights to keep blinking ?
View 5 RepliesCurrently I have a 1998 Buick Century Custom having turn signal issues.
The front left blinker is not blinking. Understandably, with this malfunction, the rear left blinker blinks rapidly when the turn signal switch is in the left turn signal position. However, when I put the hazard lights on, BOTH rear blinkers blink normally as does the front right blinker.
When the headlights are on, the amber-colored blinker bulb remains lit (left front). The right side front and rear blinkers work great.
I have checked the fuses, replaced the bulb and cleaned the socket of the front left blinker and still have no results. While my next guess would be that the flasher unit is the problem, I don't believe the rear, or front right blinkers would blink if that was the problem.
Recently, I have had 3 instances where my car alarm suddenly goes off. All times, my car was parked in my garage, unlocked. The keys were sitting on the table and had not been touched.
The only thing is that I think the battery in my remote is started to get low I think but I don't really see how that would cause this issue.
I disconnected the battery cable and when I reconnected it the red 'theft' light began rapidly blinking on the dash and ignition/starting was disabled. followed owners manual advice using the key to unlocking drivers door (to re-set anti-theft device) but this did not work. Called two Ford dealers and both say have to tow car in for this to be fixed. Problem is, car is on an island with no towing service available. I'm thinking there must be a way around this. I have two original keys with the key fobs and neither works to fix it by unlocking the door.
View 7 RepliesMy 2002 Elantra (about 276,000km) had some kind of leak in a power steering return line. A mechanic looked at it, said I needed to order the replacement part from Hyundai. Got the part, the mechanic (not Hyundai) took 2 hours and fixed the line.
Driving away from the mechanic, I noticed the front right turn signal was blinking abnormally rapidly. Left turn signal is fine. I call the mechanic, tell him what's happening, and ask if it might be related to the power steering line fix (after all, they're both in the right front side of the vehicle). He swears up and down he touched nothing having to do with the turn signal.
Okay, maybe it's just a coincidence. I buy a new signal light and put it in. Same thing with the front right turn signal blinking too rapidly. While driving back from replacing the bulb, a car cut in front of me and I went to lay on the horn....nothing happened!! No sound. To top it off, for a while now, the dashboard lighting has been dimming slightly at certain times.
What could be causing all this? The alternator is fine, someone tested it.
