The airbag light in my 06 sonata has been on for the past couple days. And today I noticed when I was driving the car by myself the passenger seatbelt light was blinking and the passenger airbag light off bag wasn't lit? Even though there was no one in the passenger seat? I'm just wondering if there was ever a recall and if I should take it to the dealership.

However my passenger airbag stays off and the passenger seatbelt light blinks even when there's nobody sitting in the seat. When Someone does sit in the passenger seat with a seatbelt on, the light continues to blink along with the Airbag light showing off. How can I resolve this without going to the dealership?

Basicly someone kicked my passenger side seat, and now the AIRBAG OFF light is on and the seatbelt sensor for the passenger side is not working. i.e if i remove the seat belt while driving the sound wont come on and the light indicating seatbelt is not on (is always on).
View 3 RepliesFor the past 3 weeks or so (ever since it really started getting cold, highs in the 50F range or lower ) I've been having an issue where my seatbelt light on the dash will randomly light up and blink for a few seconds. I can find no rhyme or reason, it didn't appear to be linked to a loose buckle, or me going over bumps, or anything at all related to what my searches came up with for 'Seat belt light' on google and here on the forum. I had almost given up hope until a new symptom appeared.
A little less than 2 weeks ago I noticed that my battery light would also blink, very briefly, also seemingly at random. It could happen while sitting at a traffic light, or while cruising down the road at 60mph. Again, no apparent rhyme or reason. HOWEVER, every time the battery light would blink, even for a split second, the seatbelt light would then blink for about 6 seconds.
For clarification, I have seen the seatbelt light blink without the battery light, but I've never seen the battery light blink without the seatbelt light immediately starting to also blink.
So now that the battery light and the seatbelt light appeared to be linked, I figured that either my alternator or battery was giving out so I went by the auto part store to have them test it. Well, according to their fancy doohickey both the battery and the alternator are fine, but the battery was low on charge.
Well, I did some testing on my own with a multimeter attached to the battery and while the battery does still read low (~12.5V), it doesn't sag under load with the engine off and the alternator appears to be putting out the appropriate ~14.2V expected.
So I am now at a loss as to what to try. I've checked all the electrical connections I can get my hands/wrenches on and they all look good and tight with no corrosion. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to buy a new alternator and throw it on.

I have a Sonata 2008 4 cyl. I started getting Airbag and passenger seat-belt signs blinking. Whenever a passengers seats the seat-belt light does not blink, but airbag warning on my dashboard is still turned on. I went to the dealer and they told me to replace the cushion for the passenger.

View 10 RepliesI noticed something strange in my '12 SE. When going around a long sweeping curve, the passenger seatbelt light will blink. It only happens when I'm pushing it thru the turn. It stops as soon as I straighten the wheel. I do usually have my lunch box sitting in that seat, but it weighs less than 2lbs. I'm guessing the seatbelt sensor takes a lot less weight to activate it since I know the forces of the curve is not making my lunchbox weigh 40lbs, which would make the "airbag off" light go out.
View 4 RepliesI just had my oil changed today and while driving home the red airbag light came on in the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag light on the dash started flashing. When I connected the passenger seatbelt the flashing light went off. While in the dealer also tightened some screws in the center console. I have an under the seat subwoofer that is VERY snug...could that have damaged something when the seat was slid back?

View 2 RepliesMy 09 Matrix passenger seatbelt/Airbag Alarm light started to come off intermittently a few months ago. It often came off in a cold morning (when temperature dropps below 40F) after driving for 30+miles. I have taken it to a mechanics and they found an airbag code. They cleared the code but cannot find the root cause. I saw from some online forum that it happened to a lot 05 Matrix and repair involves replacing the clock assembly eventually. It seems to be odd since it only happened to me when it is cold and after some driving. I suspect that it has something to do with the battery since the battery output voltage may be the only thing I can think of that can be temperature dependant.

View 3 RepliesWe have had a 2006 Prius for almost 2 years now. In the past few months the passenger airbag seemed to become intermittent where the light would say "Off" even with a passenger. More recently it stays that way all the time. Also, the seatbelt warning light does not come on with a passenger when this light says "Off." In my early searches, I found some references to problems with the wiring harness, so I fiddled under the seat.
On two separate occasions I have unplugged and plugged in one of the connections and the airbag works. The first time, it only worked once. The second time, it worked for about a day. The first time, the car was off when I unplugged it. The second time, I foolishly did it while we were going down the interstate. When I plugged it back in, the red malfunction light came on. We turned the car off next time traffic stopped and it worked as it should when we turned it back on. I don't know if it might be the pin connectors, loose wires, or something else completely.
I have hooked up an amplifier in my 06 sonata.For that i had disconnected the battery for around 4 hours.After finishing the installation i reconnected the battery started the car now airbag light is constantly on. What should i do?
View 6 RepliesI have two Sonatas, an 08 and 09 both limited and both 4 cylinders. On the 09 I treated myself to a custom leather and wood steering wheel. I disconnected the battery and let the car sit for a couple hours before starting swap. Then took my time and disconnected all wires and used a puller to remove the old wheel. Transferred the cruse and radio switches to the new wheel and reassembled in the reverse of removal. No issues everything went smooth. Reconnected the battery and started the car now the airbag light is on The light comes on when you initially turn the key goes off for about five or six seconds and then comes back on when engine is running. I did a search with no luck. I will disassemble and recheck everything.
