So today is the first hot day of the year here in Central PA. I jump in my car at lunch - turn on the A/C & it won't blow out of the top vents. Blowing like crazy on my feet - and freezing them - but won't blow through the dash vents! Worked fine last year - awesome in fact!! Actually cool air is trickling through the top vents - but not blowing like I know it should.
View 2 RepliesTo kick off the coldest week (so far) of the winter season, I noticed a problem with the heater controls in my 06 Explorer with manual temp. controls. No matter which fan settings I select (defrost, panel+floor, etc), air does not blow through some of the vents. I can hear the fan working and air flows through the defrost vents and through the floor vents, but the there is no airflow through the vents below radio and round vents on the far left and far right sides of the dashboard.
Perhaps related to this problem, a couple months ago I replaced the blower motor resistor because fan speeds 1 and 2 did not work, only 3 and 4 worked, so whenever I would turn on the heat or A/C, it was on full blast all the time. After replacing the resistor, the issue was resolved and all of the speeds worked well. I guess I just never realized the issue with the vents, or maybe the problem happened because I replaced the resistor?
Since I'm not too knowledgeable with the climate control circuit, I'm not too sure where to begin, perhaps the switch or blower motor?
Push A/C button is always on green. The (air speed) 01234 button is also always on green. the Push button turns on and off orange whenever I click it.
Anyways, the AC doesn't blow any hot air... always just cold. I've adjusted the dial to red and have left it there for a long time... no hot air. Any trouble shooting I can do?
I seem to be having an issue with my air conditioning. I don't think it's an ID-10T error, but it is very peculiar.
My driver side vents blow hot or lukewarm air, however my passenger vents are ice cold. I have the 15 limited, so it does have the "dual" control, and as such I think the issue may be related to that.
Both controls are set to low, max fan, head only, and AC. The "Sync" and "Auto" buttons have no effect.
Any things I can check? I really do not want to bring it into the dealer as they treated me very poorly the last time I came in and my car was out for a month.
I have a 2006 F-250 Super Cab with climate control. The last three years when the temp exceeds about 85 degrees outside it acts up. It will switch from the AC vents to defrost and blow normal air through, not ac cold. Then it will switch back, when doing so I can hear the internal deflector shudder. It will do this every few minutes. It is extremely annoying. All other times of the year it works fine. My local dealer had the truck last year, but could not find anything wrong. I have used the search and also Googled and while I find similar problems nothing exactly the same.
View 12 RepliesHot air blowing out of the vents when the temp control is dialed all the way to cold (but without A/C on)? On days when temps are in the 70s, I'd be perfectly content to drive around with the vent on blowing exterior-temp air around the cabin. However, even with the climate control system off, I still get hot air radiating out of the vents -- I can even feel the warmth at my feet. I've never had a car that seemed to heat all the air that comes out of the vents despite the position of the temp dial (well above the ambient exterior air temperature).
When the A/C is on, I get cold air so my A/C works. It just seems like I can't utilize the "vent w/o A/C" option unless it's cold out. I've got the manual climate controls, no issues with the car running hot -- just hot vent air unless A/C is on.
08 Sonata: I have been noticing this for a couple of months.
Its summer out here in CO and my car typically has the the thermostat on cold, but the AC is off, Air on fresh air (default with AC off), windows rolled down. After driving the car for ~ 5-10 minutes, the vents for the driver and passenger's feet blow out hot air. It gets just a little difficult to breathe and I am forced to turn the AC on. The AC works fine, no issues.
I am at 43k miles and wanted to run this by the forum before heading to the dealer.
So I was sitting in my car, running, parked with the ac on and out of no where I got an electrical/burning smell coming from the vents. My volts were reading 12 with ac on at idle but once my rpms reach about 7-800 it goes back to 14. My question is what was that smell? I've had 2 alternators go on this car (power draining aftermarket accessories 3.3 v6) and have driven the car for about 2 hours collective time since the problem started (usually alternator goes quick) and haven't noticed any lights dimming, ac blows cold, system still plays full tilt. could a bad compressor be causing putting some stress on the car?
View 8 RepliesMy 2003 S60 tried to make my life interesting yet again by refusing to blow air through the vents as normal. Only a little finds its way to the vents. The fan sounds good and strong, and the temperature is proper based on my setting. It's like it's stuck somewhere between the three settings for the direction of the fan (head, torso, and feet.) It usually works fine for a while, and then it's like a computer or flap gate get tired and gives up...
It may be relevant to know that this issue occurred around the same time my cluster started dying. I have since reflowed it and it is working as normal. Unfortunately, the climate control system is still angry.
My vents don't blow hot air, even when I have the dial set to max heat. The air is only moderately warm. In the winter, one definitely needs to keep their coat on when traveling in my car. (It's a 2003 Passat V6.) The needle in the engine temperature gauge is vertical once I have been driving for 5 minutes, so I think the thermostat is OK. This morning it was 17 degrees; I'd sure like heat soon.
View 7 RepliesAbridged version: My fans won't blow any air out of the vents. If I spin the blower/fan motor that is behind the glove compartment, it'll work again. But the cycle repeats itself every time I turn the car on.

My Air Condition is having some problem. when I switch on the AC the air flow very low from the vents, even i put the fan speed is full (4) feels like fan switch is in low (1). The blower giving sound like it is giving air like more than full speed. fan speed selector switch working ok, because the speed of the air vary from the 1 to 4 positions. also i feel very low cooling in high speed also. i found one more problem that if i change the air flow switch to defrost level, the air flow is coming through the windshield defrost vents and the floor vents. if the switch selected to Floor-Defrost Level also the air coming through the both ways. What could the problem.

View 3 RepliesSo, I purchased a 2004 Subaru forester at the in of 2013, from a private seller. When I turn on the a/c the air is warm, I thought maybe the refrigerant so low, so I check the level and it is good, the a/c compressor clutch engages, but warm air still comes out of the vents. I am asking what else could cause the a/c to blow warm air?
View 1 RepliesI have a 98 gtp 2 door with the electronic dual zone climate control. I can't get air to blow much out of the floor vents. I applied vacuum directly to the actuator and air came from the vents fine. It seems there is a box behind the glove box that controls the vacuum to each actuator. My question is, would the issue likely be with that vacuum distribution box or with the electronic climate box itself.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2014 Santa Fe and after about 2 hours on the highway the A/C freezes up and won't blow air through the vents. If I shut off the A/C and run just fresh air in about 10 minutes the volume returns, and I can once again turn on the A/C for another 2+ hours. I run the A/C on fresh air not recirculate.
View 5 RepliesOf the 4 vents that blow into the passenger's face in my jetta, only 1 really works. All other vents seem to work well (i.e., windshield defrost, footwell etc) but the ones that blow the heat/AC in your face seem to be affected. the one working vent is the driver's side of the 2 central vents (the ones above the stereo) neither of the 2 for the passenger work, and the one by the Driver's door works a bit.
I've tried opening them with the dial on the dash and closing, but that seems to have little effect. Are there dampers or something that can be adjusted on the inside of the vents?
I've spent some time searching on this one and I mostly found how to replace the heater-core and the blower itself. The blower works as does A/C, that one vent is ice-cold, but the other 3 don't really do anything.
I have a 1990 Chevy Celebrity wagon with a vent problem. The air will only blow out the dashboard vents, so I'm getting no heat down below, or air to the defroster.
View 2 RepliesI have an issue with my a/c. The left side blows out air but it is not cold. The right side is cold. The whole front dash has 4 vents total so the left two does not blow out cold air at all.
View 14 RepliesThe climate control can be completely off (fan, everything)... and my vents will commonly continue to blow (room temp) air. Don't know if I'm missing something here. This is while in motion or stopped.
