I have a 2007 sonata, 4cyl, and just installed new KYB340022 gas,,, front struts. No other work was performed, just new strut installation. ABS and ESC warnings lights are now on since installation.

View 8 RepliesWhen coming to a stop and turning the wheels to the left, there is a creaking noise from the right front strut. This is also the strut that has an ever so small clunking noise when going over small bumps at low speeds. If I turn left at low speeds but don't apply the brakes, there is no creaking sound.
Car has 42,000 miles, original Michelins and original front brakes (50% pad left), and original struts!
2006 with 110K. I did a search for rattles. My question is do these struts have bushings or shims that wear out over time. Going down the road car is nice and quiet. Hit some bumps and it sounds like it is coming apart.

View 3 RepliesStrange thing happened yesterday. After changing my oil as I left my friends house I had a couple weird indicator lights. ABS warning, the yellow indicator next to that ((!)) and the traction control light were all lit and solid. Brakes felt a little unusual. Less sensitive than normal but working fine....
I pulled out of his driveway, then went about 20 feet and pulled over. Shut the car completely off, turned it back on and all was normal.
The exclamation indicator was not lit nor Check engine and no messages were displayed. No beeping . It's almost like I had the car in some kind of brake test mode or something.
Here's what I did before I left his house:
While on jack stands I changed my oil. While it was still up on jacks I turned on the car to run the engine for a moment. (I put it in neutral to let it run for about 1 minute.) No leaks .. buttoned up the car, put it back on the ground. Filled oil to the top line and ran the engine again for maybe 30 seconds. Everything normal. Then I had it in "ON" mode while I checked my tire air pressure. (I had a warning indicator about that.) Once I had tires correct I put the car in ready mode. All indicators off and normal. Shut off car then had it in accessory for a little while. (Listening to radio) It was after this I left his house..... So I definitely cycled the car on and off several times.
2008 Prius with @ 70K. Never any problems.
My wife goes and has the oil changed at one the 'stay in your car' 10 minutes changes. They change the oil and replace a couple burnt out bulbs. Drive home the 2 miles to the house and gets ready for work. Leaves for work and sees the 'check engine' light on. Goes back to the oil place, they throw it on the computer and read a PO101 and PO171 code. "has to do with with the fuel mixture". She goes to work 11 miles and back. This a.m.

My 07 GS350 for the second time, gave me a low oil warning light. the car has 114k and had the cam TSB work done. The first time I had low oil was about 2,300 miles ago when my alternator started burning. Got that replaced along with a oil change,brakes, coolant flush and belt change (i know i know I got raped by the dealer). Last night driving to the gas station with car almost on E the low oil warning came on again..I always have them put 5W-30 synthetic but during my last oil change they put in 5w-20. I don't think that this would do anything however. Not due for an oil change. I spent about $1200 on the car in January to fix the previously mentioned issues. I love my GS and do not want to get rid of her.What are my options? What could be wrong?
View 12 RepliesI have given this scenario a careful study and developed a few tools and techniques for access to the fuse box cover on a Gen III Prius with a Tanabe strut tower brace installed.
1. The left hand bracket can be removed and reinstalled without removing the wipers, wiper motor and the two splash pans.
2. A 14mm offset custom made long box wrench or "ring spanner," a long flat blade screw driver and an extension magnet is needed to remover and install the bracket nuts.
There is enough space, using a long offset box wrench to loosen and tighten the 14mm flange nuts holding the bracket.
I have a 2005 F-150 4x2 with 4.2L mojo. If I change the struts, is an alignment required due to slight changes in the top mount location? I plan on having it aligned but timing wise I may not be able to get it all done at the same time.
View 1 RepliesJust replaced spark plugs in my 2007 Sonata V6 and noticed that my MPG has dropped from about 24 to 19! I used NGK Iridium plugs, and also changed the PCV valve at the same time. Mileage is 136,000. Could the internal computer (that does the MPG calculation) have gotten messed up by all of the disconnecting/unplugging that I had to do to get the surge tank off? (BTW - the engine runs great - just the MPG went way down).
View 10 RepliesABS, Brake, Traction warning lights display and chime sounds when car is started in the mornings. These warnings disappear after car is parked for at least half an hour and then re-started.
They will come on then intermittently while going over a small bump, or sounding horn or turning on wipers. It's like the car is haunted.
So far the dealership has replaced a front speed sensor which solved the problem for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I returned it to the dealership with the same problem and they diagnosed it as a poor battery cable ground and declared it fixed. This morning the lights and chime were back on.
The power steering feels loose & less responsive while lights are activated.
I am looking for an answer to changing my 2007 Sonata fuel tank air filter that is mentioned in my 30,000 mile maintenance schedule. Is this an easy change or does my car have to be taken to the dealer for this?

Tonight, when I was getting in the car, it turned on. I tried to change it from Park, but it just stuck and wouldn't move and let me change at all, even down to reverse. It's just stuck in park.
What is wrong with it? What's stuck, and what can I do to get it unstuck? Or else, I'd have to get it towed because it won't budge from park

All of the warning lights on my dash are lit up. I cannot put the car in gear due to the drive not showing up. The RPM's show 0, then after a few seconds they bump and start working. After restarting car a few times it finally goes away. Everything but the check engine lights. Anything to try before I put it in the shop tomorrow?
Circumstances required me to make an emergency trip to Phoenix this week. On the way down, I first got the "Oil change soon" warning, followed by the "Oil change required" message a few hundred miles later.
I religiously keep my truck serviced on time, and have never had either of these warnings come up before. My truck had 2700 miles on it since last service was done when this first warning came up. My truck gets very little idle time, so it's not sitting idling for hours a day.
My question is, is this oil change message a result of an actual oil monitoring sensor that measures oil quality on-the-fly, or is it strictly based on a miles or odometer timer that gets reset when dealer changes the oil?
At this point I'm wondering if the kid that serviced my truck either forgot to reset a timer, or worse, just "pencil whipped" my oil change. I have to call my home dealer back, since the service manager wasn't in yet when I called.
I was trying to find a guide on how to change out my reverse lights to LED, I'm having problems removing the panel. The guide i found on here had all the pictures removed. I'm also trying to change the lights for the make up mirror.

View 14 RepliesI have an accent 2006 GS Sedan. I bought this as used recently. Noticed that the lights are not powerful at nights. When I turn on the lights there is no changes in the power of the driving / low beam lights.
Whether this is the standard with accent 2006. Other vehicles I have with me changes the power of the light and in this case there is no changes at all. I bought extra powerful bulbs and put them and there was a slight change, but there is no change between the driving lights and the low beam.
This is a 2006 Hyundai Sonata w/ 3.3 engine. 62,000 mi. The air bag warning light on dash comes on and goes off intermittently.
What causes this? What can I check? Is there really a problem?
