Transmission Oil leak ... I have a 2008 Sonata 2.4 Auto 60,000 miles just noticed a small transmission leak it isn't leaking much but is definitely there its around mainly the passenger side of transmission area close to drive shaft but is hard to pin point.

I have already replaced the seal with a Hyundai seal and it is still leaking. Not as bad as before but it leaks onto the exhaust and smells really bad. The transmission is not overfull...
View 2 RepliesWhere another 09 owner had what he thought was a cold weather related squeak coming from the passenger side dash / windshield area. Mine does this and it's highly annoying. Here's what I've observed:
- seems to happen in cold temps, though I can't say what "cold" is...<40F perhaps?
- noticeable over bumps or whenever the car frame twists as a result of uneven road surface
- source seems to be the dash / windshield interface on the passenger side
- it's *possible* it may be coming from the top of the windshield as well
- it's very noticeable and highly irritating
Either with an 09 or earlier model? I cut a pool noodle and shoved it down between the glass and dash hoping the pressure would relieve whatever is rubbing. It appeared to work until the temps dropped into the 20s. Then it returned. I have a 2009 GLS, 5MT Sonata.
My 2006 F150 Lariat screw has a passengers side water leak that runs down under the passengers side dashboard on to the fuse box , electrical connections , etc... My rug is soaked ....
I thought it was the ac / defroster condensation drain issue covered in the TSB and did that fix ( not an easy job ! ), but that's not it. I sprayed water on the passengers side windshield and watched it leak on the inside. I broke down and took it to the dealership and they can't find the leak . They still have my truck ! They don't think it's a windshield leak and I don't either .
I have an 08 Sonata GLS and today an annoying rattle was coming from what seems to be deep in the dash on the passenger side. I checked the glove box, closed all the doors tight etc. etc. but it is still there. It seems like a vibration as it is pretty constant but it does change going over bumps etc. Is it a known issue?
View 6 RepliesI have a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. At speeds of 50 mph or more, there is a high pitched whistling noise which seems to emanate from the passenger side windshield area. I believe the noise is caused by a faulty windshield seal. I recall a similar whistling noise when I had a windshield replaced on a vehicle years ago by. I called Safelite Autoglass back, and to their credit, they sent someone out to re-seat the windshield, which resolved the problem. So I'm assuming the dealer will be able to do the same. I hesitate to call it wind noise because all cars have that to one extent or another.
View 9 RepliesCame home from a 3-hour trip. Back in my garage my wife is outside while I maneuver the car into place, and she tells me she hears weird ticking, which I can actually notice myself as coming from the front right-hand side (sitting at the wheel).
Turns out when the brakes are applied, the car is not moving, and the shift lever is in D -- there is a ticking sound coming from the transmission area. Shifting to N or P or R -- no noise, only when in D. The ticking is not consistent, it's changing from slower to faster to slow again, no matter how much I put pressure on the brakes (it's not the brakes squeaking).
I found water under carpet next to door. Appears to be coming from area above center of vehicle. Only occurs during rain etc. Not from A/C or heater housing.
View 14 RepliesSo I found out this afternoon that I have a leaking sunroof. Water has been draining into the rear driver's side passenger area and has soaked my carpet under my seat. And had standing water under my rear seat in the tray next to the fuel pump access.
I found that the drain tubes can become clogged allowing for water to spill over or seep out. And sending some compressed air up the tube will clear it. But I do not know where the tube exits.
I unfortunately cannot pull the interior apart the weekend because I have drill. So it will have to wait until next weekend to gut her again. I will also pull the headliner to check the condition of the tube.
Noticed fluid under the car two days after my dyno run but assumed it was from excess GumOut. I ran 3 tanks of fuel and the car is dripping fluid so the GumOut is not the problem. Closer investigation lead to fluid build up around the drive shaft on my passenger side. The driver side fits flush with the transmission housing but the passenger side has a gap.
Is the gap normal? It looks strange, kinda like the shaft is sliding out from the transmission. Again, the left sits flush. There is a small rubber gasket between the shaft and the housing. My passenger side has a 1/4 inch gap from the shaft to the housing and there is no rubber gasket. The undercarriage is soaked now. I will fill up THE transmission with fluid and take it to PTP.
What is the problem? Bad seals? Is there something missing? Did the dyno mess me up?
For a while now my wife has been getting a weird noise from the passenger side rear, it sounds like its right around the passenger side rear speaker area. It only happens on a hard bump or a pothole and it's kinda like a boing sound. Originally I thought that it was the trunk lid spring but I'm unable to narrow it down. I'm also aware that this is close to the rear strut.
View 4 RepliesSo I went outside yesterday, an hour after getting home from an hour drive. I find a PUDDLE of transmission fluid under my car. The only place WET under the car, however, is under the passenger side (where the antifreeze is). When the flat bed tow truck arrived and lifted the car onto the truck, there was a line of fluid that leaked out where the car was pulled onto the bed at an angle. When I spoke to the mechanic this morning he said he can't find a leak anywhere. My transmission fluid is full as is my antifreeze. So where did the leak come from and why isn't it happening now?
View 2 RepliesMy 05 Supercrew 4X4 with 172k miles started making a horrible noise these last couple days. It sounds like its coming from the front passenger side area. The best I can describe is that it sounds like an electric tool motor with bad bearings. I'll be driving along at 45mph or above and every now and then I'll hear a really bad bearing squeal. It's bad enough that I can feel the extra friction caused by the squeal start to slow my truck down. It's vehicle speed related. I know what a bad wheel bearing sounds like and this is nothing like that. It's gotten bad enough I'm nervous to drive anywhere.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l GLS. Staring to get an little noise from the engine about a few days ago. The noise what can only describe as a whirring sound and while in the cabin it sounds like it's coming from the right side and in the engine area, especially after a cold start and during acceleration. It is not very loud(have to turn stereo off to hear it and it only last for a couple of seconds as far as I know. My car now has about 240,000kms on it, and since the noise is coming from that area I am guessing it's a pulley of some sort. Serpentine belt was changed last year. What this noise is? I was thinking it might be the belt tensioner, probably should have changed it during my belt change.

The passenger side vents are throwing cold air instead of warm like the drivers side. This includes the windshield defroster. I'm thinking there is a diverter "somewhere" that is not working properly.
View 2 RepliesI have an exhaust leak on the passengers side of my 2006 F-150 5.4 triton. If I do the repair which is the correct way to do it? Do I replace just the blown out gasket?
Do I need to buy a new exhaust manifold and gasket kit, with exactly what parts should I buy in the kit? Or do i need to replace both sides?
I have recently replaced the clutch, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, Strut tower mounts and brakes on my 2002 Hyundai Elantra 5 speed. Everything is working properly but now I have a transmission fluid leak. I can not locate the exact location. It appears that it is dripping down onto the passenger side half axle where it connects at the transmission.
View 2 Replies2003 Limited 6.0 130K. Just took a 1000 mile trip for spring break. While away, I noticed a small leak near the front passenger side of the truck. It is red so I assumed it was transmission fluid. It is leaking from, the best I can describe, a small housing that looks like it might be a filter near the tire (it looks like the old style canister oil filter housings). All the hoses are clean and where the hoses go into the radiator are clean. Is this an easy fix? I am a bit worried about trying to get the thing off without damaging the hoses.
View 3 Replies2004 SCrew, FX4, 5.4 ... I had the dreaded exhaust manifold leak on the passenger side. After reading the horror stories of this repair and living in the rust belt I decided against fixing it myself. I took it to a local repair shop to have done. Initially the mechanic could see that the front 2 studs were snapped off (before even trying to remove them).
After a full day of fighting the studs (engine loose & lifted up) everything is out but the front 2 studs. the top one has about 1/2" exposed, but it is frozen in place (penetrate on it overnight). The biggest problem is the bottom stud. it is broken off about 1/8" below the surface of the head. The guy doesnt have a small enough right angle drill to get between the frame & head to attempt to drill it out. I will gladly go buy a drill for him to do this, as it will likely save me money if it will work to drill out the stud.
Need to get the 2 studs out, particularly the bottom one, or what right angle drill may fit in there?
I was just changing the oil on my wifes 2008 Escape and noticed a oil leak. At first I thought it was an oil pan gasket,But its higher than that. Then I thought maybe an axle boot but it's also higher than that. It's on the passenger side about the middle of the engine right under neath the biggest pulley.
Its a cylinder shape mold coming off the engine about an inch long with a bolt on the end of it. I'm not seeing oil any higher than that and seems to be coming from there from what I can see. Is this something common with the Escapes?The truck has 55,650 miles on it and this is the first issue so far.The wifes first escape we traded for this was an 01 with 200,000.
clarification: temperature control works as expected on driver side. Only hot air comes out on the passenger side.
1. Most of the problems of this sort seemed to have been solved by replacing an actuator - air blend actuator, vent door actuator, etc are the terms used. Are these all different names for the same actuator? Or are there two actuators?
2. The problems occurs regardless of the DUAL setting so I think it is unlikely to be a temperature sensor problem.
