I have a Sonata 2008 4 cyl. I started getting Airbag and passenger seat-belt signs blinking. Whenever a passengers seats the seat-belt light does not blink, but airbag warning on my dashboard is still turned on. I went to the dealer and they told me to replace the cushion for the passenger.

View 13 RepliesHere's the situation. When my wife sits in the passengers seat, the "Passenger air bag off" light comes on half the time. It will turn off half of the time (meaning the air bag is on) but the other half of the time the light is on. It turns right off when I sit in the passengers side and stays off, the problem is only when she sits there.
I've had the recall fix on the passengers side seat done already, (before, the light was always on). I don't think it's her size either, she's 5'8" so it's not like she's too small. She's tried sitting in different positions, but we can't figure out what's doing it.
I recently bought a used 2006 Sonata LX. I have noticed that the passenger airbag light on the dash above the heater controls flashes constantly when I drive alone (no passenger). Is there a way to turn that off? It's pretty annoying at night.

Is there some sort of computer or weight sensor in the seat that trips this indicator light? I've noticed that sometimes, if I push down on the seat or move the seat forward or back, the light will go off. For the most part, however, it comes back on and remains on.

And today I noticed when I was driving the car by myself the passenger seatbelt light was blinking and the passenger airbag light off bag wasn't lit? I have a unique situation:
•No passenger: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
•Passenger with no seat belt: light is "Airbag" - No red flashing seat belt sign
I have no other warning lights on the dash.
I tried to check to check if there are any loose wires/connectors under the passenger seat but everthing looks ok.
Is there a blown fuse?
For a long time my 2004 regular cab truck has a quirk that both the driver (and passenger if present) must click their seat belts before starting the truck. If not, the seat belt chime and light flash, even though the seat belt light is off when the alarm is not sounding.
Even if the truck is in park, and the passenger gets out of the truck and back again with the engine running, once in drive it will start the seat belt alarm with everybody properly buckled.
A few months ago I was driving to work and the airbag light started to flash.
I took the truck in for the air bag wiring harness recall, and the airbag light did not flash since then, and for a little while the seatbelt problem went away.
1 month later the seat belt quirk was back again.
This past weekend the 5x5 air bag alert started. I checked previous posts, and confirmed that my air bag light does not ever light on my dash. I don't remember if it ever came on once the recall was "fixed".
My gut feel is that the wiring to the light is fine, and that this is a wiring problem in the harness. I saw a post that made a vague reference to the air bag sensor under the center console and the seat belt circuit and could find no more.
Looking for a wiring diagram? If the airbag light is out, does the 5x5 alert supposed to indicate that the bulb is burned out, or that the bulb is out AND there is an airbag fault?
135 plus pound passenger with seat belt on. Was intermittent on/off with passenger but now seems always off (off light 'on' ) meaning the passenger airbag is disabled.
I know the es350 was so bad like this that there was a threat of class action. I've read the weight sensor is in the passenger seat rail and you can also do a calibration with a scan tool.
About 6 weeks ago my 2004 4.6 scab had a glitch in that when you got going the seat belt warning chimes came on, to clear it stop at the next junction turn off re start and away you go. Now today its moved a step further on, the airbag not working light flashes and then stops on, but no seat belt chimes?
View 2 RepliesOver the past 9 months with the Sonata, I haven't really noticed anything that I dislike about the car. The 1 thing I dislike the most, that I can't change, is the "pick-up style parking brake". However, the other thing that I CAN change is.
When driving with the front windows down, the passenger seat belt flaps around and hits the pillar from time to time. It's pretty loud; to the point where it can be startling if you don't know it can happen. I'm trying to figure out a way to remedy, but if someone already has, how so?

I've only had one passenger, once in the car, and yesterday, I noticed that the passenger seat belt light is continually flashing when I'm driving. If I'm in park, it's off, but when in gear, that little red light flashes non stop.
Is this normal when there isn't a passenger? I don't remember this happening before, and, I'm sure I would have noticed that annoying little beacon.
If it's wrong, how do I fix it? If it's supposed to be there ... how to I fix it?
No Beeping sound for passenger seat belt, just flashing sign on the dashboard. Just want to see if this is normal or not? ( I would assume it should not be).

Does one have to cut the fabric? I removed the head rest and the top portion where the belt rides but can't locate the retractible part.

View 2 RepliesQuestion is about seat belt reminder/warning light that sits on right side of the radio. Mine is on all the time, it doesn't matter if someone is sitting in passenger seat or not. The only thing it will be different is when you first start the car or if someone is in passenger seat it pulsates 10 or 11 times and then stays on. I tried different seat belt & seat belt buckle, nothing. There is no warning light on my instrumental panel. Everything seems to be fine beside that light. And yes I did search for it here on forums, google, etc, and I'd rather fix this problem then just unplug the light. What could be the problem? Light itself?
View 10 RepliesI replaced the battery in my 2006 Hyundai Sonata (3.3 V6) 3 weeks ago. 5 days ago the battery light and seat belt lights started flashing. Both lights would flash then go off. This occurred on and off for 2 days (no change in driving condition) then stopped for 2 days. Today the lights are flashing again and right before turning my car off, the check engine light came on. I turned the car off, then re-started and the check engine light remains on. What could be causing this?
