Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2007 - Pulsing Acceleration / Codes P2A03 And P0154
Dec 14, 2012
I have a new (to me) 2007 3.3 Sonata w/ 64XXX miles on it. Recently it set off codes for P2A03 and PO154 indicating a problem with the front upstream o2 sensor. Before I replace the sensor I was wondering if these codes might have any other underlying cause.
Symptoms: The car has recently had one instance of pulsing acceleration and one incident where it didn't want to turn over but after an extended start finally started; this problem has not repeated. Otherwise the car has strong acceleration smooth idle and drives fine.
Also, I would like to know if o2 sensors are covered by mandated emission warranty or by Hyundai's 10y/100,000 warranty.

My 07 3.3 SF is throwing P0154 and P0300 codes. Autozone said the P0154 is Bank 2 pre-cat O2 sensor. But exactly which one? The P0300 is random misfire. Could they be related?

Just got this Azera with 61K running after replacing front end body parts. This code (bank 2 sensor 1) came on. I reset the code and it came on in about 30 miles again. From my reading it seems this car has 4 O2 sensors.

I was just driving and the engine check light appeared. The screen says Emission workshop. its a 2001 B5 passat V6 Manual. I used a code reader and it read P1120 and P0154. Are these codes serious? Can I still drive around? What should I do?

I've got a troublesome misfire in a 2007 Sonata V6, 70k miles, which I have been trying and failing to track down for a long time.
More than a year ago, the owner of the car complained of rough idle. When this was first mentioned, I looked at the car, she and I talked, and I concluded that she hadn't changed the oil in some 20k miles. ...... Nothing else seemed wrong. I changed the oil, thinking that what she needed was an oil change.
Some time later, I was in the car myself and all of a sudden felt a strong bucking. Must've been a misfire. I recommended taking it to the Hyundai dealer, thinking the so-called 100k mile powertrain warranty would cover whatever it was (it didn't but whatever).
We drove it to the dealer. The dealer firstly informed us that the CEL had burned out, so we had missed some codes. The dealer further us the car needed new plugs and replacement of both upstream O2 sensors. Here was what the mechanic wrote:
"BETWEEN 35-40 PUT CRUISE ON AND WILL FEEL. CHECK AND ADVISE COMES AND GOES. MULTIPLE CODES STORED IN SYSTEM. ... P0300 RANDOM MISFIRE (ACTIVE), P0140 O2 SENSOR CIRCUIT NO ACTIVITY, P0154 O2 BS S1 NO ACTIVITY. WATCHED O2 VALUES AND FOUND ERRATIC READINGS. FOUND TSB 10-FL-012 SUGGESTING REPLACEMENT OF BOTH UPSTREAM O2 SENSORS. RECOMMEND COMPLETE SYSTEM TUNE UP FOR RANDOM MISFIRE. HOWEVER MISFIRE COULD BE RELATED TO O2 ACTIVITY.
So the owner went to a different mechanic and had the plugs, upstream O2 sensors, and one of the downstream sensors replaced. All OEM, I believe. ($$$!) (O2 sensor parts 39210-3C100, -3C200, and -3C400) Dunno why the downstream one was replaced, not my doing.
Following this, there was no real improvement. No codes either. The problem comes and goes, so maybe I thought it was fixed, but it has come back. Sometimes, it can be felt just slightly when the car starts cold. Other times, it can be felt just barely when driving at a consistent speed. Sometimes, the problem becomes really bad and jerks the car around. Other times, nothing.
What to check next? Coil packs? Intake manifold gasket? She never gets "top tier gasoline," but I would be skeptical that that's the problem. These are the top three suggestions I've heard.

2007 Sonata V6. He's spent many hours and a good chunk of change at the dealership trying to get it fixed and nothing has worked yet. They honestly have no clue whats wrong which kinda scares me.
First off here is his problem. Occasionally when he starts the car it will idle very rough and struggles to accelerate to 30-40mph. When this happens he pulls over and shuts the car off for a few minutes then it will run fine again. When all of this happens there is no CEL or any light at all that flashes or comes on the dash.
Here is a list of things that have been replaced
Fuel pump
Throttle position sensor
Crank sensor
Plugs, wires and coil pack

2007 Sonata GLS - I4; 55kmiles ... I plan to sea foam on my Sonata as it continues to have slow acceleration and poor mileage. Looking for a picture of the Brake Booster or Vacuum line? I want to make sure I am pouring it in the right place.

I have recently purchased a GLI and am in the process of resurrecting it. One of the main issues I am having is when I get up on it during acceleration I start to feel a strong pulsing. I have found that it only will do this in hot weather and it does it in every gear. I work at a volkswagen dealership and have asked other technicians if they had any clue and nothing. I am going to have a pressure test done to it to see if it could possibly be an intake problem. Everything on the car is stock and I don't want to upgrade anything until I figure out what this it.

I noticed going up hill when the RPM's hit around 2100 RPM this morning it looked like my HID's went into a strobe type pulse. They stayed on but got brighter every partial second. Even from a stop if I accelerated with more than 2k RPM the lights flickered.
It's done it for two days, which happened to be in the single digits tempature wise. Do you think it's my alternator or my battery having the issues? Car is a 2012 so I'm leaning more toward battery load issues.

I recently got a problem with my 2006 LX V6 with 65k mils on it. The car had a few times a rough Idle so I hooked up my OBDII scammer ant got two failure codes:
P0300 miss fire
P0276 problem with Injector #6
Which one is the cylinder #6. I took of the engine cover and checked the connectors to the valves in the front row. I assume cylinder number 6 is in the back row and hard to get access.

My sister has a 2006 sonata V6 3.3, she got in 2007 with I think 20,000 miles on it, it has 180k. now. For the first few years she took it to the dealer for all the maintenance and oil changes. She has kept up with the oil changes and I think all the recalls were done.
There has been so slight noise at start up, but nothing I thought was too unusual for these kind of motors.
Yesterday she had an emergency with one of the kids, her faithful sonata fires up with an incredible amount of upper end noise, and it looked like it was burning oil. The engine was turned off immediately.
Her husband tried to start the car about a half hour later, he said it was hard to start, ran rough for moment, he revved it for a bit and it smoothed out running normally. No codes and no CEL. Oil level was good. Oil filter is a fram I think.
I started it a few hours later there was some lifter noise that quickly went away after a rev. Other than that it sounded normal and drove normally, normal exhaust from what we can tell.
There were no codes. and so far it has not done it again. But she is worried the engine is about to fail and she can't trust it with transporting her kids.
Was a timing issue? stuck valves? oil pressure? Oil Pressure to the cvvt (OCT?) maybe? They can't afford a new car right now, is this something easy to fix or is it a warning the motor is about done?

The light just came on in my 06 Sonata 3.3L, showing many codes... P0171B, P0172B, P2187, P2188, P0174B, P0175B, P2189, and P2190. All of these just came on at once, within the last hour. Everything that is stated is regarding Too Lean or Too Rich on Bank's 1 & 2. Where to start on this...

When I accelerate from a stop, the car jumps, slows down, jumps again, etc... I do hear a noise when I accelerate rapidly on the highway, almost like a leak somewhere, but I'm not really sure.

I have a 2010 Sonata GLS 4-cylinder approximately 124K miles which has been hesitating on hard accelerations for about 8 months. It will usually do this when getting on an on-ramp for the freeway or if I need to do a U-turn and get up to speed quickly. What happens is I punch the gas and the vehicle acts as if it's not getting any gas and hesitates or stalls and then it finally takes off. Usually I see a cloud of grey/white smoke behind the car enough that I am unable to see any cars in my rear view mirror.
I do not seem to see a difference when the vehicle is warm/cold. I do not have a CEL nor have had one. I have replaced the MAP sensor, PCV valve and spark plugs (properly gapped). I have done a compression test and am getting roughly 180-185 psi per cylinder. I am not experiencing any oil loss/coolant loss, do not see any oil in the coolant or gummed-up or oily spark plugs. I have also replaced the transmission fluid, doing a drain and flushing the torque converter. I have also cleaned the throttle body, and am using a new air filter and the oil has been changed within the past 1000 miles.

My 2005 3.3 V6 NF Elite has developed a vibration under acceleration. Its not always apparent, but certain road surfaces, and certain rates of acceleration seem to make it worse, when it can be felt throughout the car. The drivers side CV is beginning to click, so will need replacing soon, and I suspect that some bushings around the suspension are worn, as they are squeaking. Could those issues cause such a vibration.

My 2010 Sonata GLS recently started to emitting some noise during acceleration, seemingly come from under the hood. The noise is most noticeable between 15-25 MPH, and is more noticeable when I go uphill. The noise also becomes more frequent with higher speed.
I have a shared m4a file with the noise recorded on Google Drive [URL] ......

I was cruising on the highway and tried to accelerate and no more power. Could feel engine losing power. After I shutdown the car and start again, car was fine.

Still getting used to my 2010 2.4 Sonata>Seems hard to get gradual acceleration when I depress gas pedal, instead I get Jack rabbi t take offs ,I wonder if linkage needs to be adjusted.

I've got a Sonata NF 3.3L I bought for my first car. Bought the car second hand with 119,000km's. Runs really well but in the last few months there has been a rough sound on acceleration. Sort of like a ticking noise. Doesn't matter if it's warmed up or not. At cruise speeds you can't hear it. What it could be? Ran some injector cleaner through it to no avail.

It was the throttle body thing, cleaned that completely. Replaced the pedal with one from the bone yard. No change after clearing codes, the check engine light comes back the second you touch the pedal. Have a new (reman) throttle body coming tomorrow as I may have dinged it up after cleaning it again, I took it apart to see if I could see anything obvious.
Cleaned the carbon tracks inside and bent the brushes up more to contact the tracks better. I doubt it liked that. It was throwing a code for high current, but now that has disappeared. However, I used to be able to rev it up to 2500 rpm, now nada.... So I am left wondering if this is a bad ground or something? Bad wiring to the ECM:?
I would love a schematic showing where any relevant grounds are, pin out voltages etc. It is -15 here. The closest I've come so far: [URL] ....

My car has been vibrating under acceleration since past 2 months. It isn't present in first gear but is evident in second and third gear ,and increases with more acceleration. I replaced engine mounts as they were shot, and got the wheels balanced but the vibration still persists
