View 5 RepliesI have a 2000 Silverado 1500 4.8 liter v8. On my drive to work this morning the headlights and the cluster light shut off and the security light illuminated and has been on ever since . The truck will crank and run fine I have brake lights and turn signals and reverse lights. I have read that this problem can usually be traced back to the body control module. I located the TBC fuse under the hood and it was blown. so I replaced it with another 10 amp fuse and it blew immediately after I inserted it. So I am thinking if I am able to rule out a ground or bare wire somewhere then the module itself may just have to be replaced.
The next question I have is due to the security light staying on in the cluster all of the time. Assuming that I can continue to drive the truck while waiting to have the BCM replaced I would only need to ensure that I did not drive after dark as I have no headlights. But I am concerned that the security light being on all of the time will drain my battery. Do the security light remaining on will in fact drain the battery? And if so, is there a way to disable the cluster and door security light so that I may continue to drive it and not have to come home and disconnect the negative cable every
My son's 08 1500 2WD truck has had problems with the cruise control not working correctly. Think I found out why, was following him today, and his brake lights came on. He was on an open road, no traffic, so I called him and asked if he was riding the brake with his left foot. He said No. Told him what I saw, and when he came to a red light, I told him to stab the brake 2 or 3 times, then let up. No change, brake lights stayed lit. He pulled into a lot, and unplugged the connector on the brake pedal arm. Then he turned on the key, brake lights were still on. Connector has 4 wires, I guessed one circuit for brake lights, one for cruise? Or is one for the transmission interlock solenoid that prevents shifting out of Park until you press the brake pedal? Getting ready to go check things with a voltmeter.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 Silverado 1500 4X4 extended cab with short box with a 5.3L. A couple weeks ago I noticed that my brake lights were staying on all the time. I removed the fuses for the trailer left and right lights and the brake lights went out. due to the holidays I haven't had time to find out why the lights were staying on.
Today I noticed that my 3rd brake light was staying on all the time, even with the truck off, and no one in the truck, and my electric brake controller inside the cab was on. I unplugged the controller from the fuse panel and the controller light went out but the 3rd brake light was still on. I couldn't find a fuse, so I removed the bulbs. Where I would start to find the problem.
I have a 1999 jeep Cherokee there is no check engine light on. But the air bag light stay on. I scan for a code it gave me a ( p.0.1698). What that is. My code scanner only go up to p.0.900...
View 2 RepliesI have a 1999 F-150 4.6L V-8, and the battery light is staying on. Something is draining the battery. I have taken it to Auto Zone, and they tested the battery (brand new), starter, and alternator - all show good. The only error they can register is "C1226 brake light lamp short." What could be causing this? I had to get jump started at a gas station 2 nights ago. I have checked the alternator fuse, and it is ok. Could the wiring be bad somewhere?
View 4 RepliesI just replaced the rear calipers on my wife's Taurus wagon (old ones were siexed) and bled the brakes as normal, but now the brake warning light is on and staying on. At first I thought it was the parking break, but it seems to work fine, (Tried setting the parking break while in motion and the car slowed quickly.) Its the first time I have changed the calipers on a car. When bleeding I did so until there were no more bubbles pulling about 8 oz from each side. The reservoir did get low but I don't think it emptied. Is it possible that I went too far and now have air in the master cylinder? How would I correct this?
View 4 RepliesMy truck is stuck in 4hi when I turn the key on service 4wd light comes on. A when I push 2 hi it flashes. tccm clicks then I hear a humming/buzzing coming from the to shift motor an stays in 4hi I can push 4 auto an It goes into that but no 2 hi or 4 low I have two 99s so part are easy to get so I swapped out the dash switch with a working one from my other one. No change . Swapped out them (transfer case control module) no change. I believe my actuator is working as it should I hear it just like my other working 99 4wd system so I thought it's gotta be a bad shift motor but after reading lots of posts here I'm thinking a bad wire? Any input welcomed to have an appointment at the shop the 7th of July if I can fix it before then I'll save 200 bucks what colors are the problem wires that every one has? An is there a way to get it into 2wd if i cant fix it myself?
I haven't check my fluid yet I haven't run it for codes I tried but the checker didn't have the stuff to get to transfer case data
I have a 2006 Ford F 350 Super Duty ABS light comes on stays on till I shut the truck off and restart it this happens about once or twice a week
View 2 RepliesSo my red door open light started staying on. Along with all the lights associated with the doors being opened. The lights don't always come on, but the dash lights stays. As a quick fix I just popped the bulbs out and went on my way. Tried lubing the doors. That didn't work. I started noticing it seemed to be related to when I was slowing down or turning.
I thought maybe it's my passenger leaning on the door around the turns. So I inspected all the doors, they latch fine and don't feel like they're open. Last night I was riding by myself, and I realized that it wasn't anyone leaning on the door. When I would slow down, at the same spot. I would hear a click and the lights by the doors would come on, as well as the light on the back of the cab over the bed.
It did it every time the whole way home. It was approx. 16-18 mph when it would click. It was the same spot each time but I couldn't really nail the exact speed and watch for deer. I originally thought I'd just replace the sensors in the doors, but idk if that'll work anymore since it seems to be affected by other factors.
Door ajar light stays on. Lights were staying on until they timed off but after two days they have returned to normal operation. Where the switch is located on the door frame, I can't seem to find it. 2002 ex psd.
View 12 RepliesThe light on dash for 4X4 stays on no mater where the switch is placed I have it in 2 wd and it stays on. Where I need to start looking.

View 14 RepliesJust bought a 2002 F-250 4x4 Off-Road Crew Cab 7.3L and the airbag light is staying on. I have found out after the fact that the truck has been previously involved in a front end collision. The damage was to the passenger side front. I turn the ignition on, the airbag light will come on solid (just like all the rest, with the exception of the 4x4 and 4x4 low) then go out. Then it flashes slowly 2x then 5x, then goes out for a bit then repeats a few times before staying on. This tells me I am getting a code of 25. I have searched with no luck to narrow this issue down. Everything mechanically works, cruise, horn, etc. The only thing I can find wrong is when I engage the 4-wheel drive (floor shifter) the indicator lights do not illuminate in the instrument cluster. Neither the 4x4 nor the 4x4 low. I am unfamiliar with this truck, so I don't know where to began searching. I cant afford to take it to a dealer and I have children in the truck quite often, so I would like to remedy this very quickly.
View 9 RepliesTruck '02 F250 SuperCab - I was having an issue with the door ajar light staying on and the radio not shutting off upon exiting the truck. After having no luck with the WD-40 fix, I replaced the door switch sensor on the driver's side door and disconnected the negative battery cable for a few minutes (maybe 5-10).
Problem solved or so I thought...a few days later (approximately 5) the door ajar light came back on and the radio did not shut off. I disconnected the negative cable and sure enough that fixed it...again The problem is that every few days I have to go thru this. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but the CD player has started giving me "error reading disc" on even brand new CD's.
I have a 2012 f250 been in the shop 4 times for the traction control light just coming on randomly and staying on. they have flashed it changed something in the steering column forgot name of that and changed some sensors out. still does it. I think its a bad connection or bare wire is what I keep saying to them cause it only does it on rough roads and when its wet.
View 4 RepliesYesterday i was on my way to fill 100oct, on my way i encountered heavy rains and big puddles. After 15-20min drive to the gas station i filled her up and setup the 100oct tune, after i noticed the check engine light was on and epc light too.
So i set her back to stock tune and back to 100oct tune and the CEL went away but the epc light wont go away. Why it stayed on? The car still runs good.
05 GMC pickup, service air bag light staying on. What needs to be done with this?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata Limited, and have had no problems with it until now - the low gas light came on while I drove to work with the fuel gauge showing more than half a tank just before that.
I stopped at a gas station and put $10 of gas in just to be sure it wasn't wrong, but started it up again and the light stayed on.
Took a little road trip this weekend and now my ESP light won't turn off. I was on the highway in cruise control doing about 70mph, the light flashed, however i was not slipping or losing traction. It has stayed on since even after I shut the car off. No CEL. its a 1.8t FWD
View 7 RepliesI started having an issue with my battery light coming on and staying on so everyone told me change the alternator. So i did. 4 days later the battery light came back on and now i have it in the shop, alternator check came out good, battery check came out good and starter check came out good.
I haven't had any issues with the car before now, i have made several long trips, bought it brand new and have 69,000 miles on it. I love my car, but I am scared to find out what it's going to cost to fix it.
