Sierra :: Code P0157 Comes And Go On GMC 6.0L
Oct 4, 2015
I have this code on my gmc serria 6.0L. I have changed the O2sensor2 but the code comes and goes. Less frequent than before I changed it. I am wondering if the cataletic converter can be altered and remove the code. I/e drill it out, take it out?

My 2009 Camry came down with the p0157 code which I looked up & is oxygen sensor circuit, low voltage bank 2 sensor 2. I'm trying to figure out which side this is(driver or passenger)? Also have a p0430 code-catalyst system efficiency below threshold.

I have a 2011 toyota camry. 3.5L v6. I have code p0157. I know my car has 4 o2 sensors, but I am not sure which one to buy. Where this o2 sensor is located, and which one to purchase. A part number would be very useful.

went to have an oil change. Standard procedure. Wife drives the 330 away and the check engine and VSC lights come on. I figure it's the maintenance indicator needing reset, but no..... the reset didn't work. Went back to my local mechanic who changed the oil to run codes and see what the problem is. Code P0157 = bad O2 sensor.
Now, I questioned him as to why these lights would come on DIRECTLY after they changed my oil. Is there any correlation there? NO, he says. No reason why these lights would come on immediately after the oil change and we've never seen these two lights come on at the same time before.
I've read every post and thread I can, but it seems like every issue is different. Some times it's a loose gas cap or gas cap that needs replacing. I have to drive 60 miles to the dealer some time soon to have a recall performed, but until then should I worry about this O2 sensor and these lights staying on?

I have the code P0453 set and believe I need to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor. I have the part and want to know if this part can be replaced without removing the fuel tank. There is a video on youtube that shows replacing the part by lowering the tank with a transmission jack after the straps have been removed. Replacing the sensor by touch and feel maybe using mirrors to see what you are doing? It might be possible to cut a hole in the bed and patch it later but that seems pretty time consuming too.

2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD, 227,000 miles 6.0L V8.
While driving up hills or increasing load, the CEL will flash multiple times, I pull over as I know CEL flashing is not good. I turn the truck off, allow it to sit for a few minutes, whip out the code scanner, only code that was there happens to be P0300. Truck has poor MPGS, idles rough, loss of power. this happens every time I drive this vehicle as I use this truck to pull my trailer that weighs around 4000 lbs. Problems come and go. Some days I can drive the truck for an hour with no problems, come up to a red-light, BAM, CEL is flashing, truck is bouncing side to side due to the poor idle, other days this happens while sitting in the parking lot of my job with the ac on.
Truck has been to the shop several times as I'm no mechanic. Parts replaced are as follows:
- Fuel pump
- Throttle Body
- All plugs
- All wires-All Coils
- Intake Manifold Gasket-
- Battery
- Sensor 1 Bank 1 O2 Sensor
- Sensor 1 Bank 2 O2 sensor

So my 2001 5.3L truck has 206,648 miles on it. Over the years, it's been serviced every 5K with the only big repair being head gaskets which were done about a year ago.
Two weeks ago, I hit the gas to merge into traffic and the SES light started flashing and I could tell there was a miss. I got off the gas and a few moments later, the light went out and the miss was gone. I pulled the code and it was P0303 so I change the plugs, wires, and the coil pack for Cyl 3 fuel filter and ran a double dose of Sea Foam through the gas tank.
Bad news is I still have the problem. The truck drives fine; in fact, I pulled my bass boat 75 mile round trip yesterday. Everything is OK till you hit the gas hard to merge or to go up a big hill or pass someone. When you hit the gas hard, SES starts flashing and there is a miss. I also noticed the valves ping loudly when the SES is flashing. The only code it's giving me is P0303.
Could this be a bad injector not delivering enough fuel at higher RPM/under load? I was going to swap injectors and see if the miss moves. Any tips on popping those injectors out?

My truck out of nowhere will start to idle low and die when put in reverse or drive then on other days sometimes it will start and run right. I got the code 44 witch it could be a o2 sensor but tomorrow I'm getting my catalytic converter took off and run straight pipe do I still need a o2 sensor without a catalytic converter or what's causing lean exhaust?

A friend of mine has had this 2000 Sierra since new. It has just over 100K and never had any cooling issues before. Last week when it was about 10 below zero she drove it home and it overheated and pumped a couple quarts of antifreeze overboard.
She refilled it the next day and it was fine but got it looked at by a local independent mechanic. I had told her that it was likely a sticky thermostat and it ought to be changed out anyways due to its age. The mechanic thought I was wrong and that she had driven it off to quickly in the super cold weather.

2 weeks ago a check engine light came on with P0351-Ignition Coil "A" Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction, took the car to Toyota dealer and replaced ignition coil for cylinder No1. I drove the car for about 10K and check engine light came on again with P0606-PCM Processor Fault.
For the past week I was monitoring the DTC's using INNOVA- CanOBD2 Code Reader 3030 (ordered ODB2 USB tool to check live data on a laptop, on it's way...). I had P0606 on all the time, about everyday. For 3 times I had P0157-O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank #2 Sensor #2) on.
What's the link between the two DTC's? Why not P0157 alone? Or P0606 alone? What is the procedure to diagnose this?

I have a code that just started popping up on my 2000 Yukon XL2500 with 93K. I know I have a spot on the side of the Muffler that was rotted out and patched by the previous owner. My question is would an exhaust leak that far back in the system throw off the O2 Sensor?

I just started having a problem with my 4wd.
When I push the button to select anything other than 2 hi, the indicator light for the selected range will flash for about 30 sec and then it reverts back to a steady light on the 2 hi button.
I have already replaced the pushbutton unit and nothing changed there.
How can I troubleshoot it from this point?

The truck has power steering when its turning to the left, but no power steering when its turning to the right. I've checked the fluid level, and there are no leaks that I can find.

I have a 96 Sierra with the 5.7L (R) engine. My a/c used to work fine...no problems. Then it started to only get really cold at highway speeds, plus you could also hear the compressor running (kind of making a clicking sound) when you push the a/c button to turn it on. I thought that the system needed to be recharged, so I bought a recharge bottle at Shucks that has a low pressure gauge on it.
It says that the low pressure port is the larger of the two and will only fit on the low pressure port, but it will only fit on the smaller port (right side port when looking at the compressor). With the a/c on max, the gauge reads 110, so I didn't try to recharge the system.
Then yesterday, my a/c won't even cool at highway speeds. It just blows warm air. The compressor is running (I can hear it, and the clutch turns). I disconnected the switch on the evaporator and the compressor stops, then restarts when I reconnect the switch.

The brake lights on my 97 GMC Sierra are not working right. When you apply the brakes the lights come on when you first press the pedal but then they immediately go out. I'm thinking brake pedal switch. Any other possibilities I should look at?

I just purchased a 91 sierra sle with the short bed. I am interested in buying a cap for it because the snap on tonneu cover is falling apart and id like a cap. Would caps from other full size short bed pickups work or does it have to be from a sierra/silverado?
Also i notice the oil pressure fluctuates from around 20 to 80 depending on if I am idle (20) to acceleration at 80, when driving it seems to go up and down to depending on the accelerator position. is this normal??

My speedometer is kicking on and off, it mainly does it at night when the lights are on, when this happens the transmission will gear down but If you hit the dash it will come back on and the transmission will gear back up. I have done so much I don't know what else to try.

I have a 98 gmc k 1500 350 5.7 . Was having an issue with the truck bucking it would die very briefly thought maybe bad gas. Added treatment and few days later it was doing the same this time back fire check engine lite came on checked code mass air and cam position sensor.
I pulled cap and when I was about to take rotor button out I noticed play I could actually push down on it. I pulled distributor and confirmed the play I replaced new complete distributor and yes I forgot to mark position so line tdc #1 compression stroke installed distributor timing was off.
But running rough so I re adjusted timing now it just cranks I have played with the timing alot so I tested the coil had some strange ohm readings ( high quality meter) and have voltage 12 vdc at coil and module replaced coil today still same thing I have fuel and 60 psi of fuel pressure and it holds with key off and it's not the pass lock security does not flash. Fuel pressure regulator can't be leaking.

I have a 1991 gmc 1/2 ton with 200K on it. Its a 350 engine. The engine has been stumbling for a long time. I've tried many things ...new fuel pump and filter...complete tune up.....checked all vacuum lines..replaced a couple lines...EGR valve.....changed head gasket and intake gasket. Checked the warm up flap inside the air cleaner. I am now very very frustrated.
This stumbling happens often but intermittent also....sometimes worse than other times like the truck is about to stall. The truck seems like its being held back like a loss of power. The truck will begin to stumble so i will pull over and rev it up and it seems to clear itself for a short while then right back to stumbling.
Upon warmup in the morning she seems to run fine until hot. No codes being thrown ...service engine light NOT on. Even while at a stop i will hold the throttle part way and revs at different rpms. I am now at a loss and feel defeated.
