Yesterday I heard a high-pitch noise/squeal coming from the vehicle and after some searching, figured out it was from the ventilation fan. It went away after 5 mins of being on but is rather annoying. Not too keen to take it in as I'm sure the dashboard will need to be removed and afraid it won't go back in perfectly.
View 7 RepliesJust replaced pads, rotors, caliper hardware, e-brake shoes and hardware and rear wheel bearing assembly on 2006 Santa Fe. Still get a high pitch sound after the car warms up in 5-10 miles. Sound is intermittent and gets somewhat louder as you drive.
View 2 RepliesThe T/O bearing makes a high pitch squeal until you put light pressure on clutch then it will go away. Does this thing have a preload on bearing at all times or should there be free play like in the old days??
Another thing that has me wondering is when I push clutch all the way in it actually puts a load on the engine. Having T/O bearing so bad it puts a load on the engine?
I purchased a new 2011/2012 Santa Fe (R2.2 VGTi Auto 7 Seater GLS AWD) recently and noticed a high pitch noise on the audio system. This high frequency disturbance is audible with the engine off (eliminating the alternator as being the source). This is also present with the volume set to a minimum.
View 14 Replies2002 Passat wagon. I recently had my independent VW shop install new front and rear brake pads and rotors that I provided. The pads are PBR Axis Deluxe ceramic pads. Soon after, the front brakes started a high pitch squeal - mostly when cold or wet.
I took it back to the mechanic and he told me there is nothing he can do about it - I must have defective pads and that maybe they are covered under warranty, as they certainly need to be replaced, ...
This shocked me, especially the lack of customer service, but because I provided the pads I don't think I have much leverage with them other than not to do business with them again.
Is there any way to quiet a squeaking brake pad? Might the mechanic not done something he should have done to prevent squeaks?
I noticed today that the temp got to be about 70 degrees today. I went to put on the ventilated seat, but it did not blow cool air. when I first got the car, it felt like as soon as I pushed the button cold air came out, It actually felt weird at first.
Now I can hear the fan going if I turn everything down, but it did not get cool.
2002 Ford Ranger 6 cylinder Manuel Drive, whenever you push on the accelerator makes a high pitch squeal. Changed Idler pulley and belt, No luck.

Then it will do it for a second at startup and quit. If the a/c system is turned off it comes back. I thought exhaust leak until I found the a/c link.
View 9 RepliesI've been noticing some new noises in my Elantra in the last couple of months.
First, there's a clunking noise that sounds like it's coming from the steering area. It usually happens when I back up and rotate the steering wheel, like when I back out of my parking spot. More often it's in the morning.
Second, when I turn the fan on there is a high pitched squeal. If you turn the fan off you can hear the squeal more clearly for a moment as the fans die down. This one only started happening in the last couple of weeks.
I guess I'll have to take it in and get them to take a look. Last year it was a squeaking in the pano roof which only happened when it was hot out. They seemed to have lessened it but it wasn't gone completely.
I have a 2011 F-350 Diesel. It started making a strange whining sound when I start it in the morning. Very random and only does it when it's 0- -4 c. Took it to the dealership and they said its the cooler fan clutch. Got it replaced yesterday, and this morning I started it up and the whining sound was back. It also had a weird vibrating sound. What it could be?

It wouldn't do it again unless I was just creeping, nothing going down the road. I did a few searches on here but they all are if the truck is moving say 30 mph or better. I know I need to replace my ball joints. 99 F250, V10, 4X4, extended cab.
View 8 RepliesFor a month or two now my truck has been making a squeal and the turbo has been sticking after hard acceleration. The sticking was a woebegone unison ring and I was hoping the squeal would be resolved when I cleaned the turbo but it didn't, in fact, it got worse.
It used to be occasionally and go away after warming up, but now it's more constant than not. It goes away when the VGT does its idle cycle and once you get up to speed.

I have a 2013 Prius c #2. At 62 mph and faster there is a high pitch sound that gets louder the faster it goes. I have asked two other Prius c owner's and they don't hear it. You will need to roll up the windows and turn the radio off to hear this.
View 13 RepliesMy 2013 GX makes this noise when I step on the gas padel when the speed is 70 mph or higher. It is not very loud but noticeable, even with the radio on. I noticed this these past two days on highway. There is no such sound during local drive or speed below 70. It sounds like it came from the engine compartment, but I am not 100% sure. Is this normal? Could it be from the wheels or chassis? My truck only got 1800 miles after 2 months driving.
View 14 RepliesI have a 1995 Lexus ES300 with 130,000 miles on it. When I reverse, I get a low-pitch growling and as as soon as I apply the brakes by a high-pitch, ungodly screech. This noise is definitely coming from the rear wheel areas. I'm not sure which tire is the culprit (I hear both sides from while listening from both the inside and outside). It happens frequently but is particularly bad on rainy, snowy, misty, or high humidity days. Two years ago I replaced the pads and rotors. At this point, the pads look to have about 40% life on them yet. This problem started happening about a year ago.
My initial thoughts were that it was just rusting because of the frequency on high moisture days. But both noises are way too loud for that. My second speculation was that the emergency brake was catching, but after examining it I think not. I've taken the entire assembly (brakes, rotors calipers, and emergency brake) at each tire apart and looked for any obvious issues that look incorrect. No luck. I've also applied brake quiet with similar results. Now my thoughts are that the low pitch is the rotors being warped. But that doesn't explain the screech and why it only occurs in reverse.
I have a 2002 Corolla with about 180,000 miles that has been well maintained, but I know very little about cars.
Over the past months, I've noticed the engine noise on acceleration sounds a bit louder than I would expect it to, and it seems to be getting louder over time. It's slow changing, so I'm a little unsure. And occasionally I wonder if I don't hear a sound that shouldn't be there, though I couldn't describe it yet. Mechanic said the acceleration noise is normal at start-up for older cars until they get warm, but this happens even after I've been driving a while. Worth the $100 for an engine checkup?
Also, the A/C doesn't seem to be the strongest and has a high pitch noise when I run it. Normal?
It was a very nice week and rolled my windows down at Disney resorts. I noticed a very high pitch noise that the brakes did not seem to impact.
View 11 RepliesMy friend and I both have the MK4 R32. He had a bunch of stuff replaced in the engine. (a bunch of plastic parts that are super expense, the timing chain, something related to the guide, basically the plastics that holds the engine cushion/absorb) Anyways, his engine sounds great and quiet at the same time with a little high pitch noise when the RPM is hanging in between 1K and 2K.
Our cars were in the garage and I did the same thing and it sounded NOT quiet, a lot more noise than his. There was an obvious difference in noise coming from the engine with the hood open. I do have cams and a light weight pulley. Can that have an affect on the engine noise? If I am not making sense, then i should probably video record the sound or take it to the dealership for a check up. Also, I am at 93K.
I have a 2007 Prius 3 Touring Edition. I purchased it new in Dec. 2006. I have had NO issues with my favorite car of all time, and currently have 90,600 miles. I have noticed a high pitch for a long time coming from the transaxle during acceleration. The pitch is only present when MG1 or MG2 is engaged. The pitch stops in stealth mode. My finance also has a 2007 Prius, and her's does not make the noise or whine when I drive her vehicle.
I have changed the transaxle fluid at 65,000 miles, but I did not see the plug when it was changed so I don't know how much, if any, shavings were stuck to the magnetic bolt. If you are wondering, yes, the high pitched noise was present before the fluid change. Also, as I accelerate and increase speed, the noise pitch increases.
Is my transaxle displaying a tell-tale sign of imminent failure?
I have a 2009 Gen. II with 48000 miles on it and it started having a high pitch noise when driving. Thought it was wind noise at first but does it at low speeds also. When you roll the right passenger side window down you can hear it much louder sounds like it is coming from the right front.
