I noticed today that the temp got to be about 70 degrees today. I went to put on the ventilated seat, but it did not blow cool air. when I first got the car, it felt like as soon as I pushed the button cold air came out, It actually felt weird at first.
Now I can hear the fan going if I turn everything down, but it did not get cool.
Yesterday I heard a high-pitch noise/squeal coming from the vehicle and after some searching, figured out it was from the ventilation fan. It went away after 5 mins of being on but is rather annoying. Not too keen to take it in as I'm sure the dashboard will need to be removed and afraid it won't go back in perfectly.

View 8 RepliesRecently, I've noticed that sometimes my driver's seat gets hot, even though the switch is in the cooling mode. I had gotten in the habit of turning the switch back to the detent "0" setting, and then put it back into the cooling mode (-1 to -3) and all would work well again. However, yesterday, that little trick didn't seem to work and so it seems my seat heater is being activated even when the switch is supposed to be telling it only to run the seat ventilation fan. Is it likely just a failing switch?
View 24 RepliesWell we got our first snowfall here and since buying the Tiguan and I had to clean windshields this morning. Go to lift the wipers off the windshield to clean under them and "THUNK"; they don't lift higher than a couple of inches above the windshield and they certainly don't stay there while I'm trying to scrape, brush, clear off snow and ice. The hinge on the wiper arm is below/under the trailing edge of the hood! This is a horrible design flaw.
Not mention that when knowing that we are going to get horrible freezing rain/snow, I would typically lift my wipers while away from the car so they would not freeze to the windshield. Clearly I cannot do this on the Tig.
This design flaw will lead to faster wearing of wiper blades through ice not being cleared and blades being frozen to the windshield in wet turning to freezing weather, a fairly common occurrence here. Like last night.
How do those of you in wintery climes deal with this issue? Is it only on the face-lifted '12s and '13s?
I have been having a mildew smell when using AC. I purchased a foaming cleaner that is mean to be sprayed by inserting a small tube in the evaporator pan drain, but the design on my santa fe drain hose prevents the tube from making it to the core. It always gets jammed up at firewall because of a 90 deg bend. Is there a port on the housing that allows access to the core?
View 15 RepliesI have purchased a new 2013 XC60 and the seat and mirror memories associated with my keyless Personal Car Communicator (PCC) system are not working properly and the dealer is apparently at a loss as to how to fix it. What is even worse, Volvo's documentation on the capability is contradictory and no one from Volvo (including National Tech Support) is able to explain how it is supposed to work.
The total problem is much too complicated to explain here in detail, but basically the driver's seat and side rear view mirrors do not respond to the PCC (key fob) in a predictable manner. One time use of a particular PCC will result in the seat and mirrors going to one location, and the next time they will go to a different location. Use of the buttons on the PCC will produce one result and use of the keyless capability with the same PCC will produce a different result.
I have determined that the settings saved in the seat memory buttons (there are 3 of them) sometimes play a part in where the seat and mirrors go when the PCC is used despite the Volvo documentation insisting that these memories are separate from each other.
Volvo Tech Support insists that they have no history of problems in this area but discussions with other customers, and even some of the Volvo sales people, make it clear that I am not the only one experiencing these issues.
Although the memory settings would normally just be considered a convenience option, I have found the issue to be a safety concern. On more than one occasion I was on the road before realizing that my rear view mirrors were pointed off in space somewhere and I could not use them to make a safe lane change or other maneuver.
A side observation is that the computer based functions in the car appear sluggish and seem many times to operate with a lag. I know that this car contains almost two dozen processor modules and maybe this topic deserves a separate thread, but it is as if the communications network is very slow or the modules are slow in waking up. I'm wondering if this is involved with the unpredictable seat and mirror memory operation.
I would like to hear from others who have had or are having similar problems.
2013 Prius C with Entune. The USB connection allows me to charge my iPod (3rd generation) and iPhone 4S but I cannot play music via that connection. The system is designed to allow playback through the USB, right? I plugged in a flashdrive and was able to play music. I have tried three cables and none allow the feed from the device into the audio system. I am able to connect into the Aux port and play music.
View 1 RepliesMy wife drives a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited which we bought new back in 09. she has put roughly 140,000 miles in that time span. We have religiously followed all required maintenance routines; this is the first major issue we have EVER had with our Santa Fe. The issue we are having involves the AC unit. Instead of blowing ice cold air, the air vents are blowing hot air as if the heater is on. I have check all major AC components and everything is working properly. I believe we are having a controls issue.
At one point, all vents would only blow hot air. The other day, the passenger side vents started blowing ice cold air while the driver side still blew hot air. The driver's side has not blown cold air since this issue started about a week ago. We do have dual climate control; I have tried every possible combination of controls to see if it's a particular switch or button; however, I have not had much luck.
The 40 of my 60/40 split seat rattles. If I fold it down it doesn't make a sound. I notice the rattle when going over bumps/cracks on the various Canadian roads. I did some investigating and found straps underneath the seat. One seems to have snapped off. What the straps are for? They are hooked to a bar half way underneath the seat and go to the back of the seat.

It looks as though the area where the screws are that hold this piece in are not very sturdy. I have only had this vehicle for 10 months now and I am hoping that this is something that is covered by warranty.

Wife said her trim on the driver's seat broke on her 2014 SFS. I can see some plastic part between the hinges is hanging. Got it together this far.
View 3 RepliesThis morning I asked the Hyandai dealer in Hilton Head, SC to repair the passenger seat belt warning bell in my 2014 Sante Fe. They said there was nothing wrong with the warning bell and that there was no error code in the system. They also claimed that the passenger front seat was not designed to have its own warning bell. Strange since it had always worked that way before. After a fairly long discussion it seems they did not want to fix this safety issue because it apparently involves replacing the seat.

View 4 RepliesI just picked up a new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, 2015. It now has about 1,400km on it and I have recently noticed a very annoying high pitched chirping rattle that is coming from somewhere in the back. I hear it inside of the car with me so I don't think there are any issues with the safety of the vehicle itself.
I notice the noise every time I drive, and more-so when the road is uneven. It sounds like a tin or metal object rattling against something else. I am not sure if the noise is coming from the back seats or the back door panels... or maybe even the tailgate. I have been trying to search similar issues but I don't know what else to do. I have a service appointment scheduled at the dealership next week but it seems that issues like this don't really get resolved because the mechanics can't pinpoint where they are coming from... or they can only offer a temporary fix. I really do not want my back seats or door panels removed so I am trying to pinpoint where the noise is coming from myself before I take it in so I can explain it to the mechanic in more detail...
When I took someone for a ride and he sat in the back seat to try and listen to the noise, it seemed to die down in sound quite a bit so that leads me to believe the seats may be the issue.
adjust the electrically adjustable seat to her position. Since that is quite further forward than my programmed position the seatbelt was quickly choking her. So before I knew (I was sitting next to her) she unbuckled, with a bang.The bang was because there was quite a lot of pressure on the seatbelt.
No harm, nothing broken, at least ... until I heard the ping ping ping sound even though both of our seatbelts were in their sockets or whatever you call them. Inserting again, no change. Still the 'seatbelt light' on + the annoying sound.
Should I try to open the seatbelt socket/block/the thing where you insert your seatbelt in and see if there is some broken wire inside ?
First trip with the new '14ES and the wife noticed the passenger seat heater seemed to stop working after a while. Checked the on-line owners manual and no mention of a timer there (just the steering wheel timer). Searching the ES forum did not bring up the answer either but some other models apparently have seat timers.
View 6 RepliesI noticed the other day that my passenger side heated seat is partially not working. The seat back is heated, but not the seat bottom. The driver's seat works perfectly.
I did a test over a 10 minute time period with the car idling in the garage (door open) and the HVAC system off. I did not touch the seats during the test. I took all readings with a contact-less infrared thermometer. At the beginning of the test, each seat portion was at 14C (57F). At the end of 10 minutes, the Driver's seat bottom and back, and the passenger's back had heated up to 20-22C (68-72F), but the passenger seat bottom had cooled down to 10C (50F). This temperature was the ambient temperature outside with the garage door open.
I checked the fuse, which of course it would be alright as 3/4 of the system is working. I took a look under the defective seat, but with the amplifier there, I didnt have much room to maneuver my big hands. All of the wiring harnesses looked like they were in place.
My 2001 Santa Fe has developed a failure in the rear seat back folding ratchet. I recently had my rear seats folded flat and when I came to restore them to normal use I found that the seat back ratchet would not engage.
I have taken the left hand (60%) seat out of the car and can clearly see that the cogs do not come together - well they almost do, but not enough to hold the back in position. How this can be adjusted?
