The last 3 times I have tried to fill up, I have had about 1/3 of a tank. Tthe pump runs for ~15 -20 litres and then shuts off. I cannot fill any further. I have 9/16ths in the tank now, 360km to empty. I will phone the dealer tomorrow. 42000km now.
View 29 RepliesOur 2012 prius three is a huge hassle to refuel because the auto shut off on any gas pump is triggered repeatedly regardless of how much fuel is in the car. This happens anywhere I fill up and the only way to get gas in is by slowing the flow to a trickle and restarting the pump each time it shuts off (perhaps 30 times per refueling).
The dealer says it requires a complete replacement of the tank but I'm still not clear on what's causing the problem.
I can't be able to fill the gas for my Hyundai sonata 2014 SE and pump has been shuts off automatically 2 times.I tried to fill from different pump and happened same again. This is a new car with 9 MONTHS old.
View 2 RepliesWhen the gas gauge of my recently purchased 2007 Santa Fe GLS 2.7 automatic is on E it will only take approx. 40 liters (11 gallons) at the pump. Manual says it's a 75 litre (19.8) gallon tank. Called dealership and service advisor said "they are all like that, you can go quite some distance on E". I think he's full of something that creates gas and there's a problem with either my float or the sending unit in the tank. Why in the world would anyone make a vehicle with a "reserve" pass E almost as much as what the gauge reads before E?
View 6 RepliesWell, just got back from my dealer - had them check into why after driving approximately 20 miles my fuel gauge registers 3/4 full. They said it has nothing to do with the cluster gauge everything checks out as accurate. My vehicle had the ECU 293 update applied at production. According to them is it because there is something preventing my fuel tank from filling all the way up. According to the service rep when the pump clicks off, my fill up is about 3-5 gallons short.
When I took delivery of the vehicle I noticed that the distance for the remaining (full) tank of gas read around 384. I've never seen that number again. Now when I do a fill up the best tops out at 310 or so. Where exactly did my 70+ additional miles until empty go?
They opened a case for my vehicle with Hyundai and said that Hyundai is already aware of this problem and they are working on a repair.
Have issues filling the santa fe? when I start filling, if i press the nozzle fully, it keeps clicking off on me. Even if I try to half press it, it still clicks off periodically. It's a real PITA, especially in the winter. 2013 Sport.

View 6 RepliesI have 4200K on my SF Sport Limited. Car was ultra quiet when running, perfect. Got my oil changed at the dealer yesterday, and now it idles rougher, and pretty much drive like i am in ECO mode. Turbo doesn't sound as smooth. This sucks. Looked at the receipt from the dealer and it says he used Castrol 5w20 oil. My manual and the oil cap say 5w30.
View 134 RepliesI went to fill up my Santa Fe's tank for the first time and was only able to get about 9 gallons in. The pump shut off when the car only had about 2/3 of the tank full. I let it be, but I really don't want to be dealing with this every week. Have issues put gas in? Any tricks/tips? I do live in California which requires a lot of equipment on the pumps to prevent gas fumes from escaping. I'm not sure if that's contributing to the premature shut-off.
View 12 RepliesA friend of mine almost crashed his 2014 Santa Fe during a snow storm, his washer fluid pump stopped working and he could not see in front of him on a bridge, he could not stop on a bridge. He has been scared to death. The dealer found out that the pump was completely rusted inside and out. It should be made of stainless. not steel. The dealer told him he was not the first to report this problem.
View 5 RepliesMy car starts up and it runs for about 5-10 min and then shuts off. then it will not start again while it is hot, if i leave it sit overnight then it will start again but the same problem will occur. the engine also has a misfire from the moment i start it up, how to diagnose this problem. And after you diagnose it can you tell me ways i can check the problems. for example if you say its the fuel pump tell me how to check to see if my pump is working.

Already Tried: Here's what I've done to my car recently: I have new engine coils, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, new thermostat. I got my fuel injectors cleaned, new mass airflow sensor, new water pump.
The 2006 Prius that my wife and I bought used last year has chosen a frustrating time to develop a problem. We're at 99,900 miles.
I went to fill up the gas (we were at one bar) and got about $0.30 in before the pump clicked off.
I tried again, and got just about as far.
I tried three different pumps at two stations before deciding the problem was with the car and not the pumps.
Can't figure this one out. I've had the car about 9 months and this is the first time I've ever had an issue filling it up with gas. Basically, if I tried to pump it much faster than a trickle, the pump would shut off. It must have taken me five minutes to pump a little less than nine gallons in. And the frustrating part about that is that you never know which of the click-offs is the one you should stop at.
View 19 RepliesI have a 93 Camry that quit on the highway. No spark, crack in condensor replaced distributer. Still not run. Rotor not turning, replaced timing belt, main engine fuse heating up replaced that. Now it starts right up but only runs 10 minutes. Then won't restart until several hours go by then it will start again. Runs like a champ when it starts.
View 1 RepliesMy 1993 Mazda B2600i starts up in the morning just fine. It runs for about 10 minutes and abruptly shuts off. I can crank it at full speed, (Good Battery), and it may attempt to start a few times and then it just cranks with no attempt to fire up. It just turns until the next day morning. Then it is the same thing all over again. I disconnected the fuel line from the out let of the fuel filter, leading to the fuel injectors and was able to fill a 2.5 cup glass jar in about 20 to 30 seconds.
I checked the ignition coil and there was spark there. Then I checked for spark at the #1 and #2 cylinders and detected the spark there as well. When the truck runs in the morning, for the 10 minutes that it runs, it seems to be very smooth in its operation. No abnormalities at all until it shuts off. I also listened to the fuel injectors with a screw driver at my ear and herd a fairly consistent clicking of the fuel injectors during the 10 minute operation of the engine.
Having a problem with my 1997 Buick Lesabre. It's a v6, automatic 4 door, and I live in good ole HOT Florida.
Anyway for about two weeks ago I went to start up the vehicle and it would turn over, run for about 2 seconds, and then turn off and did that about 5 or 6 times. Knowing very little about cars I had a friend try to jump me, and nothing, still wouldn't turn on. So I left the car there, came back five days later. It started and ran, and I drove straight to the mechanic. I had noticed my belt whistling a little so he put on a new built, fix a power steering pump fluid leak, and put on a new belt tensioner.
Anyway, I pick it up a week ago and it starts up no problem. Today the problem has started again. Some times now though it will start up, run for a little while and then just shut off. Doesn't seem to make a difference whether I am idling or not. Sometimes now though it will turn over, but not actually fire up and start.
Car starts runs rough for a few seconds then shuts off (spark plugs and 2 coils were replaced a few months ago). Coolant reservoir level was way low so I filled to the full line, kept the cap off to cycle. During the time the car starts, the coolant from the reservoir violently "boils" over (out of the reservoir). Huge amount of white smoke from the rear exhaust and a burning smell.
Used Techstream and got the following codes:
Engine and ECT: P0117, P0302, P3190, P3191
Hybrid Control: P0A0F
Intermittently get misfile codes but this time around they did not return.
I'm a little paranoid about letting the pump auto shut-off on its own when filling up. Every pump I've been too have a long spring and the nozzle doesn't go very far in, not like the regular gas pumps. So I stop it manually when I think it gets close to being full. Do you all just let it auto stop or stop it manually?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2002 corolla and every time I gas it up it seems to kick the pump off like its full (for instance if the car was on empty I could fill it and it would kick off at around 10 gallons) but If I keep pumping really slow i can fit another 3 gallons in it. Is this normal or not. I drive around 150 miles a day so i fill up quit often. It has done this for the last 80000 miles and I have just accepted it but since its been super cold out this winter I really don't want to stand out side no longer than I have to (it seems to take about 5-7 minutes just to get the extra 3 gallons in).
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2014 Prius- Pkg. 2 car. I had an '06 & an '08 Prius and kept the tire pressure @ 44 Lb.s for maximum mileage. I always fill my tank to the top well after the pump clicks off.
1) The dlr. told me I will only get an accurate MPG by not filling the tank after the pump clicks off. He claims the computer doesn't read the extra 1-2 gallons and that is causing me to get about 35 MPG even though the trip meter says 50 MPG.
2) The dlr. told me not to run my tires @ 44 lbs. Said it is a safety issue. I've been doing 44 lbs. since 2006 with great mileage and no safety issues.
Am I wrong for filling my tank to the top? My Prius has just over 600 miles today.
Having trouble filling gas tank, the pump nozzle keeps cutting off. Have to fill by dribbling the fuel in until filled. What the problem might be?
