The key FOB and the rear gate not opening? Salesman says the button is for the rear gate only to unlock it and not open it. Need to confirm whether it is supposed to open the trunk or just unlock it?

The car does make the beep when the key remote is pressed, but no open. Also, the top works fine. Gas door works fine. Manual release of trunk also works.
View 9 RepliesOkay, my keys are locked in my trunk. I called roadside assistance and they opened the car, but the trunk won't open with the button on the dash. The seat release levers are, of course, in the trunk, so there isn't a way in the trunk. Is there a way to get into the trunk and bypass the lock systems? It's a 2013 Sonata GLS by the way.

How to prevent anybody without the key fob in their possession from accessing my trunk?
View 14 RepliesHappened with both my 2012 and 2014 Elantras. Tried to solve it by removing one remote fob (I carry two complete sets of keys at all times), with only partial success.
Tried another suggested solution: wrapping the remaining fob in a silicone slip-over wrapping to mitigate accidental contact with the release.
Finally resolved it by removing the fuse that allows remote release of the trunk.
The accidental releases were becoming very inconvenient and problematic and I'm willing to manually pop it with the lever near the driver seat.
My wife's 07 santa fe has started to develop an issue with the fuel door not always opening when the button is pressed. I haven't had to use the manual release yet but sometimes you have to hit the button 5-10 times before you hear the click and it opens. The vehicle just went off warranty (of course!) and since the nearest Hyundai dealer is 2 1/2 hours away it would be nice to work on it myself.
View 48 RepliesA few days after having the rear window glass replaced now the rear door on my 07 Santa Fe will not open. I hear the electric motor locking/unlocking the mechanism but the handle won't open the gate.
I guess I will need to get to the locking mechanism but it seems to me that it will take a lot of work to get the rear panel off from inside the "trunk". Is this a somewhat common issue with the SF? Any way to get it fix.
I had problems with the 12v battery, it was drained and I had to recharge it, which meant disconnecting the negative/ground/earth cable. Ever since the rear door opening button on the outside of the car won't work.

View 4 Replies2013 SFS 2.0T.... Rear hatch locks/unlocks good. When opening hatch illumination light will NOT turn on. Yet I can manually turn it on (switch by the light itself). It will stay on forever if in that "mode".
Front passenger/driver light unit was replaced under warranty. Just recently noticed it that rear hatch light issue...
I recently bought a 20th and instead of the turbo going SWOOSH it sounds like the gate is opening and shutting rapidly as the pressure is exhausted. What is the cause?

Recently found that trunk area light will not turn ON when you open hatch (in DOOR mode). First I thought bulb is burned out ,but I can manually turn it ON and it will stay ON always or until I switch it to OFF. No recent hits/bump on hatch or any warning lights on dashboard that hatch is not closed. Alarm locks hatch and the rest of the locks OK.
Last week out of the blue, the lock/unlock button the driver's side door stopped working altogether. It's not stuck, as I can definitely feel it click when pressed. Also, the passenger side button works just fine. This is very annoying after spending a year without ever having to use the actual key fob.
View 7 RepliesToday I tried opening my roof... The trunk lid opened but the top didn't fold.. I closed it... After restarting my car I realized the front switch for the top doesn't even light anymore...
I unplugged the battery... replugged.. the switch opened the trunk lid again but top didn't move and switch was a solid red light... once I pressed closed, trunk lid closed and switch stopped lighting after (not responsive). What it could be?
Can I use my key to open my trunk in the case of a dead battery? I disconnected my battery last night to try it out, but it wouldn't open. Some people say turn the key 50 degrees, but I don't think my key will turn that far. I was also scared of snapping the key off in the lock.

Neither one of us can lift very much weight without causing pain flare up.In a youtube video of a 2014 Avalon, it looks like the trunk lid opens about 3 quarters of the way when the man showing the Avalon features pressed the key fob.

My dad went to get something from the trunk and I gave him the same instructions. Well when he did it (we were in the middle of a rain storm) all of the windows opened and not the trunk. Now this is what happens every time.
I'm not sure what happened, but I'm really missing opening my trunk through my key fob especially when my hands are full. Why this is happening and how I can open my trunk using the key fob again?
Having problem with trunk lid ....... it is occasionally opening without activation ....... sometimes I'm less than a 1/2 mi from home, sometimes one to two miles from home ...... trunk just opens and button (trunk release) on key fob has not been pushed ???
