Have had my Santa Fe now for about a week and the wife noticed a small flashing red light on dashboard almost to windshield. Looked in manual and cannot find anything about it.

View 21 RepliesIt was discovered last night that the third brake light (or Center High Mounted Stop Lamp/CHMSL) on our SF flashes a few times before going solid when I brake. I did a little searching and it seems that it is not legal in TX, so I guess I get to put in a call to the dealer today.
From what the interwebs say, it seems to be something dealers do as an added "safety feature" (and I even found research that shows it does get attention better than solid lights). There's a lot out there about people wanting to install this feature, and there are companies that do this for you. But I've never seen it on the road myself, and to be honest, it's kind of annoying. And the TX code is not the clearest, but I think it's saying "no flashing lights unless you're a bus."
Here's what I found from the TX transportation code:
(c) A person may not operate a motor vehicle equipped with a red, white, or blue beacon, flashing, or alternating light unless the equipment is:
(1) used as specifically authorized by this chapter; or
(2) a running lamp, headlamp, taillamp, backup lamp, or turn signal lamp that is used as authorized by law.
(d) A vehicle may be equipped with alternately flashing lighting equipment described by Section 547.701 or 547.702 only if the vehicle is:
(1) a school bus;
(2) an authorized emergency vehicle;
(3) a church bus that has the words "church bus" printed on the front and rear of the bus so as to be clearly discernible to other vehicle operators;
(4) a tow truck while under the direction of a law enforcement officer at the scene of an accident or while hooking up to a disabled vehicle on a roadway; or
(5) a tow truck with a mounted light bar which has turn signals and stop lamps in addition to those required by Sections 547.322, 547.323, and 547.324, Transportation Code.
I have a 2015 Santa Fe Sport and my dashboard backlight keeps changing instensity at random time intervals - sometimes after 20 minutes and sometimes after 10 minutes. What could be causing this?

Question: does this mean i have to replace the so called freon? or replace it? or is my entire unit trashed?

View 4 RepliesI just changed the whole bulb set (front and back) to LED and now my turn signals are hyper flashing. I read about the additional resistors but I doubt there is any space, whether in the front nor in the back, to place this resistors. Now, I understand that changing the Flasher is not an option on the 2014 DM model.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2011 Legacy Sedan with 40K miles. Three weeks ago, I drove the car 25 miles in 90+degree heat on the highway. I parked at a store, did not use the electronic parking brake and when I returned to the car 5 minutes later and started it, the dashboard BRAKE light was flashing. The brake was not engaged. I tried to engage and release it, but it would not engage, when I pushed the button the car 'chirped'. I drove the car home and garaged it. The next morning (after a cooler evening) the light no longer flashed. At that time I was able to engage and release the electronic parking brake and it worked as designed.
A similar sequence has occurred on four different occasions. When I start a cool car, no light. When I start the car after it's been run for a while, I'm getting the flashing light.
I've checked the brake fluid and it's fine. I've checked the OBD and it shows no codes.
Just the other day, I'm driving along and flashed my lights at another car so they can make a left turn into a parking lot. No big deal. However, when doing that, I noticed a buzzing noise when I pulled back the lever to engage the lights.
After I got home, I tested things out and found:
With my Euroswitch, I don't have any lights on during the day (no DRLs, etc). This is when this buzzing noise occurs. As it was getting dark out, I also noticed that when I pull the lever back to engage the high beams (i.e., to flash them) the dashboard would light up (like if I turned on the lights normally).
Now, if I have the park lights or headlights on already (which includes the dashboard), and flash the high beams, the buzzing noise does NOT happen.
It also doesn't happen when I push the lever forward to enable the high beams fully. The buzzing sound seems to come from the lower left, around my left knee area or near the steering column.
Why this is happening, and what the cause might be? What is the possible part that needs to be replaced?
I have a 2004 Jetta GLI 1.8T 6-speed. Seems like the old signature is gone.
Driving home yesterday and my dashboard battery light started flashing intermittently. This morning it came on and won't go off.
So far I have...
1. Tested alternator and battery with a multimeter and the results appear to be within normal ranges.
2. Pulled out the alternator and had it tested. It went through 7 test cycles on the bench and passed all of them.
3. Swapped out the battery with a new one.
4. Checked the charging system fuse.
5. Thoroughly cleaned the battery cables.
6. Cleaned the battery to chassis and engine to chassis ground cables.
The battery light stays on no matter what I do. What am I missing?
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with electrical problems that started showing up recently. One day the check battery light turned on and about 15 minutes later the AC would lose power intermittently. After parking the vehicle that day I tried to start up and only heard a rapid clicking sound. I exchanged the battery since it was still under warranty and everything seemed to work fine for one whole day. The next day the battery light turned on again, followed by the ABS warning light, and then the airbag warning light. Within about 5 minutes the dashboard back light started flickering and other warning lights started lighting up randomly. Within a minute of that the car shutoff and would not start back up again.

View 19 RepliesI recently bought a Santa fe 2007 Limited 3.3L, it has 101500 miles. The issue is that when i run the scan it has 3 minor sensors that needs to be replaced but my biggest concern is that the check engine light does not come on in the dashboard even when i turn the ignition to on.
I need to know if there is a fuse that can cause this or a bulb in the dashboard that i can replaced for myself or if it is something else.
I jump started my santafe becouse the battery was weak. After it started the check engine light on the dashboard came on and it stays on. What could the problem be.

So, i changed my oil recently, and at the same time changed both valve cover gaskets (front and rear were leaking). From time to time now, the oil light comes on, and goes off, flickers as i drive over bumps, but cant figure out what the problem is. Since the word "Oil" is too short of a term to search for on the forum it was hard to find many posts about it.
When i changed the valve cover gaskets, i went ahead and changed the plugs and wires as well, no Milkshake, no oil on plugs, .90 on the plugs (originals with 137k miles on them, ouch!) i had a small oil leak for a short time after i changed the oil (first time ive changed it on this vehicle) so i did not know how tight the oil filter had to be, but a slight tighten fixed that leak.
The car has the correct filter, using 10-30 (im in the desert) oil is staying right smack dab in the middle of the line, no burned smell from the oil, no milkshake on the dipstick, no oil in the coolant, Im at a loss on what to do next.
I have a tiny leak from the oil pan gasket, but nothing major, plan to replace this with my next oil change.
Looking for some info about the 4wd system.
My car is a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5 and several times i've seen the 4wd warning light start flashing. It happens right when i start up the engine, however if I turn the engine off and on again, the light will be off the next time it starts up.
I'm just trying to figure out what kind of problems this warning light would indicate, in case it stays on sometime. I like to plan ahead my car repairs and know what's going on with it. The car has like 190K + miles so it's getting there.
Also I try to avoid the dealer, so I was also wondering if a typical scan tool that most mechanics have could read the codes, or if would need to be done by Hyundai specifically.
My bride's 2013 v5 is flashing "Maintenance Required" at a little over 4600 miles. Way too early for the recommended 10K oil change (though we will probably do the first change at 5K)...
View 9 RepliesI have a 2008 Santa Fe with 64341 miles on it. This past weekend we had it inspected at the dealer. Drove it home, in the rain/snow, and it sat in the drive way for a day while it was raining. This morning when I went to go to work, still raining, the check engine light came on and was flashing. Went to auto zone to get the check engine light code, the said that it was a P0303 which according to them was a misfire in cylinder 3. So I brought it to the dealer to leave it and have them check it out. On the way their the check engine light started to flash, when I walked in and told the service desk that they said that it was a catastrophic failure.
View 10 RepliesAbout 4 months ago, I had the battery replaced since the car was not starting easily and they said voltage was not good. They also shimmed the ignition coil at the same time. I thought it was a bit early for a new battery but ok.
Last Friday I started getting a flashing battery light on the console but no other issues. Thought I would bring it in Monday.
Sunday I was driving on the highway and all warning lights came on, flashing, console died then came back on with a bunch of warning lights and then the car died. I managed to get off the highway with about 10% power and park in a lot. Car would not start once I turned it off, click, click, click, click like no power etc but rest of power in car seemed fine. Started fine Monday morning and I drove it to the dealership.
The dealership says the code was P2502 (Charging System Voltage). They are going to replace the Battery Sensor first and then if that doesn't work replace the Alternator.
I'm installing a new amber light on my 2013 F250 signal cab and was wondering where most people run the wires into the cab. It has a magnetic mount and I didn't want to put a hole in the roof. I have a cap on the truck and I also don't have a sliding rear window. This will not be a temp. install. Putting the wires in through a hole in the 3rd brake light?
View 3 RepliesLast night, while my wife was driving, the battery light on her instrument panel started flashing. This morning the battery light came back on when she started the car. As she was driving on the highway, the ABS light, the stability light, and couple other lights came on, plus her she was losing power to her wheels. She said it then felt like the car was towing a heavy object and that there was no power going to the wheels or any other part of the car. She was able to drive it a few miles to a parking lot, where it died.
When she tried to restart it, she heard a clicking sound, but had no power and the engine was not turning over. She could not remote lock the doors because the all power was gone.
The tow truck driver tested the car and said the battery is fine, but that the alternator was dead. She had it towed to the dealer, who also says it is the alternator that is the problem.
This all occurred after we had a previous, and resolved issue, to the instrument panel (including the light around the cigarette lighter) and the taillights going out intermittently. The dealer disconnected the electrical connection to the towing package and the lights have stayed on since.
Seems odd to have an alternator go on a two-year old vehicle (we bought it new in Jan 2011). Could it actually be the alternator or something else?
