Having issues with a creaking panoramic sunroof while its open? Its whenever i go over any bumps. I had the slight issue while it was closed but i applied some silicone to the wind visor and that prevents it from creaking while closed. Now the open issue.

View 3 Replies2013 Elantra GT prompted me to join. There is a creaking sound coming from the closed panoramic sunroof when I drive slowly over an uneven surface (e.g. driving over an uneven gravel driveway that has potholes). It is only an issue when the car is subject to a twisting action, and the roof is closed. For example, there is no creak when I drive 90 degrees over a speed bump; but, there is a creak if I drive over the speed bump at a diagonal. The creak disappears when the sunroof is open. I have taken the car back to the dealership several times and they don't know how to address the problem .
How this creak can be eliminated (without use of sledge hammer, which has crossed my mind at few times; also, driving with the sunroof open all the time is not an option for those of us living in the north).
This might be better in the section of sun-roof issues, but I could not see how to add it there. Our 2013 GT has less that 5 thousand miles on it, and we've developed a problem where on occasion the sunroof will suddenly open or close all by itself. Sometimes it will just move one way or the other 2 or 3 inches than stop. Sounds crazy, and like something that will be hard to find.

View 11 RepliesI posted in the minor warranty repair thread that among other issues my car was developing a creak in the dash. This noise is coming from the very forward most part of the dash were it meets the bottom of the windscreen. I know this for certain because if I apply pressure with my hand here the noise stops.
My vehicle is scheduled for it's first service next month and I was going to have this fixed. Problem is after looking at the hma service site and pulling up the crash pad removal procedures, it looks like it is not affixed to anything at the top portion closest to the wind screen. Seems to just be sitting there, with no mounting bolts or anything.
Also to remove the crash pad it looks like the entire dash needs to be taken apart. The noise has progressively been getting worse starting at the front centre part of the dash, to now running along the entire length corner to corner.
It only happens when the roof is open and it's as if a screw is a little loose.
View 4 Replies2013 SF Sport 2.0T ... This just started a couple of days ago. Worked fine until then. Neither the proximity key near the car and pressing the liftgate release, nor hitting the fob's "trunk open" button, NOR hitting the "unlock" button on the inside door panel will unlock the liftgate! If I hit the fob or press the outside release, the parking lights flash twice, but that's IT! No "unlock" and I can't open the lift gate. (I can't see them if I hit the inside the cabin button). All other locks work as they are supposed to.
View 3 RepliesWhen closing my glove box, it will open back out. That's if I slap it on and let go. I noticed that there are 2 notches sliding out of the glove box. If I push them in by hand, they slide out slowly. So I tried to close the glove box and keep my hand on it for a couple of seconds for the notches to slide. It stays closed this way. I'm suspecting this is tied to the cold weather we're having lately. I hope I don't have to take it apart to re-lube it or anything like that.

View 10 RepliesThe wife and I bought a 2014 Santa Fe 2.4 FWD back in August and so far we are pretty happy with it. A few issues have come up in the first couple months of ownership.
1) The dreaded squeak from the rear passenger side started a couple months ago. I’m going to try the easy fixes first (adjusting the tailgate stops, etc) then take it to the dealership if that doesn't work. I hope they don’t have to do the spot weld fix but if that’s what it is, oh well.

View 3 RepliesLately, been hearing a lot of creaking noises coming from the sunroof in the closed position. I have open and closed it a few times just to make sure it was aligned improperly. Maybe it was a one-time thing from having it open on a nice day but it has been pretty consistent now. Seems to be fine otherwise, opens and closes, no wind noise when closed, etc.
View 11 Replies2008 Camry SE V6 with sunroof ticking / creaking / moonroof structure noise. Car has 50K miles on it. Has been in 1 slight driver side scrape accident but no crunching. Dealer says it's about 6.5 hrs labor to fix since my car is way passed the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. TSB doesn't extend it at all.

2012 Sonata Limited... I purchased my car in November of 2011. It had allegedly been driven for 5500 miles by a salesperson at the dealership.
Within a week, both my husband and I noticed that the cruise control would simply not go on every once in a while. The dealer claims to have taken apart the cruise control, looking for problems, but says there are no problems; that I should come back in after docummenting problems more specifically.
I also continue to hear the creaking noise in the sun-roof area. Allegedly, the Body Shop adjusted the headliner clips, but I still hear creaking.
I am most concerned with the cruise control, but annoyed at the dealer for keeping my car for over two weeks and having achieved nothing. I like the car, but this kind of a start with it makes me want to sell it and go get either another Honda or a used Volvo.
I was driving to work this morning and went to open my sunroof and as I always do I hit the button and it opens to a point, then I hold the button down and it opens another inch or so. I realized I always do that, open it that little extra.
My curiosity is why doesn't it just open all the way? What's the point of that little extra bit? I am sure it has something to do with air flow.
My car has been acting up lately I don't know what's wrong with it but everytime I turn it on the sun roof will open half way I don't know y or sometimes interior lights wont work or ill have trouble opening the gas tank ... but the worse is that it just started raining a couple days ago and now my sun roof started doing, why?
