My 2014 Santa Fe suffers from the creaking dash (in the center) and I would like to know the fix when I have the windshield removed. Is it as simple as putting foam or rubber between the mounts and the dash or is there more to it than that?
View 11 RepliesI posted in the minor warranty repair thread that among other issues my car was developing a creak in the dash. This noise is coming from the very forward most part of the dash were it meets the bottom of the windscreen. I know this for certain because if I apply pressure with my hand here the noise stops.
My vehicle is scheduled for it's first service next month and I was going to have this fixed. Problem is after looking at the hma service site and pulling up the crash pad removal procedures, it looks like it is not affixed to anything at the top portion closest to the wind screen. Seems to just be sitting there, with no mounting bolts or anything.
Also to remove the crash pad it looks like the entire dash needs to be taken apart. The noise has progressively been getting worse starting at the front centre part of the dash, to now running along the entire length corner to corner.
I've got a case of dash rattle. I hit a small bump and I hear a small but plasticky rattle sound from (I think) the center of my plasticky dash. IT BUGS ME!
I wonder how I'd be letting the dealer tear apart my dash. The car has been on the road a full 2 months... First new car with dash rattle.
Having issues with a creaking panoramic sunroof while its open? Its whenever i go over any bumps. I had the slight issue while it was closed but i applied some silicone to the wind visor and that prevents it from creaking while closed. Now the open issue.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2013 GS, RWD. 33k miles. This is my third Lexus. Wife owns an 05 GX that we will drive till it dies. Had a 2010 RX also. The problem I'm about to describe occurred on the RX and now this GS which makes me crazy. The bottom line is that I have an intermittent noise that comes from the center of my dash. It sounds like someone is clicking a PC mouse very, very fast. It sounds like it is coming from behind the navigation. I've had it to the dealer multiple times and gone all the way to corporate.
The problem is that I have a Murphy's Law situation in that it doesn't occur on demand. I've even sent them a video of the noise but since they don't hear it themselves they won't touch my dash to fix it. Since it had this same noise now on two different vehicles I know it is a manufacturer problem and not just one vehicle. Both cars have navigation.
Having problems with center console not shutting properly? A few days ago out of the blue it would not shut, almost as though something was blocking it. If I push really hard it clicks shut but when I go to open it again it takes a lot of unusual force to open.
View 8 RepliesOk, I can live with little things like the drivers side pillar not being completed seated and flush, or the drivers seat rocking a little from time to time.
But the thing that annoys me the most is the center console armrest lid squeaking every time you lean against it. I drove 3 SFS's before I bought mine. All of them squeaked.
Any fix for this to stop it from squeaking? Besides going to the dealer and getting the run around.
It started happening after our week vacation at the beach. Not sure if the salty air caused this or what. We mainly notice it at lower speeds on bumpy/gravel roads. No noise when the sunroof is open.
View 3 RepliesI hope I'm just missing a switch (and I did check the owner's manual but found nothing). Picked up a 2017 Santa Fe 2.0T SE AWD today. Traded in my 2013 2.0T AWD which I drove for 148,000 kms without a single problem. Not the case so far with the newbie. Took it out tonight and although I had the dash brightness set to max all that was lit up was the touchscreen radio/phone screen and the screen where the temperature displays. No buttons were lit up like they would have been in the 2013 or like they are in my daughter's Elantra GLS. Is there a setting or switch I need to adjust? Or is it more likely a fuse? Or even a wiring/sensor issue?

For the past few months, my 2010 Corolla S has made a weird creaking sound when I drive on the highway - what this could be? It really only happens when I get above 60-65mph, sounds something behind the radio is falling apart.
It has about 50K miles, and I've had it since it was brand new. This has just recently started.
Maybe this is normal, not sure, but my previous car was a 2001 Camry, and it never made any noises like this.
I was planning on taking it to the shop, but I wanted to ask around first, since I replaced my brakes/rotors in January, and just put 4 new tires on the car - a little tired of throwing money at it!

The center console in my 2010 Prius III is making a constant plasticy creaking noise that is driving me insane! :crazy:
Is this common in the 2010 Prius? I can temporarily stop the noise by pressing down on the console.
I have a creaking noise that appears to be coming from the bottom part of the windshield or underneath the dash in that area.
View 6 RepliesAfter I hit about 1k miles on my XLE I developed a creaking noise on the right side of the dash. It can be heard on all but the smoothest roads at any speed over 20-25 MPH. The rougher the road the worse it gets. At first I thought it was something in the glove box because after repositioning stuff the noise went away temporarily. When it came back I removed everything from the glove box. Having the box door open has no affect and the creaking is still present. I would describe the noise as if two pieces of plastic were rubbing on each other. I have tried applying pressure in all directions to all visible surfaces. It seems I can change the noise or temporarily stop it my pushing on the dash about one inch to the right of the NAV system one inch above the wood trim panel. This usually changes or stops the noise but not always.
Now I have been an auto tech for 30+ years and know finding and fixing rattles, wind noise etc. I figure I will attempt to fix it my self. My first thought was to remove the glove box and take a look around. Do to the 10 million air bags this does not look like an easy task. I have Michell 1 at work so I took a look at the procedure to remove the passenger side dash airbags as I could find nothing about removing the glove box. I only spent about 30 minutes today looking in Michell and partially removing some of what looks to be stopping me.
I was hoping it would be easy. If I have to pull too many pieces off I may loose the ability to find the creak. If I need to remove the air bags I will need to disable the system and drive without the system to find the noise. I suppose I could take in to the dealer to have them not fix it and f up who knows what in the process.
I have 2008 azera and the dash is creaking noise, I tried felt tape across the length of the dash still the noise, sounds like the windshield is flexing or the dash is flexing when I take off and driving any solutions don't tell me to turn up the volume on the radio.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 V6 EX Honda Accord Sedan, and I recently have been hearing a moaning/creaking noise that seems to be coming from behind the drivers side dash. It seems to happen randomly (not correlated to the brakes, turning, accelerating, etc.) and just happens every few minutes or so. Sometimes it stops for a while then starts doing it again. The sound itself only lasts about 2 seconds each time and goes from lower pitch to a higher pitch. I just had my transmission fluid drained and filled and oil changed, but this started happening right before these changes. My engine maintenance light was on, but I figured that was for my oil change or tranny fluid and it just wasn't reset (so I turned it off...maybe not a good idea), but now I'm thinking it was for the problem that's causing this sound.

1)i had heard some creaking noise when going over speed bump
2)some rattling/ creaking noise from the front dash.
3)check engine light appeared
4)gas cap warning light appeared intermittantly.
VW dealer done the following jobs.
1)2328 Verified Creaking noise from both from lwer control arm bushings As per TB 40 08 01 noise coming from both front bushings.
40205653 Wishbone mounting replace.
40172003 Lower wishbone remove + reintall
2 1K0-406-182 Rubb Mount
6 N-103-320-02 Nut
2 N-101-410-03 Bolt
4 N-107-063-01 Screw
2) 2327 Found noise coming from trim piece surrounding radio
68221900 instrument panel trim remove + reinstall.Installed anti rattle tape to trim backing and mounting surface.
3)&4) 01320021 Technical check
2324 possible loose gas cap 01320021=0.2 Performed DTC Readout
P0456 EVAP System very small leak detected. Checked fuel tank sealing several times in basic settings 71. Passes.
Inspected gas cap and adjacent seal. OK. Raised Vehicle inspected fule tank and lines. OK. Operating to specification at this time. Erased DTC's.
With all that done above, I got back my car and i am yet to see if there's any noise coming from the radio rattling and the suspension creak. What the heck did they do to my car on the item #3 #4? What is Erased DTC's and TB 40 08 01?
I am quite displeased with the creaking and rattling noises I keep getting from my 2012 3.6 Premium's door panels and dash. I have already had these looked at by a dealership multiple times in the last year or so. Each time they "fix" it, the noises go away for some weeks and always keep coming back in one form or another.
I have an appointment with a different dealership this week. I hope they will be able to fix this for good. However, the noises have really spoiled the experience of this car. I wonder if all Passat's suffer from this issue. Just wanted to vent, don't know how else to let it out of my system
So I just turned 1000 miles and when I turned my car off this morning, I heard what sounded like a creaking sound. It happened when I started it too. Im thinking its mechanical and its probably normal but I didn't hear it until it turned 1000 miles. Ill try and post a vid.
View 4 RepliesThe noise is more like a creaking noise than a metal on metal grinding noise. I just wanted to add, that I have this same problem with my 13' GT....I brought it into the dealer about 2 weeks ago. They drove it with me, he heard the noise and said...not sure...sounds normal. I said that is NOT a normal sound for breaks to making on a new car with 7500 miles on it. They brought it in, ended up "scuffing" the rotors up and said nothing else they could do.
That worked for about 10 days, but the noise it back again! I am glad I found this thread, i will be calling them today....They called me back and said i can drop it off next week for the day and they will give me a loaner for the day. I told them that the noise is NOT normal and not acceptable, especially on such a new car...
