Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Battery Warning Came On With Engine Running
Oct 4, 2016
Coming home this morning the "Caution you're running on Battery power" warning came on several times. At next start all seemed back to normal.

View 9 RepliesWinter is coming and I often leave the car running in the morning when stopping a few minutes to drop off the kids, etc. (otherwise it all fogs up and I need to wait a few minutes again before I can leave).
Issue is, when the santa fe engine is running, if I close the door, the car beeps for like 5 seconds, every time I close a door. (Close my door, beepppp, get the kid, beeeeeepppppp, get the bag, beeeepppppppppp) and then, I cant lock the doors so I have to leave the car unlocked after it has beeped 3x 5 seconds to alert anyone around that the doors are unlocked and that it's still running.
Hyundai is supposed to install my remote starter next week, which at least will fix the issue of being unable to leave the car running with the doors locked, but the beeping all the time is REALLY ANNOYING. I KNOW THAT MY CAR IS STILL RUNNING. Dealer is telling me they cant disable the beep.
AWD Warning Light comes on from time to time over the last week or so, estimated ever 4th-5th time I start the vehicle. No weird noises or odors, no sign of liquid substances on the driveway, drives fine in the snow etc. I wonder would dirt/grime/salt come in to play on the sensors?
Had an appointment to go to the dealership but cancelled because it didn't come on in while, but came back on today. I turned off the vehicle, and started back up and it was gone again. I find it's a total waste of time to go to a dealership unless the light is actually on at the time.
I've noticed that the display shows the Battery Discharge warning while the vehicle is running. I notice it while reversing, because - well, I'm watching the image from the camera. The message goes away in a few seconds and the regular "look around you" advice appears. It doesn't happen every time nor does it follow a change in weather. Just random occurrences.
View 10 RepliesA couple of times this winter my 2007 Santa Fe with a 3.3 engine acted like it didn't want to start. I thought battery! However, it stopped doing that, and I kept driving it.
On the way home from work, I noticed the ESC Off light showing, so I pushed the button and it stayed lit. Then I noticed the battery warning light lit. Made it home and pulled into the garage. Turned off the engine and tried to start, no go.
I have changed two batteries this year in my two other Hyundai's, so I just pulled it and got a new one. Installed the new one, started the engine, and the battery warning light is still lit. Must be the alternator.
I have 68k on the vehicle, so I counted myself lucky that the battery lasted that long. I guess I am due for a new alternator too.
What are the chances that it is just the regulator? Can I safely drive to and from work then to the dealership. Round trip is 30 miles.
The alternator on my wifes '07 Santa Fe (2.2 CRDI) broke down when one of the internal diodes gave up last week. The battery warning light came on when she was driving to work. Since then the Alternator has been rebuilt and refitted, and the battery fully charged. The car now runs fine and the Alternator is putting out around 14.6v so charging the battery OK. The only problem is the warning light is still on. How to get it to turn off ?
View 21 RepliesSome years back my "farm" '05 prius when a host of bells and whistles went off, cooling fan ran more than normal, and I lost power a couple of times. Turned out this farm prius had an accumulation of dirt, dog hair, hay and other debris that needed to be cleaned out. You got me through the whole process, and the car's run fine until.... . Fast forward a couple of years to 200,003 miles. Now the cooling fan is running pretty constantly, the red triangle stays lit, the check engine light comes on, the (!) is on, and the VSC light is on. Haven't hooked it up to check codes, but did check cooling fan and it's clean. Would it possibly possibly better to change the 12 volt battery?

View 1 Replies2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T FWD / 16,000 miles. All fluids full / up-to-date
On two occasions we've had a warning light appear that is not the CEL. It's a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle of it. The first time, my wife called and told me about it and it only appeared for a few minutes and disappeared. I checked the codes and there were none--that was several months ago.
The second time it happened (a few weeks ago), I was driving on an interstate at 70 mph with the cruise control on. The aforementioned indicator light appeared for about two minutes and disappeared. I immediately called Hyundai Bluelink (within a minute) and asked them to look at the code history and they advised they couldn't see any indication of malfunctions. They further advised that indicator meant that maintenance was needed and that I should make an appointment with the dealer. I pushed them for more info, but the operator remained vague about what maintenance my Santa Fe required.
Why does it only illuminate for a few minutes?
This morning I asked the Hyandai dealer in Hilton Head, SC to repair the passenger seat belt warning bell in my 2014 Sante Fe. They said there was nothing wrong with the warning bell and that there was no error code in the system. They also claimed that the passenger front seat was not designed to have its own warning bell. Strange since it had always worked that way before. After a fairly long discussion it seems they did not want to fix this safety issue because it apparently involves replacing the seat.
View 3 Replies2014 Sport bought new with 2400 miles is showing the yellow warning light that the level is low when in fact it's full. What the problem is so when I take it in for it's first oil change this week I could explain better to the service department. This is my wife's car.
View 5 RepliesSFS less than 2K miles, noticed coolant on garage floor, chked coolant bottle nearly MT. Dropped engine air flow control panel. Found fresh coolant and stains running dwn both metal tubes leading to trans cooler. This is the 3rd Hyundai vehicle in 15 yrs, first negative experience, off to the dealer.
View 2 RepliesThis little engine runs very hot. To make matters worst the radiator fan comes on high on the gauge temperature reading unlike other cars I have had in the past. What else to do to run the engine cooler without affecting fuel economy? I wish there was a way to make the radiator fan come on at a lower temperature.
View 5 RepliesI am enjoying my new ES350, however an issue I run into is do I keep the radio running when I turn off the engine?
The only way I have had luck continuing to listen to the radio is to turn the engine off and hit the start/stop button again. At that time the radio seems to reboot with the enform screen coming on. While workable there is some delay in the radio turning back on.
In the traditional key based On/Off there is a intermediate spot where I can turn the engine off but it still keeps the radio powered on. Anything similar in the ES350?
Whilst about half way into an 8 hour drive to NYC my engine temp warning light goes off.
Blast the heater and pull over at the next closest rest stop.
No leak to be found. Looks as though the coolant level is okay Burk can't tell since the car hasn't cooled down yet. Engine bay doesn't seem crazy good. No strange smells.
Turn the car off then on and the warning turns off. I let the car cool for 20 min then back on the road. Warning comes on again on the highway.
What it could be? Possibly the thermostat? Could this fix itself?
My hybrid battery is shot and I do plan on rebuilding it when I can afford the cells. I was talking with Mike at xvipers.com yesterday and he said he could disable the hybrid system and make it run on the engine only for $40. He also says it will get 27mpg that way which is not bad. How one could do this?
View 19 Repliesup. Coolant temperature was high (160 F). Car was in low speed (5-10 mph because of traffic). Battery level was high (67.8% 7 pips).
But gas engine was still running non-stop.
Checked battery temperature. It was 28 F.
Switched from recirculating to fresh air mode. The battery temp raised from 28 F to around above 32 F rather quickly. Then the gas engine stopped and car started to run on full EV mode.
Did not know the fresh air mode will have such a prominent effect on battery temp...
Will use more fresh air mode in summer when the AC is blasting.
I have a 2002 Santa Fe V6. I'm getting the codes p1529, p0755, p0760, & p0765.
The car can start up & go, only for a short time. Engine will keep running, car won't move.
Kill the engine for 3 to 5 minutes, can start it up & go once again. Going 40mph increases the odds of the car not moving quicker.
Recently I changed the spark plug and I made a mistake crossing the spark plug wires. here I noticed that the check engine warning don't turn on.
Also I had other problem with idle air valve and also the check engine warning don't turn on.
The light is working fine because when I acct the key it is turning on. The problem is detecting a fail it don't turning on.
Is there a way to step out and lock the doors with the engine still running?
View 12 RepliesI just bought a 2013 Elantra GLS last weekend. When the engine is running at idle and I'm standing outside of the car, the engine seems to be noisy. Maybe to the point where there is a small exhaust leak somewhere. I don't notice the noise when I'm driving the car - interior noise seems normal. Is it normal for the 1.8L engine to be a bit noisy at idle? The car just turned 100 miles.
