View 10 RepliesMy 15' SFS 2.4l has been doing this since around the 10,000km mark, it now has 26,600Kms and it seems that when I come to a stop at a light the hesitation has gotten worse! When I mentioned it the first time to my Hyundai dealer they said on one of my oil changes they would put in an additive to clean the injectors (I said it shouldn't be doing this as it is a brand new vehicle) and now other the last 16,000kms since the additive was put in I'm finding it is getting slightly worse. The idle dips up and down a very Mina's amount resulting in almost what would be a cat purring sort of vibration (weird way to describe it) but that's honestly what it's like. I checked to see if there was a cat stuck under my hood but their was nothing (I'm kidding).
View 17 RepliesJust new today a low grumble when in motion. Not the engine, all gauges check. This sound, it's constant unless I am at a complete stop, a lower sound than the engine running. There has been a putter sound for a while now, was told that was an exhaust leak. That sound I thought sounded like the bolts on the front fan hitting something, cuz that happened before, but so mechanic said it was an exhaust leak. That a very faint putter sound. So what have I got left? Something front end, I have a tiny clunk when breaking and taking off. It doesn't seem to be related to the usual stuff I've already had happen. Breaks are fine, tires wearing evenly, engine doesn't skip a beat, temp good, isn't the sound of low steering fluid cuz I know that one.
Could where ever an exhaust leak be finally break loose? I know diesel mechanics but who looks at the wheels and shocks and stuff? Just sounds like something in addition to the engine, not tire on pavement hum but something lower. Sort of surrounds you, windows up it is very faint. Doesn't affect anything either, that I can tell. Muffler? I do have a vibration noise on and off with the muffler. The best I can describe it is a low constant noise while I'm driving and it's there going slow and fast. More audible with the windows open. All I know is I don't wanna die in that truck. Been under it before and other than old leak stains, all I've ever seen is dirt in my eye. What kinda shop does shocks and wheel stuff? What can an exhaust leak do to me? Not even a vibration to go with this noise. I just don't know, this is new.
I've got a 2002 subaru legacy wagon, 150k miles. Over the past year or so (a real guess, can't really remember when it started) it's developed a wowowow noise that happens when turning. The car has to be moving - just turning the steering wheel while stationary does not make any noise. I can't tell if it's only coming from left or right side of the car or the front or back. It also doesn't happen when driving in a straight line. The wow's are faster when the car is going faster but the frequency is very roughly 4 per second at 40 mph. The noise itself is pretty low and grumble, and kind of sounds like James Earl Jones saying "wow wow wow wow".
View 19 RepliesI replaced my original wheel bearings at 90-95k miles. I'm at 145k now and seems like my wheel bearings are going out again. Very loud whir/grumble from what seems like the left side. When going straight or turning right, you don't' hear it much. But turning left it gets louder and very pronounced.
I do drive fairly aggressively and have upper strut brace, lower frame stiffener and so on. Plus it's a Touring edition and I do like taking my on/off ramps with zest.
Anyways, what would be the best quality/brand of wheel bearings to replace? Last time I had a friend replace them who is a Toyota mechanic and he did it at his house. He told me he used Toyota parts. I'm the type who likes to use OEM, but these don't seem to be holding up well??
Replacing front wheel bearings on my 99 Passat? There is a gentle 'wahwahwah' grumble at speeds over 40mph. The car has done 130,000 miles and is otherwise in nice condition.
View 3 RepliesTonight I left my wife in the car as I ran inside a store, when I returned she said the car was making a weird noise. I didn't hear it until later after we were moving, but she was hearing it sitting still, no engine idle (battery at 5 bars) but A/C was running. I am suspecting maybe it has something to do with A/C.
The noise sounds like a low grumble rubbing. She said at first she thought someone was rubbing something against the car. But it seems to be coming from the passenger side dash, like behind the top glove box.
I got my car inspected this summer, and the front brakes were reported as 8 and my rear brakes 6. I got front brakes not too long ago, and my rear brakes are original to the car. Recently, my brakes have very randomly (maybe once per car ride) started making a gentle squeaking or light grinding / grumbling noise when I apply the brakes. It doesn't seem to matter how hard I apply them or at what point during the car ride it is. Now, it will never squeak or grumble/grind at the same time, and the sound is never very loud. It also does not happen when my foot is off the brake or when the brake is released. Only when the brake is applied.
I've had squeaking happen in my previous car's rear brakes when some fluid was leaking, and my rear brakes had to be serviced, however, this sounds like it is coming from the front. I went looking in my owner's manual for a service schedule (for a maintenance code not related to this issue) and noted in very small print underneath the schedule that I should have replaced my brake fluid about a year ago. I don't know whether this could be related, and yes, I am going to get my car checked/serviced soon, but I cannot do it until next week. My questions are what might be causing the noise and also if it could be dangerous. I don't think that my brake pads are worn. The brakes also function very well as far as I can tell. I have no issues stopping. I have 75K miles on my car...
2014 se , 7k miles. Get a pretty noticeable sound. its hard to explain its kinda like a grumble for about two seconds. on very cold weather starts.
View 7 RepliesI'm assuming I might have a coil going but I'm not sure. Yesterday morning and this morning I started my truck and it was fine, I backed out the driveway again truck was fine. I put it into D and pull forward it was fine till I hit about 1300rpm, then it felt trike the truck was stumbling, I went a little faster to 1500/1600rpm and it stopped, as soon as I slowed up and then hit the go pedal it started again at around 1300rpm and stayed till 1600rpm and then it went away. So this is twice now two days in a row this has happened the exact way and only in the morning and goes away with no problems. I hooked up my SCT X3 and there are no codes and when it stumbles I have no lights come up. What I should do?
View 14 Replies1999 F350 7.3TD auto 4x4 crew 8'. I've noticed that I get a soft, low, short grumble from the rear end when leaving a stop with a load.
My son just used the truck and says he thinks the rear is binding while in reverse while backing into a parking space, wheels turned.
What are the potential problems here? I've heard a fluid change with "anti-slip additive" could be the answer. Which anti slip additive should I use?
I got a SFS 2.0 Turbo 2014 about 20 days ago. The car is back with black interior and navigation package.
Since day 1 I had noticed that the fan always blows hot air, no matter what the outside temperature is. Air conditioner cools the car sufficiently, but low temperature setting on the thermostat is needed.I feel the fan is pulling hot air from the engine compartment.
I am due for a service in about 30 days.
I just bought a new 2017 Santa Fe Sport in May, have 1500 miles on it. I STRONGLY suspect that I have a 14 gal fuel tank rather than the 17.4 gal as advertised. I have never been able to put more than 12.5 gallons in it, even when on E, and I mean E, like -- Empty. The P/N # on the tank reads 31151-47000, but since the SF is brand new, I cannot locate the correct P/N number.
I called the dealer and they stated that according to their OEM specs, that vehicle SHOULD have only a 14 gal tank which makes no sense as it is NOT what is advertised, and would be smaller than a Tucson. Dealer told me Hyundai does not even make a 17.4 gal tank.
The dealer told me they would "get with region" and call me back within 2 days. That was 10 days ago. I am not expecting to fill up my tank 17 gallons each time, but you cannot tell me that there is a 5 gallon "reserve" in my fuel tank.
The BSD light came on today, only have 1400 miles on the vehicle, getting it checked out tomorrow.
View 16 RepliesWhere is the air intake for the cabin recirc inside the cabin? I have a musty smell (bad) when turning on the fan without AC. More on recirc but sometimes on fresh. I turned on AC and sprayed Lysol into the fresh air for 20 seconds. Where can I spray to allow Lysol to get into the recirc air circuit?
Need to clean out musty air from vents when fan is on but AC is not
i can't switch on my car (sonata 2013 ) when i finished go to super market i'm switch off as usual but in next day i try to switched on but no function i'm always check my car at Hyundai company in saudi arabia but i don't know what happened to my car today
View 2 RepliesMy wife has a '13 Santa Fe 2.0T, and every now and then it smells of raw fuel. It's happened enough that I really think its her car and not some other one that close. 6k on it.
View 21 RepliesMy wife bought a brand new 2014 Santa Fe (with the V6 and 3rd row seating) and has been driving it for a little over a year (a little over 15k miles). Today when she left work, the blue link popped up on the screen and said for her to press the call button, the check engine light came on and she also said the a/c quit blowing cold air and was just blowing hot air. She pulled over and called me instead. While she waited on me, she said it continued to blow hot air, so she cut the vehicle off. When I got there, I couldn't see anything visually wrong with it. Coolant level was fine. Oil level was fine. The drive belt was fine...nothing wrong. I started it up and the check engine light came back on, but no blue link. Everything seemed fine, so I drove it home and she drove my car home. It ran fine all the way back. Nothing wrong but a check engine light on. I put my code reader on it and showed a P2098. I googled it and it showed this...
P2098 Hyundai - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 2
Possible causes
- Low fuel pressure
- Engine misfire
- Large vacuum leak
- Blocked converter
- Faulty O2 sensor bank 2
...now with this being a fairly new vehicle, I can't really see any of these things being the problem. She is due an oil change, so we will have them check it out when we get that done in a couple days. I already checked the gas cap and I haven't cleared the code, just so the dealership can see it for warranty purposes.
My sante fe turbo has a bad surge when you are on the throttle it just dont pull smooth at all.
View 3 RepliesRear wheels aren't engaging. Truck is running on front wheel drive. They checked transfer case and differential fluids all is good with no signs of metal or broken parts inside. Truck drivers fine on dry and wet pavement no weird noises or vibrations. When I drove in snow the traction control light would come on as normal and when I'm getting stuck instead of the rear wheels causing the AWD Malfunction light comes on for about 5-10 seconds. And turns off. When car was on lift The drive shaft was able to be turned as if on neutral. Question is that normal? Maybe electronically disengages from transfer case? Anyway. A whole day at the service now they want to stay with the vehicle.
I have attached the light that comes on and off when the front wheels spin and no traction. Between 5 and 6 on the tach.
My Downhill Brake Control light came on yellow three times today, Each time I was able to reset it by shutting the engine off/on but after a few minutes, it kept coming back on. I am hoping that it was the result of the cold rainy weather today.
