Santa fe limited V6 will not go above 2nd gear. It will fall into failsafe mode. The motor will just rev up and not accelerate past 20-30mph. Have already done transmission flush and changed Input and Output speed sensors however the problem still exists. Where to go next before I send it off to repair shop. I don't remember the codes but it was described to me as no output from 4th gear .

I am experiencing a rattle when the car is out of gear. First heard it this morning. When I am in Neutral and I rev the car, as the revs drop back down to idle (700-800 rpm) i get a rattle from about 1000 rpm downover. Seems to disappear when at 800 rpm but not all the time. If I depress the clutch when sound is evident then it disappears.
My 2010 Santa Fe's transmission has been smooth since the TCM update except there's always a clicking sound when the speed first reaches 30 km/h. The sound only happens once during each trip. It seems like it only happens when the fluid is cold. Once it's warmed up, it's fine.
Yesterday all of sudden I feel something is dragging my car. I noticed RPM is over 2000 when the speed is only about 60 km/h. (not mile). And the ECHO light is not ON. So I shift to '+/-' mode and the display shows 4. I guess it means it's in 4th gear. I shift up to 5th gear and RPM drops right away. ECHO light comes back ON. So is this a symptom of 2010 Santa Fe transmission?
I also feel my brake pedal is very stiff when this happens. And the brake pedal has not much travel distance. If the brakes are dragging car down, can this cause the transmission stuck at low gear?
Finding a solution to my problem with Santa Fe, the gear gets stuck up on the 3rd gear. I have changed all the solenoid and it is still the same.

View 4 RepliesBought ours in Dec 2011 with about 36k miles from a Hyundai dealer. I like the select feature on the transmission. Any software change that would display the gear while in "D" mode. The suv seems a little top-heavy for aggressive driving so I don't. The wife likes the ride height. We pull a trailer periodically so we chose the v6 but only getting about 22.5 mpg daily maybe 26 on the interstate doing below 70. Happy with acceleration. Would be interested in possibly going diesel.

View 4 RepliesWhine that I am getting coming up from below the gear stick ,is certainly seems that it is a noisy bearing as noise stops when car does so I think it may be the bearing mounted in the rear of the casing/gearbox just in front of the rubber coupling but the dealer cant seem to find it in his parts list.

View 3 RepliesJust had a new set of tires and a front end alignment done on my 2008 Santa Fe with 86,000 miles. Now when it is shifting into 4th or 5th gear it feels like your hitting a patch of Ice. The Truck veers off to the right for a quick second. It just seems like you can feel it in the left wheel. Other than that the truck does not pull and drives straight.

On occasions in low gear as it goes to change gear it will seem to cut out, check engine light flashes on then off engine revs as I have foot on accelerator but then everything seems to restart and is fine. Seems to buck for that second or so and is when I have just started a journey. doesn't seem to do it at other times during a trip.

I checked the gear sticky by the mechanic , and we found that the lock on the gear sticky not exists. So I am worry if that normal and it's like safety option that not exists on my car? Also , is it something that may case damage to the transmission , or just Safety option .
View 8 RepliesMy 2008 Santa Fe 3.3 with 18,000 miles, developed an annoying surging when first put into gear after sitting overnight. I must keep my foot firmly on the brake as I back out of the driveway. If I press gently on the brake I can feel the car jerk or surge and show higher than normal rpms on tach. The jerkiness will go away entirely after a few miles and the rpms will return to normal at idle at a stoplight or stop sign. Is this something that would be covered under my factory warranty? Car was purchased Jan. 2009. I also notice that when the car starts in the morning it goes to a very fast idle. Is that normal? I would think that with the way the oil filter is mounted that the engine might have to wait for oil to return to the filter before it can get to the engine. What could be the cause of my problem? And is it likely my warranty should cover the repairs?
View 4 RepliesI have Hyundai Santa Fe, 2009 (automatic). when I start engine in the morning everything is fine except the reverse gear. the reverse gear moves to position easily but the car does not move. After 5 minutes of starting engine, the reverse gear works again.
View 1 RepliesBack to my 2007 FWD 2.7L Santa Fe. It has no Visors because a prior owner had them break and fall while driving, hitting them in the face. They dangled by the vanity light wires. They tore them out to get the visor out of their face before an accident happened. I priced new visors at $230 a pair plus shipping online. Ouch, a lot for another set of junk visors!
Recently the car stumbles and the ESC and engine light comes on. Had the codes checked then I and surfed the web and found it to likely be the TPS but the only one to fix it would be of course be the dealer. Diagnosis is $125. plus $70 part plus installation and then $105 to reprogram the TPS. I found the part online for $35. I will install it and then take it to the dealer to program it. So $140 instead of $500! I have yet to do that because I took the TB off and cleaned it. It stumbled a few more times and then ran fine for weeks. Its doing it again though once in a while, some days nothing happens others it happens 4 or 5 times. So I will have to get it done sooner than later. I have however found that it wont stumble and die if I put the car in neutral before I come to a stop. It just happens when its in gear, otherwise it runs fine. So until I take it in to replace the TPS I will use that technique.
I will follow up once I have installed the new TPS and had it programmed so you all will know if that took care of it. I have read some installed the TPS and in short time the computer adjusted to where it worked fine but fuel mileage was poor. Being I know how to drive it to keep it from dying at a stop now, I will wait until I get time and $100 to take it to the dealer for programming.
I am having with our 2010 Santa Fe GLS (2.4L). Whenever I am stopped and in gear, I have an excessive about of engine vibration IMHO, my wife thinks not, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I can feel it in the seat and people sitting in the passenger side and in the back can also feel it. If I bump into neutral or am accelerating, the vibration goes away. I have no issues with hesitation or loss of power and no other issues/check engine light, etc. This has been happening since we purchased the vehicle, and I mentioned it to the dealer and was given the response that the engine needed sufficient time to be broken in...... I now have 15,000 miles and it still is an issue.

Car starts up without any problems. Try to put car in Reverse and the shifter is very hard to move, if it moves at all. When I am able to get it into Reverse, I then try to put it in Drive and it does not "engage" the "D" and the car behaves like its in Neutral. Moving the shifter back to Park, Neutral, Drive is very difficult and sometimes it will not go into Park. The dash lights do not illuminate the selected P, R, N, D.
However, once the car is warmed up (no longer on C on the temperature gauge) I can with a little effort move the shifter freely (but more effort than it should take) and the car behaves normally. Gear shifts are smooth and in general it is operating normally.
The dash lights do illuminate the selected P, R, N, D. I've checked the Trans fluid level and it appears to be normal and was planning to change it this w-e but I'm no longer sure it will work. Even if it has never been changed.
Also note that I have recently changed a wheel/hub bearing due to a noise that sounds a lot like loud tires on a highway. The bearing change did not eliminate the noise and I assumed that I've changed the wrong one. The noise does not appear to be coming from the Trans, but I cant be 100% sure. The noise is speed related and occurs only after about 20KM/h 16MPH. Unsure if they are related..
We have a 2010 Santa Fe AWD LTD with about 140, 000km on it. It recently came back from front suspension work. The suspension is fine now, but we notice harder shifts in the transmission. Also, there seems to be a vibration just before shifting gears and when under load (like going up hill) seems to slip (like on ice) about once every second until the shift is made. Once the shift is made it drive smoothly until put under pressure again. Even stepping down a bit on the accelerator will cause this slipping feeling (or maybe its loss of power). Just had new plugs put in and a tuneup so it's not that. Could something from the suspension work cause these symptoms?
View 29 RepliesHaving issue with those plastic shutter flaps under the gear shift console? I think something might have been spilled in there because they have a tendency to be 'sticky' when moving the gear shift back and forth. Sometimes it gets bad enough that they get jammed up trying to move it forward into park. What I'd like to do is take the console cover off to get at them to either clean or replace them. Have part of the gear shift console off?
