I bought a used 2007 Santa Fe about 4 months ago. 45k miles. The TPMS work nice. I had a tire start getting low and it told me which one.
But every once in a while the other light, just the TPMS light comes on for a couple minutes and then goes off. The manual says if this light comes on than something with TPMS is malfunctioning. But it doesn't stay on constantly.
We just purchased a 2007 Santa Fe Limited with the 3.3 V6 and AWD. It was in remarkable shape with 137k on the clock and everything appears to be in working order. Our only complaint is the TPMS light. This light seems to have a mind of its own. All tires are inflated properly and it's not really that cold here on Long Island these past few weeks, but the TPMS light comes on every now and then.
The first time it came on, my wife was driving on a bridge that had construction going on. It went off by itself a few minutes later. The light came on again the next time she passed the same spot and again it went off on its own. I've been reading about RF interference with the sensors and I think this is what is happening on the bridge.
Saturday we passed a fire house and the light came on again. We parked across the street and came back after 2 hours to find the light still on and remained on for the ride home and still on the next day. We had the Bluetooth adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter the whole time as we were using Pandora thru the factory radio. As a goof just to see what would happen, I removed the adapter from the plug and the TPMS light went off a couple of minutes later. I've used the adapter before and it was fine. Could it be it was interfering with TPMS once the system was tripped by the EMI?
How common is this and is there any way to diagnosis this with a scan tool, etc?
I turned on the car today and about a couple minutes into my drive I noticed the airbag light was on. I pulled over, turned off the car, then turned it back on. The light came on with the rest of the warning lights, turned off when they all turned off, and then came back on a couple seconds later and stayed on. The car has just been sitting in my driveway. Only thing worth noting was that last night, while walking past the car, I noticed I had left one of the windows open. Also noticed my glovebox was open since I had gotten something out of it earlier in the day but forgot to close it. I turned the ignition half way to just use the battery to close the window (without turning the car on) and went to bed.
View 29 RepliesMy tpms light came on tonight after 15 minutes of freeway driving. I checked the pressure in all 4 tires, and they were all right about 36 lbs. The door jamb tire info says 33 lbs cold, so this seems about right to me. why the tpms light might have come on? Is the spare tire hooked up to the tpms system? My Passat is only 1 month old, so I'm surprised the light came on.
View 8 RepliesIt's the same every time. forty minutes into a drive and the TPMS light starts blinking. It blinks for about three minutes and then goes solid. After two minutes or so the light goes off completely. Every time I check, my tire pressure is perfect. I carry a good analog gauge with me and monitor pressure obsessively.
View 4 RepliesOn my 7.3 super cab, I changed the fuel filter last Friday and now on cold start the service engine soon light comes on for a couple minutes (approximately) on a cold start. No other issues. Tried scanning with my scan gauge 2 and no codes. (of coarse I think that thing is a joke for scanning). Not sure if this means anything, but last week before I changed the filter I thought I smelled diesel fuel on a couple different occasions. If I actually did it may not even be related.

The tow/haul light started blinking yesterday, only blinks for first couple of minutes of driving and then stops. Service engine light popped on today as well. Won't have access to a code reader until tomorrow, but looking for some preliminary info...
View 3 RepliesWe own a 2010 Honda CRV and at 25,000 miles the TPMS light started coming on every time the car was driven for thirty minutes on the highway. It has been to the dealership four times now and it is still not fixed. They first relearned the system and then they replaced the component that the sensors communicate with and the light continued to come on every time. They then replaced all four sensors as well as the radio. The light still came on again after thirty minutes into a long drive at high speed. The air conditioner panel was swapped with another and problem still not solved. They replaced two more brand new sensors on rear tires for new ones because the rear tires still showed faulty sensors.
For some reason they decided to take the tires off and replace with tires from another CRV they had on their lot which had alloy wheels and not steel and they test drove it and claimed the TPMS light did not come on. This was a waste of time because they just put the original tires back on anyway. Every time the car was taken in they claimed they fixed it and test drove it to make sure. After four visits to the dealership and the last time they had it for over a week, the car is not fixed and the TPMS light still comes on.

Lately in an intermittent fashion my TPMS indicator light will blink when I first start the car. It goes away within a minute of driving (might even go away if I just idle but I am always in a rush so I don't know...). At first I thought perhaps it was the cold weather but it happens even on warm days. I've checked all the pressures all around and they are good (not even borderline).
In the manual it says a malfunction is when the light blinks and then stays on. What would blinking then non persistent light mean? Communication issues?
Light came on, most likely due to colder weather. Jacked all tires up to 35psi. Now shows 2 tires low pressure. Why? What is the exact pressure to be at? Says in the car there at 29psi ....
View 8 RepliesI have Hyundai Santa Fe, 2009 (automatic). when I start engine in the morning everything is fine except the reverse gear. the reverse gear moves to position easily but the car does not move. After 5 minutes of starting engine, the reverse gear works again.
View 1 Replies07 That has 138K miles. The noise starts around 10 minutes of driving. Th engine sounds like a diesel engine. The noise has lasted 5 to 10 minutes. Then shut it off and it won't return til the next morning...Same thing. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO OCCUR on start-up. It has to run for about 10 minutes (moving) or so. Changed out the water pump. The noise is coming from near or behind the water pump.
My mechanic is stumped but he pretty much thinks it's coming from behind the water pump. That leads me to believe it's the timing chains/tensioner's etc. But the time it starts up is throwing me off. When it is cold I think I can hear a little clacking that shuts off quickly after oil pressure gets going but it's not really the same sound that were are hearing when moving and the crazy sound starts and it is LOUD!
We were thinking it was the timing belt tensioner however, it is not behaving like it should.
Our santa fe 2008 diesel randomly stalls. Most of the time the stall happens after at least 15mins of driving but I am not sure if its just a coincidence. It only happens when the car is stopped. When it happens, i put the car in park, turn off AC, then turn the car back on. It starts right up but is a bit rumbling like it will stall again. When i press the accelerator there is no response.
If I turn on the AC or turn the wheels, it dies. If i put it in drive or reverse it also dies. That happens around 3-5 times, then after that, everything is good again. Accelerator responds normally, car doesn't stall. Its driving me crazy! Whats worse is sometimes it doesn't occur for 1month! Then all of a sudden it stalls again. Bought the car 2nd hand and since january it died around 8-10 times.
I brought it to a reputable mechanic and they checked the fuel system. Replaced the fuel filter, fuel sensor. They even tried a different pump and sanction valve and it still didn't fix it. They kinda concluded that its not in the fuel system already, but they are at a loss. Its very hard to trigger since we don't know what really causes the stalling. All we know is that it only occurred when the car is stopped.
I have year 2011 santa fe, while mileage after 7000km, i have problem in air-cond, when i returned to my car within 3 minute to 5 minutes and start engine i can smell some source of chemical smell from air-cond for 3 second, why ? if i started engine after an hour then there is no smell, why ?
View 5 RepliesWhen first starting a 2012 Sante Fe GLS with standard AC each morning, the vents blow warm for up to 3-5 minutes and therafter are fine. Additional starts for the remainder of the day seem fine. We live in a hot climate, but our 2011 Sonata, which is parked in the same garage, does not have this problem. No unusual soundsor lack of air circulation, and after 5 minutes it spontaneously starts to blow cool air. Problem began 2 months after purchase.
View 4 RepliesI have a 92 2wd with a 5.7 and it keeps getting way to hot. I have changed the water pump, Thermostat (fail safe), and heater core and had the entire system flushed. and it is still getting really hot. If is is in park it does not get hot, but when i put it in gear it gets over the half way mark in just a couple minutes. I have noticed that it has an after market transmission cooler to me it looks to small for a my truck it is a 12in square and 3/4in thick. The radiator has the holes for the Transmission lines but they have been pluged off. Should I go back to a factory setup and flush the lines or upgrade the size of the cooler? and is there a way for me to flush the transmission lines myself?

View 4 RepliesI had a new wheel mounted by my local Mavis. They said they were unable to save the sensor valve from the old rim and sold me a new sensor. I received the car with the (S) low pressure light lit, Mavis saying that the car would reset after a few miles and if it didn't to return. Well, that light went out but the "TPMS" light then lit up and would not go out. I returned several days later and they checked with their tool and confirmed that the sensor they just installed was defective. They then replaced the sensor now telling me that the new sensor worked, they checked it and "activated" it. However, the TPMS light was still lit. They now said it "should reset". It has not.
View 2 Replies1999 Accord, 110k mi., stalls while driving or stopped a few times a week, then takes a couple of minutes to turn over. Mechanic replaced or cleaned main relay, fuel pump, and ignition module. Could sell it but recently rebuilt tranny and replaced timing belt. Mechanic is stumped.
View 7 RepliesNormally when cold the car would start and rest at about 1,200 maybe 1,300 for a couple minutes then go down to its normal idle point, recently when starting it when cold, it sounds and looks like it wants to do that but just goes straight to its normal idle point, its only started this a couple does ago and has me a little worried now. could there be anything wrong ?
View 12 RepliesI'm having a very strange problem with my 2011 Prius.
About two and a half hours ago, I drove home and parked my Prius for the night. About an hour after I parked, my Prius started beeping, three short beeps, every couple of munutes. It's now been doing this for over 90 minutes. Because I can hear it from the house, it is very, very, very annoying.
I have checked all of the doors, and also took the car out for a quick spin around the block, in hopes of getting the beeping to stop. No luck. It keeps beep-beep-beeping every few minutes.
It has been unusually cold here the past couple of days, in case that has anything to do with it. That being said, it was a good 10-15 degrees colder yesterday, yet the car wasn't having this problem. It only started this evening.
My question is, what in the world could be causing this beeping? Is there any way to stop it?
