On our 2007 turbo diesel auto santa fe the audio controls first and now the cruise has stopped. Had problems turning cruise on would have to press buttons 3 / 4 times to work now nothing.

View 4 RepliesI just recently started having trouble with the cruise control on my 2007 Chevy Malibu.
Last weekend, I went on an 800 mile trip (cruising most of the time) but stopped to have the tires rotated and balanced, and my oil changed halfway through (I was up for an oil change anyway). Got home late Monday, everything was fine. Then Thursday, my cruise control stopped working. The light on the steering wheel comes on to show that it is engaged, but I cannot set the speed.
The owners manual suggested it might be caused by low brake fluid. Checked that, saw it was a little low, maybe a centimeter, and filled it, but the cruise control still doesn't work. Thought maybe it was a fuse, but there wasn't a bad one.
I've seen some talk about it possibly linked to break or a transmission issue. For a few weeks, my Malibu has been making a lawnmower-ish sound when I drive 40 mph or faster. The problem persists whether its in manual or automatic. I didn't notice anything until I got my car back after loaning it to my parents for a weekend.
I bought the car used July 2010 from its first owner with about 37,000 miles. It's about 72,000 now.
The controls on my steering wheel stopped working. Last Saturday I brought car into dealer for an oil change and they did a recall on the ECM module. I wonder if this is a coincidence or if the programming messed up the wheel.
View 2 RepliesMy steering wheel controls on the lower half quit working last year , then the cruise control quit intermittently last month , then the air bag light starts appearing last week. Deciding this means a failed clock spring / spiral cable , I took apart my spiral cable housing, and found two obvious breaks in the electrical wiring . I first bought a salvage unit on Ebay, to find it arrived bound, didn't turn freely (and no returns from seller). I then bought one from the dealer and installed it last week and very happily have all symptoms fixed!
The replacement was easier than I expected, the steering wheel was not actually very tight, I doubt I needed the steering wheel puller I 'borrowed' from the parts store , could have just loosed the main nut, wiggled and tugged it loose. Just a note be sure to remove 12 volt power from the car, and mark the steering wheel center shaft to the steering wheel for reinstall .
As a rural mail carrier I deliver mail out of my prius with the window down, traveling about 5 hours a day on dusty ,sand roads in Kansas. The car interior gets dusty and this caused the failure of the spiral cable.
Pic's of the old failed unit, the new one comes with some lubricant, white perhaps lithium grease for the ribbons/ wheels, mine had dryed up patches of grease, some I cleaned off the ribbons before the pictures where taken. I'll check the new one in a year, may regrease , cleaning it out to try to prevent this from happening again. I did add some plastic under the airbag to improvise a dust shield for the new spiral cable. Car has 197k bought it with 106k , now has around 60 k from driving on the route.
Background (not sure if it's relevant): My car was in the body shop for 13 days. I got it back on 8/24. Damage was too the bottom right side, doors and adjacent body.
When i picked up the car and drove it, it seemed fine except that the MPG average was only 25mpg. Normally for me, it's around 38 to 40. It has gradually come back up. for this reason, i was frequently pressing the Info button on the steering wheel to bring up the screen that shows the current mpg average.
I have a 2003 Passat W8 with the Monsoon system and today I had a new problem pop up with it. On my way to work this morning the steering wheel volume and tuning controls stopped working. I also noticed that the Heads up display in the center of the dash is now blank...it used to show the CD number and track number. I can't seem to find any blown fuses in the fusebox.. I don't have the removal tools but I was going to check behind the radio to see if there might be another fuse there...
View 3 RepliesOwner of a brand new '13 Prius C Two. No "Entune" system, just the basic radio. I connect my iPhone 5 via Bluetooth; it works wonderfully. I can still use the handset controls to make phone calls; I have speed dials set up, and using my iPhone 5 as a phone in the car works great.
What stopped working this morning: skipping tracks using either the "Seek" button on the Prius radio itself as well as the controls on the steering wheel. Volume controls on the radio itself AND on the steering wheel work just fine for adjusting the volume.
The "Pause/Play" button on the Prius radio does work, but only after about :04 seconds or so. A song or podcast will play; the steering wheel controls for skipping tracks does not work; same with the Seek button on the radio itself; and pressing the pause/play button works, but not immediately after depressing it. Takes a few seconds.The only way to skip ahead/backward is on the iPhone itself.
For the almost 2 months I've owned the Prius C, this is the first time this has happened. Connecting audio via Bluetooth has "just worked" every single day. What's perplexing about this is that I've changed nothing on the iPhone overnight. The Seek button on the Prius radio worked fine yesterday, as did the steering wheel controls not even 24 hours ago.
The Seek button on the radio itself does work with the radio and a CD. Same with the steering wheel controls; as long as I'm not trying to control the iPhone, it works fine.
Discovered cruise control was dead. Then discovered radio controls and horn dead. Removed fuses for horn and radio and replaced. Result is dead radio + horn, controls, cruise. Is the wheel dead?

View 9 RepliesThe steering wheel controls, horn and cruise control recently died in our '08 wagon. The fact that they went out suddenly and simultaneously suggests that they might be tied to a fuse. I looked around the intarwebs via google and saw some references to a problem with HomeLink wiring in the sunvisor blowing "fuse 5" on older models, but I'm unsure if something like this is even valid for the B6.
View 9 RepliesThis may sound petty, but I would like to have the radio controls on the left side of the steering wheel of my 2012, instead of the cruise control. I guess the main question is how the wire harness is set up. Do the wiring can be re-routed to accommodate the switch?
Also, I want to smooth out the ride a tad so as to lessen the amount of griping from from the passenger seat. What is acceptable in lowering the tire pressure to allow a better ride without compromising tire wear? The factory specs are 65 psi. My truck is a 2012 fx4 Lariat with the 6.7
I use my touch screen a lot on my prius. When I do use my steering wheel controls for the radio it won't change from station settings 1-2-3. But it will change stations on station settings 1-2-3. Is it possible to use the steering wheel controls to go through all of the radio stations? This might allow me to stop using my touch screen controls so much.

View 1 RepliesYesterday the horn on my 2007 Passat has stopped working completely. I have read the owner's manual from cover to cover and the fuse for the horn is not listed anywhere in any of the fuse diagrams - either for the engine compartment cover, or on the fuses listed in the interior by the driver's side.
In addition the MFD steering wheel controls have also stopped working, and there is also no night time illumination on those buttons. I'm guessing as these are also located on the steering wheel that the two problems might be linked. I can live without the MFD controls, but the horn is a safety issue.
So I just got my 2014, upgraded from a 2007, and one change that is bugging me is the steering wheel controls for the radio. In the old truck clicking the scan up/down buttons scanned to the next radio station, in the new truck it scans through the preset radio stations. I really don't like that. Can it be changed or am I stuck with it?
View 2 RepliesI thought I'd finally move into the 21st century and jump on the mp3/bluetooth streaming wagon. Was always the traditional CD-album guy and after this, I may need to go back.
Problem is, I can't change track with the radio or steering wheel controls. Also, unlike the phone which automatically is available for use after the auto-connection happens via the car's controls, I have to manually launch the player on my phone then push play on it. Once done, music plays from the BT Audio system and when that track is complete, moves on automatically to the next one. The control of pausing, playing, skipping tracks does not work via the car (steering and audio controller) and is ONLY possible from the phone which defeats the purpose of a hands-free driving experience.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Android v4.3 and I've tried both Google Play Music and the native "Music" player on the device, with no luck. I have the standard Display Audio Controller (no-NAV).
I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey. I purchased the van used back in February with 34,000 miles on it. About a week after I bought it, the van started having odd electrical problems. My radio controls on the wheel would stop working, my rear wiper would start running even though it is in the off position. My power sliding doors would catch and close at the half way point on both sides at the same time. It is little odd ball stuff, but I am worried that the "brain" is not working properly. I have taken it to the dealer multiple times and of course they can't find the problem. They say to bring it back if it keeps happening, which I do, but every time they say it is fine and send me on my merry little way.
View 2 RepliesI have a 10' F150 and the radio has frozen. It will turn on but only displays the compass, Ext Temp, and time. All three of those items flash every two to three seconds. The controls in the steering wheel and dashboard no longer work (volume, seek, media, voice control...).
Things I've tried that haven't worked:
1. Turning the radio off and on
2. Restarting the truck
3. Pulling any fuses associated with the radio in the sub fuse box not sure of the technical name).
Last night I filled up my gas tank and got back in the car, started it up and the top section of the computer screen on the dash that displays the radio information/volume, etc was off. The steering wheel volume controls no longer work either. However, the cruise control on the other side works as well as the rest of the computer to the left of the speedometer. The radio also works just fine as well. What the problem is? Is it something that I could have somehow turned off and can turn right back on (hopefully)?
View 7 RepliesMy 07 Prius has developed a problem and i would like to get opinions about whether the problem could've been caused by the body work I had done a week before.
i want to know if i should take it back to the body shop and ask them to check it, or, if it's not likely to have been caused by the body work, then i'll just take it to the Toyota agency. If it wasn't the body shop, I am hoping to have it covered by the Prius Chat platinum warranty.
When presenting this to the body shop or the Toyota agency, i would like to be as informed as possible about what the possibilities are.
The problem is that some of the steering wheel controls are not working. Some of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel are not responding. The Info button does not work, and the climate related buttons on the bottom get no response. The Map button and all the bluetooth phone buttons do work.
At first, there was a delayed response when using the Info button. The next day, it stopped responding at all.
