Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Loud Thunk Then Couldn't Accelerate And Engine Light Came On

2007 Santa Fe 2.7 engine

My wife was driving along and she said she heard a loud 'thunk' and then she couldn't accelerate and the engine light came on. I don't know if she had to restart it or what but she finished out her day and made it home ok. The engine light went off. When she got home I put the scanner on it. I have a Actron 9580A. It came up with 3 codes.

From what I've read on here and what the codes tell me I guess I need a throttle position sensor and that a computer update is needed. Is the ECM update something that can be done without taking it in? If I do need someone to update it is the dealer the best place? Can I install the TPS then drive there? Or does it have to be done at the same time? I was just thinking I might save a few bucks doing it myself.

Prior to this the Santa Fe had no codes. I do need to replace the battery which tested bad last month. I think the battery will need to be replaced before doing the update.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Loud Gear Whine With Light Acceleration

'07 FWD Santa Fe exhibits pretty loud "'gear whine" with light acceleration.

Recent ATF change got loads of nasty gook and metallic sludge out of trans.. but no change in gear whine.

Dumb question, but do 2wd Santy's have a differential that I can drain and refill to quieten this whine down a little?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Loud Tapping / Knocking Noise From Engine

I am getting a loud knocking noise from the engine on my Santa Fe. The car is very low mileage of around 51K and has regular service and oil change.

Not sure what has caused this but there is a loud tapping/knocking noise coming from the engine. Have got it locally checked with the garage and Hyundai Workshop also but both have suggested that Oil levels are appropriate and they need to open engine to investigate more.

At a higher RPM the sound becomes more loud and recognizable.

I'm having an issues with my Santa Fe MY07 - Basically I was driving down the dual carriage way last week when suddenly the oil light came on and with the 500m it took me to stop a loud tapping noise was coming from the engine as it seized - The break down people came out to the car as they were inspecting it they informed me that the Sump cap was missing - the car is under warranty - however Hyundai as say that because the cannot find out why the sump cap had came off (and that in there mind they cannot give any reason why it should of) it is there for NOT a manufacturing issue and that they would not cover the repairs under warranty...

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2008 - Loud Rattle / Knocking Coming From Engine At Idle

Trying to find any information on what's happening with my 2008 2.2 Diesel Santa Fe ... Been driving fine until I pulled up at a set of traffic lights yesterday and started hearing a loud rattle- knocking coming from the engine at idle.

Put it in gear and drove and it goes away. When at idle if you rev the car it goes away.

Mechanic seems to think it could be clutch as it vibrates the gearbox, but sound seems to be more prominent around the engine, my thoughts were maybe a loose timing tensioner.

Clutch replacement is very expensive.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: Thunk Noise When Go To Accelerate

I have a 2014 RX, which is still under warrantee with 35k on the clock. I bought the SUV knowing i wanted to upgrade the look to the F-sport..... so, I did body wise and bought a set of wheels too.

On stock wheels 17s when accelerating from a stop, its smooth as butter. but upon throwing the new F-sport 19s on.. when i go to accelerate, it feels as if i have a bowling ball in my trunk.. its a "thud" noise. totally weird, i deemed it fixable by the dealer and took it in.

I did, they swapped out a NEW rear diff. for me thinking it was going to fix it. sure enough.... it didn't. I swapped lug nuts, studs, made sure it was hub-centric wheels, even went to verify if the wheels we reps or not.

So to go further in depth, i swapped out just the fronts, its a more faint thud, but with all 4 its more audible and feels worse. Here's where i am at, id put them on and dont mind the thud noise if i know its not hurting the car.

Bmw - X3 :: 2007 - Odd Stuttering When Accelerate / Service Engine Light Came On

I have experienced an odd behavior once today & once yesterday, while driving my 2007 BMW X3 3.0. Each time, I was RAPIDLY pulling onto a busy street, from a side street...I accelerated fairly aggressively from the intersection, moving across lanes of oncoming traffic and into the main traffic lanes on the far side. My SUV was driving without any issues up until that point. As i accelerated, the car began to stutter (shudder?), and the 'Service Engine Soon" light came on instantly. The car continued to drive, but struggled to maintain speed/acceleration. I pulled over to a full stop as soon as I could, and turned the engine off. After a couple of minutes, I turned the car back on, and the diagnostic light was no longer on, and the car resumed driving normally as before. Why this sudden acceleration is causing the Service Engine light to come on, and this odd driving behavior?

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Loud Thunk Noise When Shifting Out Of Park

I've got my 2013 sonata and have noticed over the past couple weeks that after the car has sat for a while and I shift out of park that it makes a thunk/shifting sound that's coming from right below the car. I think it's coming from the gear shaft but I'm not a car expert so I can't be sure, it's more prevalent when I shift into reverse. What it could be? The car is still completely under warranty so I'm fine with making it the dealer's problem.

Phaeton :: Window Regulator Noise (Loud Thunk) At Top Of Travel

I just picked the car up at the dealer, after having had the new window regulator installed.

They were just closing service and I didn't think to test the window before I left the lot, but on the way home I put the window down... nice and smooth and quiet.

Then I put it up and there was a loud thunk at the top of the travel. I tried to capture it in the attached video but it isn't nearly as "bass-y" as it is in person. Crappy mic on the phone I guess.

My other three windows have a very soft sound as they reach the top of the travel, nothing like this thunk. What it might indicate?

when i am stopped and turn my steering wheel a lot to either left or right, and i accelerate, there is a loud thumping hammering noise coming from the front of the car.

it also happens when i am turned a lot to the left or right, and i reverse. it sounds like a hammer hitting cement. it only happens when i turn almost all the way to the left or right...?

Toyota - Corolla :: 1991 - After Loud Thunk Front Wheel Locked Up?

The differential inside the trans. of my 91 Corolla 1.6L with 175K grenaded as I was cruising down the highway. Just heard a loud "thunk" and the front wheels locked up. The stock trans is a three speed A131L hooked up to the AE92. The engine still has a lot of life left in it so I will be putting a new transmission in it. This 6th generation Corolla was availabe with a four speed trans. Can I replace it with a four speed trans? I can get the shifter out of a recycling yard but don't know if anything else needs changed-out.

I'd like to get a re-manufactured trans as who knows how the previous owner took care of their transmission if I pulled one out of the bone yard. I'd hate to put in a trans only to have to re-do the job three months later. Are there any reputable transmission re-builders you would recommend? I'm in the Tampa area and am willing to go anywhere in the state for a known good trans.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2008 Limited - When Accelerate Car Seems To Pull To One Side

I'm noticing more and more on the highway when i accelerate that my car seems to pull to one side then when it shifts it snaps back. I'm not really sure if i'm even describing a transmission issue or a power steering issue. Basically, it just seems to pull and snap back fairly strongly, enough to cause a slight swerve as it shifts during acceleration. (No error codes or check engine lights)

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Check Engine Light On At 30k Miles

I have a 2009 Santa Fe, v6, and the check engine light and "ESC OFF" lights are on consistently.

I read the check engine light may be the gas cap so I replaced it but the light is still on. Took the car to Advanced Auto Parts and they said it was related to the cruise control.

I also read that the ESC OFF light may be due to alignment issues. I had an alignment done last Saturday but the light is still on. When they checked the check engine light they said it was related to the emissions. This was at a Firestone shop.

Any common cause for these lights to be on at 30,000 miles? I changed the transmission fluid also recently which the manual says to do at 30,000 miles.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Loud Thunk / Shudder And No Gear

I just broke my 2000 F350 7.3L 4X4. I never had any shift problems in the 3+ years I've had this truck. 3 days ago, I stood on it to enter the freeway, it dropped into passing gear, then a loud THUNK, a shudder, and no gears whatsoever. I coasted to a stop, checked to make sure the transfer case hadn't jumped to neutral, ran the tranny through all gears, and nothing, truck wouldn't move.

I took the tranny pan off this morning and its clean, just a little fuzzy on the magnet but nothing more than normal for 3 years and 200k miles without service. At this point, I'm thinking its the torque converter let go and won't pump fluid. Tranny Shops only want to sell you the whole assembly, not fix the problem.

At roughly 140,000 miles, my wife's '07 Santa Fe GLS has thrown a P0456 code. Does this code on a Santa Fe common?

It is "evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak)." The good news, I guess, is that it is 'very small.' However, being small may make it more difficult to detect.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Check Engine Light Lit Up - Code P1405

I've recently bought used Hyundai SantaFe 2007 and the engine check light lit up. I've bought EML327 OBD2 scanner, it showed P1405 meaning "EGR tempereature sensor incorrect". Some of my friends says it has something to do with CPF filter and EGR valve. They think, i should clean both CPF and EGR. Car service told me that DPF (not CPF) filter cleaning costs arround 350eu and one service told me to simply take it out and reprogram car computer. As far as EGR valve cleaning goes, no service wants to do this. I don't really know much about cars, so my main question is what would be my next step in trying to fix this error.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: ESC Off Light Turns On After Turning On The Engine And Staying Lit

I purchased a 2008 Santa Fe this summer.

Since then, the ESC OFF light turns on a couple of minutes after turning on the engine and stays on. This occurs all of the time.

Occasionally, the radio will freeze up and I can't change the channel, adjust the volume or turn it off. It will work again if I turn off the engine and restart.

Two days ago, the horn stopped working. Is it possible that these are related problems?

My 2010 Santa Fe is only 2 month old and has 2000km now the check engine light is on. Went to the dealer and found out the code is P200A -Intake manifold runner performance. And they just clear the code. What does this code mean?
