View 3 RepliesI have recently brought a new used car. In oz. I've noticed a small leak coming from a pipe under the car near the right side, I believe this is the power steering pipe. Any diagrams or links to see where each pipe goes as hard to follow. I have a picture but unable to upload here.
View 6 RepliesBought a new 2012 end of February. With 500 miles on it, my airbag light would not go off. Dealer said something had come unplugged. Ok, things happen. This Saturday, there was green antifreeze on the garage floor. Took to dealer. Said there's a crack in the thermostat housing. Ordered a new one. Came in this morning. Called and said there's a problem with the "elbow" in the housing too. They didn't want to fix just the housing alone, so ordered the "elbow". I know nothing about a thermastat housing. I have 10,000 miles my Santa Fe. The service dept. said the airbag light was a recall. I checked it out and it's for older Santa Fe's, not 2012. Does this sound unusual to you?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Santa Fe and the rear hatch wont open. When I pull on the handle it doesn't seam to click or engage with anything. I'm in a remote area and would like to try and fix this myself.
View 1 RepliesThe car had its first service last month but since then the ESP light has come on permanently on three separate occasions and has to be reset by turning the ignition off. Suppose I will have to book it back in -I read elsewhere it could be cause by wheel alignment or faulty connection somewhere?

Anyway, my problem was my oil light coming on at idle. Initially, it happened to my wife and she called me about it, and I attributed it to the cold weather and thick oil maybe not pumping properly when the vehicle was cold. After driving it myself, I realized this only seems to happen AFTER the vehicle has warmed up to operating temps. Took it to the dealership, they told me it was a bad oil pressure switch, put in a new one and off I went. (Note: oil was also changed at the dealership when they put in the new oil pressure switch)
Here I am two days later with the same problem. Just about to work this morning and sure enough, the oil light came on again while stopped at a stoplight.
Attached a picture below of my dash...the light flickers and comes on when the idle drops. I've never taken notice before, but what is the actual idle speed of the 3.5L? When the light is on, mine is about 500 rpm...
Also, for those of you with a keen eye, note the distance travelled (238 kms) on my current tank of fuel. Cold weather + all short trips within city limits does not make for a happy Santa Fe.
My daughter asked me to look at & listen to a horrible grinding noise coming from the upper right area of her Santa Fe's rear hatch. There was a plastic grinding noise coming from THIS:
It's the lock actuator for the rear hatch.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it makes that horrible plastic grinding noise.
I have now had the first major issue with my 2012 Santa Fe 3.5L AWD. It started out with an intermittent low oil pressure light coming on at idle. As I researched I found the Oil Pressure Switch thread:

And using that information I proceeded to replace the switch and while the switch had obviously failed unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. I tore everything down a second time to make sure the replacement switch hadn't failed and to make sure it wasn't leaking. Turns out that everything looked good yet the oil pressure light was still coming on after everything was warmed up.
Tonight I tore everything down for a third time to put an extension hose on the oil pressure port so I could hook up a mechanical pressure gauge in addition to the oil switch. While I am very pleased with how the extension hose worked out, however it appears that I do indeed have low oil pressure. Without letting it warm up completely I was dropping down below 15psi.
I guess at this point my best case scenario is a malfunctioning oil pump and worst case is worn bearings. With only 67k miles and fairly religious oil changes I am praying for the oil pump. My next step is to contact the dealer as I am still under the powertrain warranty, hopefully that goes well. I will try to keep this thread updated as I learn more. Up to this point I have really enjoyed the Santa Fe and have had minimal issues with it.
2013 SFS 2.0T.... Rear hatch locks/unlocks good. When opening hatch illumination light will NOT turn on. Yet I can manually turn it on (switch by the light itself). It will stay on forever if in that "mode".
Front passenger/driver light unit was replaced under warranty. Just recently noticed it that rear hatch light issue...
WHen i open the back hatch, the light does not come on when the switch is on door but if i flip it to on it works fine...
View 2 RepliesThe CEL is on for a evap leak. I replaced both packing O-rings for the fuel pump, which I should have done when I replaced the fuel level senders. I have driven the car for a week with no resolution. I did try a new gas cap before I replaced the O-rings, but it didn't resolve the problem. I realize that I may have more than 1 issue, so I'll put the new gas cap on shortly. Just wondering if there's anything else I should check before I put the seats back. Are there any other common areas to fail that I need to check?

View 9 RepliesI have noticed my 2007 SF V6's coolant is reducing at reservoir. I added premix coolant about 1 liter a month ago. Today I saw my driveway was wet, and this hose end was leaking.
I turned the spring clamp about 90 degree. but it's still dropping like 1 drop per 1 minute or so. Is this common issue? and how can I fix this?
Should I change the black hose? or change the same new spring clamp or change the spring clamp to a wider screw clamp?
Also, when detach the hose end, some amount of coolant will come out then, just adding premix coolant into reservoir for the max level is good enough? or do I have to bleed radiator airs?
Notice a leak at the bottom of the Line coming out of the reservoir and turning under at the bottom of the radiator... Not sure at this point whether this is the suction return or supply , probably return, from the looks of the spring clamps used.
It appears that some steel line is used to make a 2 ft or so loop under the radiator before it goes back to the rack.... Cooling??
This line app. 3/8 " in diamater is supported by some rubber isolators, and no doubt there is some rust which has formed in there where the line passes through the rubber, small pinhole maybe??
So my oil doesn't leak when it off it will only leak when it's at normal driving temperate it is coming from the cast piece that my oil pan (the plastic piece) is on... Where it connects to the actual motor... Any clue what it would be? BTW it is a 2011 Santa Fe
View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 Santa Fe Limited with 82000 miles. I have replaced four (4) batteries since it was purchased, new, in March, 2010. I have repeatedly taken it to the Hyundai dealerships in Las Vegas, Nevada and Centennial, Colorado, for an oil leak on the valve cover over the alternator. At no time has the service technicians at the dealerships ever told me there was problem. Last Thursday, the latest new battery, installed that same day, failed. I had my independent garage technician assess the multiple battery failures, with the associated battery display light illumination, related to the location of the continual oil leak. He stated that the cause of the battery failures was from the oil damaging the alternator. I contacted Hyundai Customer Service, today, and was told that there have no reported problems from oil leakage onto the alternator, with subsequent damage to it, and/or the battery.
View 3 RepliesJust took in my 2011 Santa Fe Limited for its 22,500 mile service (oil change). I was informed that it had an "oil leak under the front cover," and it needs to be fixed before it ruins the alternator. I will have to drop it off again for a whole day to have it fixed under warranty. The service rep also told me that this was not uncommon.
View 10 RepliesI have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with approximately 105,000 miles. I had my left inner tire rod replaced a couple days ago and today I notice a leak under the vehicle by the boot. There was not a leak previously. I had the tire rod replaced because it was loose and notice by the mechanic who was doing the front wheel alignment. Could the mechanic have damaged something that caused the leak? What could cause this leak? The vehicle seems to be steering just fine.
View 2 RepliesI was teaching my kid how to drive in a parking lot and noticed white smoke coming from the front when parked. There seems to be a leak on the top side of the radiator, where the plastic top connects to the aluminum body. I also noticed that radiator fan does not come up at all. Outside temp was around 40F but I would think it should have come on when driving at 5-15 mph in a parking lot for 1+ hours. Temp gauge is on the left side of the middle indicator so technically the engine is not overheated, unless the temp probe is bad. What's the best way to troubleshoot this? I have a 2005 Santa Fe 3.5L GLS FWD.

I have a leak coming down the drivers side rear shock absorber (the bit that bolts onto the swing arm) this has obviously resulted the the rear of the car riding low, but, is there something I can take apart and replace or do you have to replace the whole thing.
it seems likely that it could just be a seal broken somewhere.
