I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and wonder if the instrument panel lights only come on when the headlights are on? It sure is annoying not to have the instrument panel lit up.
View 3 RepliesI have problems with my SF 2002. When i turn on my headlights, the instruments panel (odometer, shifts indicator and others) has no lights. Turning off them, the shift indicator lights again.
I have notice that when days ago, i have changed my radio the problem began. Maybe the problem is related with this.
Whenever I step on the brakes the lights on the instrument panel go out. When I take my foot off the brake they come back on. When I use the right blinker they blink. They do not blink when I use the left. What is this?
View 4 RepliesI've had a base model 07 Santa Fe for 4 yrs and I know darned well that the when the car is running, even with headlights off (as in daytime), that the gauges in the instrument panel light up, and the brightness can be controlled by rolling the dimmer switch (reostat) up or down. Now that it isn't working, after dealer replaced something nearby on a recall, they're trying to tell me that the gauges only light up when the parking or headlights are turned on.
View 7 RepliesThe instrument panel lights (dash lights for the gauges, temperature control settings, etc) have been intermittently going out on 2011 Santa Fe V6 Ltd, instead of lighting up when the headlights are on. We can see still the mileage display, the navigation, the clock and the climate control screens, however. Those light just fine, its just the instrument panel that is the problem.
Tonight, we noticed that the tail lights were also out. We think they have been intermittently going with the dash lights at the same time. The brake lights are working fine though.
The problem with the instrumental panel lights started a few weeks ago (we bought the SUV brand new in Jan 2011). When we took the vehicle to have the problem fixed, everything was working fine and they could not replicate the problem or figure out what was causing it. This evening the lights went out again. After we parked the SUV and had dinner, I went back out to it and the lights were working again.
What is causing the problem and how to fix it? Seems like this should be an issue covered by the warranty, but with the problem being intermittent, we can't be sure it will show up when we take the SUV in to the dealer.
Last night, while my wife was driving, the battery light on her instrument panel started flashing. This morning the battery light came back on when she started the car. As she was driving on the highway, the ABS light, the stability light, and couple other lights came on, plus her she was losing power to her wheels. She said it then felt like the car was towing a heavy object and that there was no power going to the wheels or any other part of the car. She was able to drive it a few miles to a parking lot, where it died.
When she tried to restart it, she heard a clicking sound, but had no power and the engine was not turning over. She could not remote lock the doors because the all power was gone.
The tow truck driver tested the car and said the battery is fine, but that the alternator was dead. She had it towed to the dealer, who also says it is the alternator that is the problem.
This all occurred after we had a previous, and resolved issue, to the instrument panel (including the light around the cigarette lighter) and the taillights going out intermittently. The dealer disconnected the electrical connection to the towing package and the lights have stayed on since.
Seems odd to have an alternator go on a two-year old vehicle (we bought it new in Jan 2011). Could it actually be the alternator or something else?
2006 Chrysler 300 Limited. Very strange issue here. If the ignition key is turned on, and the headlight switch in ANY position (auto, off, parking, or on) the headlights and fog lights turn off and on on their own! No rhyme or reason to it. At first if the headlight switch was in the "auto" position, it wouldn't give me a problem. Now I can't shut the headlights off, the foglights off, or "flick" the high beams on by pulling the "multi-function" switch back. Long story short, i think the actual headlight switch might be faulty, but the multi-function switch not making the headlights do anything is what is making me second guess this issue. Where else I should look? Fuses are all fine.
View 15 Replies1999 Buick Regal. Instrument panel lights will not come on when we turn on the headlights. The dimmer knob is turned correctly. I've checked all the appropriate fuses (I think). The radio display is also affected. The time display almost completely dims out. This even happens when the headlights come on automatically at dusk.

And with the HVAC, when I turn the HVAC to max a/c (even though is won't be until spring or summer) I have problems with the a/c wanting to turn off at times almost like automatic climate control, but it isn't that.
2007 F-250 One light in the tach is out, my question is how do I get to it to replace it? Are these instruments lit with conventional bulbs or solid state circuitry?

I was at a drive thru when my instrument cluster started to go nuts.. all of the lights came on then started flashing.. the RPM gauge was bumping around too.. for a couple seconds.. then it went away.. the next day I was on the way home and it started to do the same thing as the motor began to lose power while climbing a hill then the transmission couldn't figure out which gear it wanted to be in then I could press the gas all the way but nothing would happen.. the battery was completely dead. so I replaced the battery an about a week later it did the same thing. I had the alternator checked out but it was fine..
View 7 RepliesHad a buzzing on my dual control and temp panel. Buzzing finally stopped, and now I have no control over temp on passenger side. It blow cool air regardless of the temp I put or taking it off of dual. Doesn't matter, it just blows cool air. I can have it set off dual at a high temp, driver side will be hot, passenger side will be cool. What broke?(blend door?)
View 3 Replies2007 Santa Fe Limited. The matter is that, fuel sensor on instrument cluster doesn't work and MIL is on. I replaced both fuel sensors and it didn't work. May be instrument cluster is bad? Or should I replace ECU? I don't know what to do.
View 3 RepliesSo my vehicle is 6 years old and the front edge of the roof panel is severely rusting from corner to corner. Warranty originally tried to pass it off as stone chips (lol) before I got an independent surveyor to inspect. He said there's no doubt it's a manufacturing fault and is rotting from the inside out. I went back to Hyundai with this appraisal letter to which they replied 'your anti perforation warranty only covers from the windows down so the roof isn't covered.

A couple of years ago, I noticed whenever I changed my climate controls to defrost or bi-level, there was a 'gurgling' noise coming from behind the panel as the mechanism switched. Several months ago, the gurgling stopped as did the ability for me to change where the fans vents. Right now it is stuck on bi-level. something similar happened in a work truck the other day and I easily traced it to a small tube that had detached from a plug. I am wondering if the climate controls in the Santa Fe are also vacuum controlled and, if so, where might I find this tube?

I have followed owners manual for my '08 Sante Fe Ltd on removing the two screws on top and retaining nut on back of light and unplugging the wire harness but the---- thing doesn't want to slide out. Is there a clip or screw that I am overlooking? I have watched the video on the Sonata. It feels tight on the tapered side(turn signal). I afraid of muscling it too much because there is so much plastic.

When it is raining outside with the air conditioning turned on and then I turn the headlights on, the A/C goes off. there are no lights on the console and the fans stop blowing. If I turn the headlights off again the A/C works again.
I have a 77 Celica GT Liftback. The instrument panel bulbs are very dim, even with the dimmer turned all the way up. I replaced the clock bulb to see if it made a difference but it didn't.
