My heater works when engine on tickover then stops working after a mile or so driving. I have taken heater hoses off and it does not seem blocked and have replaced the engine thermostat. Now what can I do??
View 8 RepliesI have a huge problem!!! While I'm driving every week my 07 Santa Fe just "kicks out". First my touch screen system cuts off then the car will stop running. This morning every time I hit the brakes my check engine light would pop on then my touch screen and lights would "restart". As I was pulling into my neighborhood it completely cut out of me. Nothing worked, not even the power door locks. And I couldn't put it in park. This has never happened. Usually it just kicks out, restarts and then I can go. This has got to stop!!
In the past when this has happened I was able to pop the hood and wiggle the wire on the battery. Then my lights and everything turn back on and I can continue to go where I was going. Battery and connectors were replaced in June 2012
My odometer often stops displaying when driving. I suspect water in connections. Where is the sender unit physically located?
View 1 RepliesToday, while driving on the highway, my heater just quit working. My car is equipped with the automatic climate controls and so I switched it to manual mode to see if the heat would come back. The heat does not seem to be mixing at all with the air.
One weird thing is that if I set the temperature to 90 degrees then the A/C mode will turn off and blow pure hot air. However, if I go to 89 degrees then the heat will stop and the A/C will turn on again. Turning off the A/C manually does not bring the heat back.
What could be wrong? I might just try unplugging and reconnecting the controls since I was messing with the radio a couple of days ago.
I have a 09 santa fe and it just started doing this. when we start it and let it warm up it will get the normal temp and will blow hot air but when we start to drive the thermostat goes back down to cold and it will blow cold air. I have had a problem similar to this before and taken it back to the dealership and they replace the same thing over and over. but this time its not fixing itself and it is staying like this. usually it will fix itself.

I've noticed that as the weather has gotten cooler my heater just doesn't heat up at all under normal driving conditions. I can see the actuators moving at the back of the unit and the car seems to get up to temperature fine.
When climate control is set to auto the A/C seems to come on intermittently which I find quite odd even when I have the temperature up quite high. If I leave the car in park and rev the engine heat will start to come through the vents, but this doesn't really represent normal driving conditions.
I have noticed small patches up water under the car when it's parked, so assumed there was a water leak, but when I top up the water it quickly overflows. So I'm thinking it might be an airlock maybe?
I'm really stuck, just want to see if there is anything I can rule out before I drop it into a garage to see if they can get to the bottom of it.
Our Nissan Sentra 2004 heater occasionally stops working, usually when its very cold of course. Usually, the heater starts working fairly quickly but then starts blowing cold air. If you move the vent dial to different positions something changes and the heat starts working again. A mechanic says that something in the heating vents has probably come lose and to find it quite abit of the engine parts will need to be removed resulting in a big bill.

When I start the engine, blower starts for a moment and then stops .This problem happened first time before 2 months and suddenly blower worked fine till today.Now i have the same problem.I tried to replace the blower motor but nothing changed.

View 2 RepliesThis is the 4th time this has happened.While in reverse it will suddenly lock up as if I hit a large object,and the anti skid light will come on and also the all wheel drive light will come on.I will then shut off the engine and start the vehicle were the lights on dash will reset and go off.
View 7 RepliesMy 2010 Santa Fe has had a AC problem since one week of ownership - when it is raining and I drive the car more than 10-15 mins - the AC stops blowing cool air. My dealer has seen the problem first hand - but has no solution for it. Last fall they replaced a faulty accuator - wasn't able to test it our since was fall... but doing it again since the warm weather has started.
View 12 RepliesAbout a year ago I was driving along and ran into some traffic. A few minutes later I noticed the AC stopped working, (it was about 85F out), and then I noticed that the engine temp was getting much warmer. Had never seen this before. The car had about 70k miles on it.
Turned on the heater and was able to get the engine temp down. Immediately took it to my local mechanic, who checked that the compressor was running, but was unwilling to tackle this diagnosis and recommended I take it to the dealer.
Took it to the dealer the next day and they diagnosed a bad compressor which they replaced for $1200. However the very next day after I picked it up the very same thing happened. Engine overheating and the AC turns off.
Pretty disappointed in this - I expected the dealer to be able to fix this, especially for $1200. So I left it with them for a week, and still they were not able to diagnose or duplicate the problem. Asked me to come in when it is happening, but since they are about 30 minutes away and it only happens once in a while I gave up on that.
However, ever since then it will occasionally have the same issue. I can usually resolve it by parking for a while, or by turning on the heater for a while. The AC does work most of the time, but of course this problem usually occurs only on very hot days.
While driving my 2009 Camry the abs light and break light pop on and the speedometer stops working as well as the tacomitor and the odomitor stops ticking off miles as well, also the ac fan will run but the compressor stops.
View 2 RepliesMy 2010 Camry (4 cyl, auto) die again and again while I am driving. It is a big safety issue and I am wondering about the Toyota Quality. Why Toyota haven't fixed this serious issue. The brake stops working and the steering become really hard to move. So, there are very good chances of serious accident.
I went to a Toyota dealership and they replaced the battery and its cable and reset the check engine and skid control lights and told me to drive a while to see whether problem persists. Later same day both lights came again and car started doing the same. On my way back I went to Auto Zone to check the codes (because Toyota dealer closed at 4:00 on Sat) and I got the codes P0101 and P0171.
I will take it to the Toyota dealership again but I am seriously thinking to change this unreliable car with 73K miles.
My A/C quits working when in stop and go traffic or at a long light. Comes back on when I get going again after a minute or 2. One shop says thermistor another says thermostat is faulty causing engine to overheat. Not sure who to believe. Car gauge never shows engine to be overheating. 2007 Hyundai Tiburon
View 12 RepliesLast week, temps. dropped so tried heat on `02 GLX few months out of warranty. took to dealer (concerned with locals and the VW climate control), dealer said clogged heater core, they asked if it had overheated (no), $1500
VW kicked in $500. nice weather when I picked it up, next door cold, turned on heat, but there was none. took it back to dealer, they said it was an air bubble and said they "bled" the system, and viola, had heat in 1/2 hour. Worked fine for couple of hours. Couple of hours later, again no heat.
Any clue? Did the dealer know what they're doing? Did I get ripped? Can others work on the VW climate control or is it related to the actual mechanics of the heater?
My 2009 Santa Fe GLS a/c, heater, etc. blower has stopped blowing air. I have checked the fuses, did the push test on the air adjustment button but nothing has worked. Sometimes it's like I can feel a VERY SMALL amount of air blowing out the vents.
View 3 RepliesI have a SF 2009 Limited. Since I bought it 2 years ago, I noticed the heater blows luke warm air. Not hot. It takes 20min for the cabin to reach 22degC when it's only 0 outside.
It was like that when brand new.
It has the auto temp control, so it might be playing tricks on me but I don't think so.
I am tempted to find the pipe feeding the heater radiator and insulate the pipes. Maybe the heater only gets warm liquid.
What else can I do?
Cannot figure out how to get the heated air to flow through the back via the rear vents. All I get is outside air. I cannot find anything about it in the manual. The dealer has no clue but is trying to find something on it. New 2009 Santa Fe Limited.
