Before you all say it, yes I have made sure that the "door" button has been pushed. The front done light will work when I turn on the individual map lights. However when I open the front doors they no longer automatically come on. I am going to bring it to the dealer ( I am assuming it is a faulty "door" switch) just wanted to see what you all thought before I bring it to them.

I have a 2012 Santa Fe and the front map light fixture was where my issue started. I believe from what I read that the diode had gone bad because the map lights would work if the light button was pressed, but not if the door button was pressed. At that point, the only issue I had was the light now working when the door opened. So, I ordered a replacement part and tried to install it today. It was harder to get the old one out than last time, but it came out no worse for wear and I unplugged the old map light fixture. I plugged in the new one and it did not work at all. I checked the wire and it looked fine, the prongs and they were fine and tried it again... nothing.
Now, the back seat dome light and trunk dome light don't work either. (with the new map light plugged in or not) Old one back in and still nothing. Checked the manual for the fuse that is supposed to control those lights and it is fine. I got frustrated because it made no sense and gave up for the night. (no light is even plugged in where the map light goes for now) I come in the house and now every hour or two (when I lock the car) the alarm sounds for no reason. The alarm button won't shut it off either, I have to hit unlock and it stops. (3 times in the last 5 hours now) So, I have decided to leave it unlocked for now. So far, so good. BUT, I need to lock my car when I am out without the alarm sounding and I need my dome lights working. Everything else with / in the car seems to be normal.
I have a 2000 Excursion 7.3 and having problems right now because my Door Chime and Dome light dont work when the doors are open. But for some odd reason, when the rear door is open, the dome lights work. The 4 doors doesnt work yet the rear door does
The reason i want this is because i want to install an alarm and the door signal is needed and it is suppose to be tapped at the dome/chime so when the door is opened, the alarm will sound so it is not just relying on the Shock sensor.
My Dome lights don't work when you open the door. I can manually turn them on though. Also door ajar light is on. Are these issues caused by the door latch switch? Also have no fog lights I replaced the switch and bulbs. I have a 2003 F250.....
View 2 RepliesWe just bought a 2003 Windstar SE, the door ajar indicator is on on the dash all the time but the courtesy/dome lights don't come on with any of the doors open. The lights will come on manually with the headlight switch? I am pretty sure these are controlled by the GEM module.
View 11 RepliesWe are camping and I'd like to leave dogs in car with back doors open but I don't see a way to turn off the interior lights. There must be a way, right? In my Expedition we could turn the little button next to the headlights switch to adjust brightness in the controls and speedometer and turn all the way til it clicks for off but doesn't work here.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2005 Excursion V10 4WD Eddie Bauer edition. Within the past month I have noticed that the interior dome lights and running board lights don't always come on when I open the doors. The dimmer switch is set to the highest level without being turned on and all of the dashboard lights work. I turn the dimmer switch on and sometimes the interior lights work and sometimes they don't. The door switch seems to be in good shape as well. If I turn the dome lights on individually they work so I know that there is not a problem with the bulbs. Where I can look for the problem?

Tried my other remote fob just in case, just to make sure it wasn't a fob issue. Little red light on door is flashing. Not sure what to do from here. How do I get my doors open?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Lariat (with Sunroof) that the Front Interior Dome Lights are not working in. I mention the Sunroof because there is a switch to operate the sunroof in the same panel as the front dome lights. The Sunroof switch works just fine though.
However, the back dome light does work. I would've thought these were on the same line but my thinking is probably wrong. So far I've pulled the front panel where the dome lights are located and checked the bulbs. The filaments are not broken at all and the bulbs seem to be good. I then went hunting for the Fuse box and looked through the user manual to see which fuse corresponds to those front lights. However, I've been unable to determine which fuse it is.
So I guess the questions I have are:
1.) Why the front dome lights would NOT be working and the rear dome lights are? Are these not on the same line?
2.) Which fuse corresponds to the front dome lights?
3.) What relay corresponds to the front dome lights?
4.) Do I need to disconnect the battery before messing with any of these fuses or relays?
Troubleshooting steps at this point?
I have a weird situation with my sf. I start the car normally put in gear then back to park and have radio on and when shutting the car off and removing the key from the ignition. Normally everything goes out and doors unlock, But the radio, clock and dome light stayed on even with the door opened for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then it shuts off completely and unlocks the doors as usual. Did unplug the battery for 1 minute to see if the BCM could be reset and restarted with no avail it keeps acting up. The only thing that I did yesterday was to install the front left rail cover which required some fiddling with the headliner and its dome and vanity lights.
View 5 RepliesWife's Tig had an issue with its rear doors. Dome lights would activate only with front doors. If you opened the rear doors only, no dome lights.
VW dealer says they found the issue, I disabled the DRLs via VCDS and now he states that disables the rear door dome lights. He even went so far to say that I had installed an "aftermarket" part in order to disable the DRLs.
Any example for disabled their DRLs and lost the rear door dome lights?
Wife's picking up the Tig now. I'm sure the DRLs are now working. I'll VAG it again to remove the DRLs and see if I lose the rear door dome lights.
I've just got a new to me 2007 Santa Fe and it's full of electrical gremlins. Today's problem is the idiot light indicating the tailgate is open is always on and the light in the hatch and the alarm randomly come on as well... the neighbours are not impressed. I can't find any pin switch on the hatch and where the switch is located. Is it a magnetic sensor? perhaps on the lock mechanism?
There is so little technical info available for these vehicles. I've always had VWs and the tech support online is insane. Hope i can resolve these problems as it seems like a good vehicle.
My dome light stays on and green when my doors are closed and the door button is pressed. They light up bright white and normal in use but don't completely turned off unless I unpress the door button...
View 3 RepliesMy buddies 01 Ex will shut off the dome light after a short time with any or all the doors open. My 02 Ex will never shut the dome light out unless all doors are closed.
I guess I'm headed for the override switch but wanted to confirm before if I did that there wasn't an issue with something other component.
I was getting something from the Santa Fe last night and noticed that the interior lights didn't come on when I opened the door. Further investigation found that they don't illuminate with any of the four doors (despite the door ajar light coming on in the dash), but the lights do come on when set to "ON", so the bulbs and fuse(s) are fine. The model year is 2001.

At times before this, the front was intermittent Where it would work but then all of a sudden now both won't work at all..
I had a problem with my door ajar light always being on, I was able to find out that it was in the sensor for the back glass and was able to fix it. But now when I cut the explorer off and remove the keys the dome light comes on instantly even if no doors are opened and the lock/unlock button on the driver door won't work. However if I manually turn off the dome light my lock/unlock button starts working properly. Also if I do not manually turn the light of with the roll switch the light will stay on until the computer kills the power to it about 10 mins later. What could cause this??

I am having strange electrical problems. This happens on an unpredictable basis but is getting more frequent (ie. use to be once every couple days and now is happening several times during my 24 mile drive to or from work).
After starting, the car door locks may automatically lock; however, a few seconds later they may lock again, and again.... This may happen 5-10 times in a row then it stops for 5 minutes or 2 days.
This week a new symptom showed up. The dome light came on while driving. It stayed on for a few seconds then went off. 5 seconds later the doors locked. This may or may not repeat. The light may stay on for 5 or 30 seconds always followed by the doors locking. It may repeat once or sever times in a row. I also noticed if I stepped on the brakes it turned off the dome light and then the doors locked but then it would likely start again. Turning on the headlights did not seem to have any effect.
Front wipers stopped working while driving. trying to trouble shoot problem. wondering what fuses to check?
