Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: CEL Code P0441 - Fuel Gauge Inconsistent?
Mar 4, 2015
2009 Santa Fe GLS 2.7L ~63,000 miles .... Check engine light came on, scanner gave code P0441, but check engine light shut off later the same day. Since then the fuel gauge has been moving around inconsistently. Took it in to mechanic, he said he replaced a leaking hose. Next day, fuel gauge is still a moving target.

Engine light came on a week ago, finally made it in to get the code pulled yesterday : P0441
From reading on this site, thinking its a faulty purge valve.
I have found pics of its location on an 04, but cant seem to find it on my 08 2.7L.

Have 2 problems that are giving me major problems.....especially with 100 degree heat in Dallas.
1. Ac stopped blowing cold last night out of blue. Still blows just not cold. Replaced bad fuse and drove for 5 minutes. Blew again. Checked out the control/ circuit board but looks ok. Really cant afford dealer.
2. Check engine light problem for months. Gas gauge wasn't working. Replaced fuel sending units and it fixed that but still light. Code says p441. Dealer said need solenoid valve. Replaced both the solenoid valve and the purge control valve. Still check engine light.

Just received a P0441 CEL (Evap Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow). I have a 2.7l engine, 2WD. I've read other forums and it seems it's most likely the purge valve or charcoal canister.

2007 2.7 GLS ... I like many have encountered the P0441 code and my Santa Fe stalls after fueling and requires constant revving for a bit to stay going. Previous threads seem to point to the Purge Control Valve.

I've had the check engine light come on and was told it was probably from topping up too much and that it would go off on it's own... I should say I have no issues with idle or rough starts.
I had it scanned at Auto Zone. The print out shows: "EVAP emission system incorrect purge flow probable cause
1) Faulty purge control solenoid
2) Faulty vent solenoid
3) Blocked vapor canister
Previous posts suggest if it were a blocked vapor canister I'd have trouble completely filling the tank so I am hoping it's one of the others. Almost everything I see suggests the purge control and that looks like an easy fix. My concerns are a) if it is the vent solenoid - how hard is that to get at and b) what is the part number as I can't find it listed anywhere? I want to have both on hand before I start trying to fix this. Lastly if it is the vent solenoid should I just give up and see a dealer??

My GF's 07 Santa Fe AWD has the common (from what I've read) bad sensors in the gas tank for the fuel gauge. She needs an Echeck SOON and it won't pass with a CEL. can the codes be cleared and a fuse or something pulled to temp defeat the CEL until a proper repair can be done when we have time to do it? I don't drive it so I don't know how long before it comes back on after clearing it. It needs a drive cycle on it to get it to pass E check to so I can't clear the code and drive straight to the check center (I dont' think).

I have a 2007 Santa Fe Limited with 112000 miles on it, and its having some issues with the fuel gauge. It doesn't tell me the accurate gas level in tank.. it's either half-full or on empty. The check engine light is also on. What could be the problem? Is it an expensive fix?

I have an 08 Hyundai Santa Fe. Check engine light comes on, fuel gauge goes from empty to full, to half, to 1/4, just all over the place. Even ran out of gas a few times on the side of the road not knowing how much fuel I have.
What exactly causes this problem? I've heard "fuel sender" I've heard "fuel pressure sensor" etc. All are different parts. Need to get this repaired asap.

I have a 2007 Sante Fe with the 3.3 engine. Having a problem with the Fuel gauge not reading correctly and a check engine light. The engine code indicated that the problem was with the sending unit in the tank on the "A" side (behind the driver). I checked with Hyundai and with a tech line service and they indicated that it was a common problem and I needed to replace both the "A" & "B" units to correct the problem. I did that and cleared the codes and it set another code indicating that the "B" unit was the source of the code. I pulled the "B" unit again and checked the wiring and the problem still was there. I switched out the units on the "B" side again with the old unit and the problem is still there.

2008 hyundai santa fe. 106,000
Bought the car six months ago.Found out 2 weeks later we couldn't put gas in it. Dealership refused to fix it because we bought as is. So we managed to find one gas station in a 20 Mile radius that we could put gas in it.It takes around 10 minutes to put half a tank in. Shortly after that the gas gauge started to fluctuate from full to empty. And the check engine finally came on. Had the the check engine light checked.Fuel level sensor A was faulty. Took it to a local Goodyear in stead of the dealer ship. The sensors were 119.00 a piece and the labor was 145.00 to replace both. Had both replaced .Fuel gauge is working correctly now. But still having issue putting gas in car.

On my 2002 Santa Fe, the gas gauge moves slowly after filling up. It takes about a minute or two for the gauge to reach full. I'm not sure if this is normal or not but the more troubleshooting I do I'm starting to think it is. Need to confirm this?
Also, the low fuel indicator never comes on. I disconnected the connector from the fuel pump and jumpered pin 1 to pin 5 and the light did come on (after turning the key on). I replaced the sending unit (driver side only) but the light still doesn't come on. The only other thing I could think of was dirty contacts so I cleaned them really good. Still no light. What else I can try?

1998 f150 4.6 4x4 auto 180k .... Runs 100% other than a strange and inconsistent overheating issue.
On cold startup truck will warm up. Then the temp gauge drops to practically 0. After 15-20 seconds gauge shoots up to max and then falls back to normal after 15-20 seconds. Then it'll go back to driving normally. At some point it pukes.

Just traded in a 2012 Nissan Sentra SR on a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and have a question about the gas mileage.
My Sentra always read 28+ MPG, but it was a known issue that the reading was almost exactly 3 MPG off; thus, I was hitting about 25 MPG most of the time. I could typically get by for a week and a half, sometimes two on a single tank (which was about 11 gallons).
I took the Santa Fe home on Thursday night, filled up from the dealer and reading a range of 384 MTE. As of tonight (Saturday), my fuel meter is reading two notches over the halfway mark and the range has dropped to 232 MTE. I haven't driven anywhere near 150 miles since Thursday, FYI.
The MPG on the Santa Fe started t a measly 12 MPG when I left the lot, most likely due to sitting and idling and lots of stop-and-go driving on test drives. I've since managed to get it up to 22.2 MPG (and feel confident it should eventually read about 25 MPG, about the same as my Sentra). Even though the MPG reading is going up, I feel like I'm going to be filling up the tank again without hitting a full week of driving (and this is a bigger tank than the Sentra). I'm not getting the difference. Is there an issue that I'm missing here? After checking in with the dealer that the previous owners used for service to ensure there were no red flags, they did tell me that it had an active bulletin for a software update. I've read in other places here that this update can have some effect on the MPG. Any thought on if these things are connected?

My 2.0t threw a MIL with code P0441 about 24 hours after having the timing and all replaced. I replaced the N80 valve last week, but this did not make the light turn off.
I also have a hard time starting after filling up. What this might be?

The check engine lamp on my '04 4cyl came on Saturday. I checked the code. It's P0441, which is supposed to be 'Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge.' I found a page on the web that said this might have to do with the gas cap. When I checked the cap it had not been tightened.
I've been driving it for 3 days and the check engine lamp is still on. How long should I expect it to take for it to extinguish? It seems unlikely to the point of incredible the gas cap was left loose (which I've never seen before) and another failure in this very system could have happened simultaneously. Particularly since this is the first time the check engine lamp has come on in 9 years and over 100,000 miles

I used an ELM327 to read codes with my BMW so when the check engine light came on my 2009 Prius I wanted to see what may be going on. It came back as a P0441. Going back to my BMW, it had a similar issue and changing the gas cap removed the code. So now I have a new cap on but the code remains.
I have a PCV on hand and plan on replacing that in the coming week.
I do not see where the PCV valve or spark plugs for that matter have been changed up to this point.
What I should be looking at with the P0441 code?

My Corolla has the P0441 code, but not the typical 0445 code that comes with a loose gas cap. I cleared it and it came back (yes, I checked the gas cap). Googling the issue, I found service bulletin SB 0392-08, which implies the ECM could need to be replaced if the issue is not in the Evap system.

Having 55k on my 2007 Santa Fe, and having brought it in 1 month ago for that 46k check up, this is my problem since. It started with an erratic gas gauge last Friday ,my tank said empty knowing i still had 1/4 tank, so l filled it up, 30 minutes later light goes on seems no gas in it, 30 seconds later check engine goes on, the Fe is running fine though, I called the dealer and made an appointment for next week, he said as long as car runs fine I can drive it.
Engine light goes off when fuel indicates 3/4 full, but erratic gas gauge seems to fluctuate.
