So far three times this week the factory alarm went off in the middle of the night. This happened before and the problem just went away. I have pulled the fuse for the horn so I can at least get some sleep.
How to troubleshoot this? Bringing it to the deal will be useless since I can't duplicate the problem.
This is an 08 Santa Fe limited edition.
My 2003 Camry LE is normally parked in our garage in Southern California so we have no problems. We have gone a few times to Utah, Arizona and other areas in So. Calif when it was very cold and had our alarm go off in the middle of the night. We turn it off and then it keep going off until we start driving it. Dealer doesn't want to disconnect alarm.
View 1 RepliesI am very happy with my 2010 corolla, except for the annoying beeping. I live in a very quiet townhouse row and the cars are parked right in front of the houses. So, when I get up in the morning to get in the car, it beeps when I unlock it and on good weather days when the windows are open, there are at least 20 units that can hear it. It is very embarrassing. What is worse, randomly in the middle of the night, at 230 or 3am, it will beep five times quickly. My neighbors want to kill me! The engine light has been on for a few weeks because I am due for an oil change. Could it be related to that? And how do I turn this thing off?

View 10 RepliesRecently I took my car in for an oil change, & after that when I lock my car it doesn't always make the beep noise to let me know the alarm system is armed.
A little while after that, my alarm started to go off randomly. This happens at random times, all my doors are closed and we even took the car in to get checked(they checked the wires or something I believe because they thought it had to do with my aftermarket remote start)
I've read somewhere about people saying it could have to do with my hood switches? But truth be told I'm not very good with cars.
So my factory car alarm has started going off by itself ; had to unhook horn wiring.
Bad hood switch issues are talked about ; seemed a little flaky when checked with meter so I changed it out, only $15. Hood pad already was made higher as a first try at fixing problem.
Still having alarm tripping sometimes. I read somewhere about the door lock actuators having a contact that tells alarm system when they are locked.
So I may have a faulty power lock assembly on one of the four doors. I have tried to open them when locked but they don't open. How to I tell which lock switch is bad , they are all pricy but the drivers rear is cheaper.
Last week, I went out to my garage to investigate a motion sensor event that shouldn't have occured. It was about 3:00 in the morning. The Prius had been powered off for probably 8 hours or more.
View 3 RepliesMy 2001 Chrysler Concorde courtesy lights come on mysteriously in the middle of the night? I put my slippers on and open and lock the doors and they go out okay but pop on again. Is this a short in the wiring harness to one of the doors?? Can I fix it myself? Can I pull a fuse and still operate the car? My battery is completely drained when I fly out of town.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 Prius V that is honking the horn in the middle of the night and sometime in the middle of the day ( 5 short honks of the horn). This has been occurring over the last few months.
1. Only one key FOB and it is stable ( not in a pocket or something pushing a button)
2. Car is confirmed to be locked before this occurs.
3. No alarm issue from what I can tell ( I get up right away and no one or animal is around the car)
3. Cannot find root cause on a current thread although one person stated that it might be that the 12 VDC battery is starting to go bad???
No other issue with the car.
In my new to me 99 F250 SD ,Started today off with switch sticking in drivers door causing dome light to be on when doors closed... oiled the crap out of the door mechanism and it started working. Later in the night I look out side notice the radio lights on with no key. Can't figure it out so pulled the face off and figure I'll look at it tomorrow and go to bed.
1:30 am the horns blaring! I open drivers door and horn stops, close it and it goes off I ended up pulling the batt cable so I could go back in the house. I did search for info with no sure real causes. Seems like it has happened to others as well.. BTW it did start raining before the radio stayed on. Thinking water in the dash or fuse panel. But it doesn't explain door switch problems I had earlier. Maybe 2 separate problems. This will be fun! Not!
Drove ~1500 miles this week, from MN to MA. While driving through PA my left headlight died in the middle of the night while raining. I ended up fixing it after spending an hour at a gas pump for shelter. Also in PA I randomly stopped.
View 14 RepliesMy Prius alarm goes off with no reason day and night. I did check everything like door and hatch back, they are properly closed and nothing could have caused the alarm to go off. I brought my car for checking but what the mechanic can do is just set the horn off, they couldn't find the cause.
View 12 RepliesMy passat has an alarm that will begin chirping every two or three minutes usually in the middle of the night and parked under my bedroom. I unlock doors with keyless remote and the doors will relock themselves after about a minute sometimes immediately. The only way to get this chirping to stop is to open the door of the car, sets off alarm and then lock system with the key. If I try to open the windows with the key the windows will only go down a inch or so and the locks will engage.
This will also happen when I do not lock the vehicle and set the alarm. I am willing to disengage the chirping entirely as I am not an alarm fan, especially now at 3AM resetting my car alarm. Typically this happens after the vehicle has been parked for 4-5 hours. If this system is pneumatic could there be a leak?
2004 Passat TDI owner
I left the lights on last night in our Santa Fe, and drained the battery.
Took the battery out and up to O'Reilly and they recharged it for me on their charger. When re-installing the battery the car alarm goes off as soon as I attach both battery cables. Turning the key in the ignition doesn't kill the alarm.
How do I reset the alarm and shut it up?
Security alarm not working after replacing front drivers side actuator. Paid a local Mechanic to replace actuator and now the security alarm when you press the door lock twice on the door remote is not arming. When I press the door lock on the remote once, the doors lock. When I press it a second time to enable the alarm and to hear the horn nothing happens at all. Light doesn't flash and horn doesn't sound.
View 5 Replies2012 Santa Fe SE and the battery went completely, utterly dead. Reason unknown but that's not the issue for now. The battery was purchased new.
Also, I had a Viper 4204 remote starter installed after I got the car, April 2014. I use the keyfob that came with the Viper to open the doors and start the car as needed.
Trying to get a jump start but as soon as I connect the cables the alarm goes off and the car won't start. Called the place where I had the remote start put in and he suggested two things. Use the original Hyundai keyfob and press the unlock button to stop the alarm. Or put the key in the ignition turned to the ON position BEFORE connecting the cable to the battery. Tried both, neither worked. Also tried just holding down the kill switch under the hood. But that didn't work either.
I'm a proud owner of a 2005 prius which until recently ran flawlessly. For the past 2 mos, one of both of the headlights randomly turn off at nighttime. If I turn the knob off, then back on, they both work.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sante Fe Gls and noticed that the A/C turns on randomly. Its frustrating that I have to turn it off and moments later it turns on again. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't duplicate the problem. What could be causing this?
View 5 RepliesSo we've had this issue randomly of course so I don't know that bringing it in will do us any good. The anti slip light will stay on while driving (after starup), or come on at some point. This has only been an issue once when it came on pulling into our driveway and I could not park the car or go in reverse. I had to shut the car off in neutral and restart it.

My radio completely shuts off in my Sante fe. But after several minutes it turns back on. Then off again, then on again.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Santa Fe and the front map light fixture was where my issue started. I believe from what I read that the diode had gone bad because the map lights would work if the light button was pressed, but not if the door button was pressed. At that point, the only issue I had was the light now working when the door opened. So, I ordered a replacement part and tried to install it today. It was harder to get the old one out than last time, but it came out no worse for wear and I unplugged the old map light fixture. I plugged in the new one and it did not work at all. I checked the wire and it looked fine, the prongs and they were fine and tried it again... nothing.
Now, the back seat dome light and trunk dome light don't work either. (with the new map light plugged in or not) Old one back in and still nothing. Checked the manual for the fuse that is supposed to control those lights and it is fine. I got frustrated because it made no sense and gave up for the night. (no light is even plugged in where the map light goes for now) I come in the house and now every hour or two (when I lock the car) the alarm sounds for no reason. The alarm button won't shut it off either, I have to hit unlock and it stops. (3 times in the last 5 hours now) So, I have decided to leave it unlocked for now. So far, so good. BUT, I need to lock my car when I am out without the alarm sounding and I need my dome lights working. Everything else with / in the car seems to be normal.
