Today I had to replace spare tire and although i closed well the tailgate, lamp never turned off, as always (amber light on instrument cluster). I had to disconnect battery to avoid draining it. Can it really drain with only inbst cluster turned on permanently. Where is the switch of this light? Could not find it?
View 9 RepliesI've just got a new to me 2007 Santa Fe and it's full of electrical gremlins. Today's problem is the idiot light indicating the tailgate is open is always on and the light in the hatch and the alarm randomly come on as well... the neighbours are not impressed. I can't find any pin switch on the hatch and where the switch is located. Is it a magnetic sensor? perhaps on the lock mechanism?
There is so little technical info available for these vehicles. I've always had VWs and the tech support online is insane. Hope i can resolve these problems as it seems like a good vehicle.
My car's driver's side tire looks almost flat as one of my co-workers indicated first but the tire pressure light is NOT on. Should I worry about it and get it checked out?
View 19 RepliesSo I've had my 07 Santa Fe GLS for 3 years now, and have been very happy with it up until this one issue. I noticed on long drives(more than 20 mins) all of the sudden the left rear tire would start squealing...like running your finger around a crystal champagne flute. A constant singing, stopped only when I apply the brake, and continued when i released the brake accelerated. VERY loud, quite embarrassing. When I got out of the car the rim was so hot i couldn't touch it. I took it to a shop who told me the calipers were most likely seized and it should be covered under warranty, as it is not typically a "wear and tear part".
Of course the dealer tells me it's not the calipers, its actually the brake pad so worn it was metal against the rotor and causing it so squeal. Didn't really make sense to me since the issue went away when i applied the brake but whatever, just get it done. They replaced the pads and rotor and the issue seemed to be gone. I only drive 3 miles each way to work and back with that car, so i guess i just assumed it was fixed, however a few weeks ago i tool it on a long drive and lo-and-behold...guess what was back? And the rim is still white hot to the touch. I don't want to take it back to the dealer without a little more knowledge on the subject... I don't want to ruin anything by still driving it...

I have a 2011 Santa Fe 3.5 6, FWD, 54k miles, that has been having the check engine light go on and off. Recently with in the pass month and a half the dealership has perform the recall adjustment, changed the manifold intake assy, changed the ECM with all visits rendered a P200A code. After changing the manifold assy, check engine light was off and fuel gage was at a 1/4 tank. Stop by a gas station and filled up and the light comes on. Remove gas cap after turning off engine and secured gas cap as directed on the cap of one click and light stays on. Turning into the dealership for the 4th time.
View 4 RepliesI have an MK6 2011 GTI that's been rock solid, but I'm having a weird problem with my 2010 Tiguan Wolfsburg with 52k miles. The 5yr warranty expired in July.
This weekend my wife catch a nail on the road and got a flat tire on the rear right side. It was the late night, no open tire shop open. We put the spare tire drive to home. Next morning when I was going to the tire shop the Tiguan and a message appeared on the MFI.
Here's the codes/messages that appeared at the same time.
ESP/ABS error.
Airbag error.
Steering wheel light on. (Yellow)
Electric Parking Brake light on. (Yellow)
Does a fault abs sensor would light all this? I saw there's a air bag error recall in a thread. I ordered the abs sensor, also the tensioner update kit to prevent failure?
I have a 2011 Sante Fe AWD 3.5L with 22K on it. The last few days I have been hearing this chirping noise coming from the left rear tire when I am stopped. When I am driving with windows closed or open I do not hear it, but when I pull into my driveway or a parking spot I hear it occasionally. Today, since I am looking out for it I get home, get out of the car and go to the left rear wheel well and sure enough it sounds like a chirping noise. Does not sound like it is mechanical and when I look under the car all seems OK. I put my ear right up to the top of the wheel near the well and I hear it. Sometimes it does not happen..
I suspect the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.....
I came home and just noticed that the V10 rear passenger side tire almost flat; I bent down and the nail head appeared to my eyes, I took the car over to the local Pepboys store to patch it up. And there is no key for the wheel lock. The mechanic and I had madly search all over the searchable spots..... and NO key for wheel lock! I called the dealer at two minutes after 5 and no service people there.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2007 Santa Fe GLS AWD that has a rear driver side tire problem. It starts after roughly 10 minutes of driving as a slight squeal. It starts at around 20mph and will quit when I reach 40mph. The longer I drive, the louder it gets to a point where it is almost constant between 20-40mph. It stops when I apply the brakes or when I turn slightly to the left or right. Also, if I stop and turn the car off it takes 5-10 minutes for the squealing to start again. There is a smell of hot metal and sweet smell coming from the area.
I had the rear brakes and rotors replaced 12,000 miles ago, and them checked at my local Hyundai dealer when I first noticed the squeal and the mechanic said the brakes and rotors in the rear did not need replacing. What it could be?
2007 Santa Fe tailgate will not open. When I use the key fob it goes through the lock and lock motion. When I grab the handel and squeeze the tailfate does not open. I took inside pannel off and checked and nothing seems broken. Also, sprayed wd40 to lube.
View 1 RepliesMy mother-in-law moved my car and put the emergency brake on (2010 Santa Fe) when she got out. When I got into drive home, I drove about 10miles with it engaged (for some reason the light didn't indicate it was on). When I got home I noticed a burnt rubber smell from the left rear tire. (no smoke though)
Our driveaway is an incline. After engaging/disengaging the e-brake, the light started coming back on again. If I put the car in neutral and release the regular brakes, it will quickly roll back. If I put the e-brake on in netural and disengage the regular brake, it still holds fine on the hill.
I know the damage can vary, but any test or check I can do to determine the amount of damage?
I've not long had my 2007 SF but I noticed that the tailgate area is not as quiet as it should be. There is a definite thump over typical poorly repaired roads in the UK, but there is also a rattle. I thought one culprit might have been the spare wheel since there is a spring which allows some movement. My main focus is the tailgate I was wondering if anything can be adjusted to keep it still.
View 7 RepliesA few days ago I felt a feeling of bumping on a flat road when I turn slowly. I was wondering if it might be a transmission shift shock due to an insufficient warming at the cold temperature. It seemed such bumping didn't happen after enough warming more than 5 minutes.
The outside temp was just above 0 degree on yesterday morning, I started SF without warm-up and drove about 15 minutes. Then I was making 3 point turn on a residential road covered with a little bit of ice on its edge when I felt one of rear wheel was slipped a bit on the ice and rear wheel got locked or seized and skipped. Upon the complete turn I was able to drive the SF home slowly cautiously, however every time I made a slow sharp turn left or right there had been skipping leaving tire marks on the driveway.
I thought 4wd lock was initially activated at that time and it had not been deactivated since. I tried to push and release 4wd lock button several time with no success, and I felt the SF moving very heavier than usual. I was trying to park the vehicle backward with a sharp turn too, it was much harder to turn back than forward feeling like rear wheels were stuck somewhere, suddenly there was a loud banging or thumping sound from bottom behind. Right after the banging the SF was moving as normal.
Today I tested SF by driving above 60km/hr as well as sharp turning for 30 minutes, everything looked normal. A couple of hours later I decided to test 4wd lock button again. While I driving SF at about 10km/hr I pushed 4wd lock button and released it 15 seconds later. I did it a couple of times because I was not sure if 4wd lock was activated and deactivated. And I was making 3 point turn again, then the same rear wheel seizure and skidding happened. I stopped the SF and I pushed and released 4wd button a couple of times with no success.
Finally I tried to turn back as I did before, and there was a banging sound, I thought the sound was weaker than yesterday, since then everything went back to normal. There is no grinding or clunking noise from the area where the differential unit is located. I was wondering if mine has faulty electronic clutch itself or any other components. The warranty was over 5 months ago, mileage is only 49,000km.
I drive a 2010 Santa Fe and have had this issue for a couple of months. After driving for approximately 20 minutes my ESC indicator light comes on and stays on. I'm not braking at the time or doing anything other than driving in a straight line on a clear road at about 80 km/hr. Drives fine for the rest of the trip even with the indicator on. After I shut the car off and then restart the indicator is off. Later in the day when I drive for another 20 minutes or so the indicator comes on again and stays on until I shut the car off and restart.
View 16 RepliesThe tire pressure monitor comes on when there is only .5 difference in one tire. Then it won't go off.
Also, the driver's side mirror will not program and it has a mind of its own just changing randomly every time I back in.
2011 Santa Fe with a problem with the fan. Believe it's the radiator fan. First time it happened, wife shut off car and fan was still on. Started it back up and shut it off a couple of times and it stayed off. That was over a year ago. Then today, same thing except she didn't notice it until she came back out to car and the battery was totally dead. Got a boost and as soon as they hooked up the leads from good battery the fan was on. I saw someone in a thread about a 2006 Sonata (?) doing this kind of thing.

View 3 RepliesSometimes my clutch pedal stays down on the floor. I can bring it back alive after a few pumps. I assume one of the oil cylinders died. Looking for a schematic of where it s located?
A few days before I felt a metal scraping sound when I pushed the clutch pedal down. The scraping resistance happened when the pedal was aprox. 2-3 cm's from the floorboard. It scratched like 15 to 20 times and then went away. Now the clutch pedal died on me.
Fluids are checked and on level. 2009 2.2 CRDI diesel with 45.000km's ...
The dealer says it can be one of the 2 cylinders but since it's not happening all the time he suggest bringing it in and change them all.
2000 F350 CC DRW 4X4. There's a 3 light bar lamp mounted here that needs replacing. Plastic mounting -Grote 10-7016-01 PCC.- Can't find one. looking for replacement PN? like to have LED.
