Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 - Loud Horn Sound On Locking
Sep 8, 2011
If you push the remote lock button twice the horn beep is very load and startling. Can this be programed for a lower volume sound?

View 5 RepliesJust got a 2007 Passat with 33k on it. So far, aside from he rock chip i got on the windshield on the way to work on day 1, I love this car. Put about 500 miles on it so far in less than a week. I have to do the typical stuff like replace the DV and cam follower, but, I do have 1 question. When I lock the car or hit the panic button on the remote, only the lights go on. There is no horn sound. But, when I press the horn, it works. Could it be a fuse, if so, which one? I looked in the manual and could not find the horn fuse on the diagram.
View 6 RepliesEvery time car is locked, a very loud buzz comes from the nearside front door. I have had the problem for over a year - the locking still works, but clearly something is wrong.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2011 sonata gls. Today I noticed when locking the car with the remote keyless entry, the hazard lights don't blink, and also no horn feedback when the remote is pressed twice within 4 seconds. I checked all settings in the display and horn feedback is set to "on". The unlock on the fob works fine, the hazard lights do blink for that. I know this is not a serious issue, just used to hearing and seeing the doors lock. What to look for to fix this?
View 1 RepliesAm enjoying my 2014 Passat Sport, but would like info on how to turn off the horn from beeping when I lock the car.

I've isolated this rattle down to the cam phaser( CVVT) in the right cylinder head. It rattles bad for 2-3 secs on cold start or after it sits for 3 hours.
I've put in 5w20 synthetic oil and synthetic Lucas additive and it cleared up the noise for short interval start ups.
I changed the cam phaser in the right head with a used one ( 40k ) but it didn't make a difference. I should change out the attaching cam as well.
I just installed new brake pads in my 2WD 2009 Santa Fe. I bought the cheapest AutoZone pads. Now I have a loud squeal sound when I apply the brakes. If I apply a hard brake the squeal goes away. Until I apply the brakes again. Now, after install...I have been researching and noticed that the stock pads are ceramic. I did apply (Not once but twice) break grease on the pads. What the problem might be? Oh yeah, I did see that after 2007, oiling the caliper springs is required and might be the problem too. But I do not know where the spring in question is and how to oil it.
View 4 RepliesI turned off the engine and I get a whirring sound, quite loud, that seems to be coming from the top of the engine around where the injectors are.
View 51 Replies6K mile 2011 Santa Fe Limited front wheel drive V6 and I am getting a humming/howling sound at 55+ MPH and it is very annoying, not too loud but there. It is really bad at 75+...
The tires were road forced balanced and a alignment was done by the dealer. The Rear was way out of align but they supposedly fixed it.
I do not get any kind of vibration in the body or steering wheel but the humming/howling sound is terrible. Almost like when you crack one of the rear windows and you get that pressure sound...
I have a 2011 Santa Fe 3.5L with about 108,000 kms (roughly 65,000 miles) that seems to have produced a bit of a whining sound from the engine. It will do it in park, or in gear, and the sound seems to increase slightly with an increase in RPMs.
View 7 RepliesLast Saturday I had the oil changed at the dealer on my 2011 Santa Fe Limited V6 3.5. As I left the lot, I noticed knocking and reduced power. I went back in and they took it out for a drive and it was gone. The engine had been turned off and back on when before they went out. I went out with them again and it was gone.
Today I drove about 10 minutes, stopped and turned it off for about 10 minutes, and when I started it again and drove off, the knocking was back. It lasted about 5 minutes in stop and go driving. I might have been imagining it, but it didn't seem to completely recover until I turned off the engine and started it again (about 10 minutes in).
What can I do to narrow it down? I don't know what it is, but when I try to think what the symptoms are like, it's as though a cylinder is not firing. So far it has only happened twice and the first time right after an oil change. It has 50,000 miles on it if that's relevant.
New 2012 Santa Fe with factory remote start alarm (installed at the dealer). Had it for a few weeks now. Park it in the garage with our other vehicles. In the middle of the night I wake up to hearing a horn going off at irregular intervals for about 20 seconds. Since this was very sudden and startling to say the least, I waited to see if it would stop before running downstairs with the baseball bat . Also the alarm system on the home was not tripped so I hesitated to jump to that conclusion. So after what appeared to be 20 seconds the horn stopped and I grabbed the key fob and locked the doors twice and heard the confirmation horn beep.
Now about the horn... like i said it wasn't at regular intervals as you so often hear as car alarms have. Instead it was irregular as if someone was just sitting in it and honking the horn as they wished. Second, the horn tone sounded like the loud horn on the Santa Fe. I say this because I've come to learn that all our other vehicles parked in the garage don't have horns as loud as the Santa Fe. This distinction I clearly picked up on from day one. Now at 4 in the AM is it possible I was wrong and it was one of the other vehicles?... possibly I guess, but the likelihood is not since I've had those other vehicles for a long time and this never happened before the Santa Fe.
Is it possibly related to the blind spot detection system. I have had this happen to me once at an intersection (no lane change) and I thought someone was blowing their horn at me. My wife has had it happen on several occasions (never lane changes). This morning she was leaving he shopping mall at a stop sign and a car was coming down the cross street towards her (but not close) and there was this mysterious horn sound. I remember the salesman saying something about a warning sound when backing out of a parking space if a car was coming at you.
View 3 RepliesI am having this giant problem with my 2008 Santa Fe. The battery died and I replaced it and I think that the security system is locking out from starting the car. Step by step of what happened:
1. Connected battery terminals
2. Horn goes off (continuously not beeping)
3. Try and start the car but it does not start. Doesn't turn over nothing at all but the interior and dash lights do work but it does not let me unlock the doors using the button (not sure if that means anything).
4. Pull horn fuse because it's waking up my neighbors.
At this point the car has been sitting for about two weeks, the battery is not connected and I'm really stuck. I've tried connecting the battery, locking the doors and letting it sit for 45 seconds and that didn't work. I replaced the battery in the key fob and that did nothing. My last step was to reach out here and honestly next would be to tow it to the dealer.
Every time my car alarm goes off, the horn sounds like a clown car. The kids on my 10 year old baseball team even joke about it--its that bad. So, is it just me or are y'all embarrassed when the alarm goes off?
View 17 RepliesJust noticed I have no more horn... I had car alarm issues for a while and the alarm would sound all day in the parking garage while I was at work (was keeping the car unlocked at home...) Finally fixed the hood pin.
Going back to the horn, the horn fuse was burned in the hood relay box, and when I replaced it and tried the horn again, it burned again... Where to start? Do I go for new relays, new horns, new wiring or all of the above...
I have 2007 Santa fe Limited and have problem with door locking while driving. All doors was locking automatically after acceleration before, but now all doors remains open no matter what speed and what distance I drive.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 Sante Fe Sport 3.3; that recently just started locking itself. The way i knew was because the horn kept going off as if we were pushing the lock button on the keyfob a bunch of times. Well the keyfob wasn't being pushed and the only way I could get it to stop beeping was to hold the unlock button on it. I thought it was the battery dying on the keyfob but I took it out and the car continued to beep. We are taking it in to the service department tomorrow. The only was I can stop the madness is if I have the door partially open, to break the circuit (I would imagine)
View 16 RepliesI had a flat tire and used the spare. I took my 2007 santa fe in to the shop to get the tire replaced and an oil change. The 'shop' put the spare back where it belongs.
Now my keyless entry locks the doors (audible) but does not flash the lights or honk the horn. The lights flash when unlocking and when pressing the panic button. It all worked correctly when I dropped it off at the 'shop'. What to look for?
I have a 2011 Santa Fe 3.5L automatic with AWD. I have had a issue with the traction control indicator locking up. The traction control light on the dash goes on and cannot be canceled by the on/off control. It will reset when the engine is turned off and restarted. It is my understanding that the indicator should be lit when the system is actively meeting a traction control issue.
The dealer has performed service on the vehicle twice for this issue, and on a recent trip the system triggered again. It has engaged and locked on dry surfaces during a moderate turn while accelerating (merging from exit ramp). I have seen it engage under slippery conditions (snow... we live in Wisconsin) while turning and then return to normal once the conditions are stable.
My concern is that since the traction control affects braking in order to achieve stability under unusual conditions, that the possibility exists for a malfunction under braking conditions that might cause more problems than it solves.
2012 Santa Fe - is there anyway to lock the doors remotely when the key is in the ignition & car running?
