I have year 2011 santa fe, while mileage after 7000km, i have problem in air-cond, when i returned to my car within 3 minute to 5 minutes and start engine i can smell some source of chemical smell from air-cond for 3 second, why ? if i started engine after an hour then there is no smell, why ?

I purchased a foaming cleaner that is mean to be sprayed by inserting a small tube in the evaporator pan drain, but the design on my santa fe drain hose prevents the tube from making it to the core. It always gets jammed up at firewall because of a 90 deg bend. Is there a port on the housing that allows access to the core?

View 7 RepliesSo I started my car today and when I got back in it about 5 minutes later I could smell gas, faintly, but it was undeniable. I ran my vin through vw's recall system and came up empty. I'm going to get it checked out on Monday.
Also on my way home from dinner my radio stopped producing sound. When I tried turning the volume up the volume bar wouldn't move. I was on xm radio at the time and I switched to fm and am with no difference. Then I switched to my sd card. I was able to select a song but it wouldn't load on the main screen. I turned my car off and nothing changed. I tried using my phone and that worked, but after, the radio still wouldn't work. Then about 5 minutes later it started working again. So weird.
I saw that other people had problems with their stereo but it didn't seem the same.
Went on a road trip over the weekend and had some problems with the A/C. 200 miles into the trip I noticed the fan with the setting on 4 started to get weak and wasn't very cold. After getting stopped for a speeding ticket and sitting idle for 15 minutes, ice chunks starting flying out of the vents. After this happened it was fine.
View 1 RepliesI bought a used 2007 Santa Fe about 4 months ago. 45k miles. The TPMS work nice. I had a tire start getting low and it told me which one.
But every once in a while the other light, just the TPMS light comes on for a couple minutes and then goes off. The manual says if this light comes on than something with TPMS is malfunctioning. But it doesn't stay on constantly.
I have Hyundai Santa Fe, 2009 (automatic). when I start engine in the morning everything is fine except the reverse gear. the reverse gear moves to position easily but the car does not move. After 5 minutes of starting engine, the reverse gear works again.
View 1 Replies07 That has 138K miles. The noise starts around 10 minutes of driving. Th engine sounds like a diesel engine. The noise has lasted 5 to 10 minutes. Then shut it off and it won't return til the next morning...Same thing. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO OCCUR on start-up. It has to run for about 10 minutes (moving) or so. Changed out the water pump. The noise is coming from near or behind the water pump.
My mechanic is stumped but he pretty much thinks it's coming from behind the water pump. That leads me to believe it's the timing chains/tensioner's etc. But the time it starts up is throwing me off. When it is cold I think I can hear a little clacking that shuts off quickly after oil pressure gets going but it's not really the same sound that were are hearing when moving and the crazy sound starts and it is LOUD!
We were thinking it was the timing belt tensioner however, it is not behaving like it should.
Our santa fe 2008 diesel randomly stalls. Most of the time the stall happens after at least 15mins of driving but I am not sure if its just a coincidence. It only happens when the car is stopped. When it happens, i put the car in park, turn off AC, then turn the car back on. It starts right up but is a bit rumbling like it will stall again. When i press the accelerator there is no response.
If I turn on the AC or turn the wheels, it dies. If i put it in drive or reverse it also dies. That happens around 3-5 times, then after that, everything is good again. Accelerator responds normally, car doesn't stall. Its driving me crazy! Whats worse is sometimes it doesn't occur for 1month! Then all of a sudden it stalls again. Bought the car 2nd hand and since january it died around 8-10 times.
I brought it to a reputable mechanic and they checked the fuel system. Replaced the fuel filter, fuel sensor. They even tried a different pump and sanction valve and it still didn't fix it. They kinda concluded that its not in the fuel system already, but they are at a loss. Its very hard to trigger since we don't know what really causes the stalling. All we know is that it only occurred when the car is stopped.
When first starting a 2012 Sante Fe GLS with standard AC each morning, the vents blow warm for up to 3-5 minutes and therafter are fine. Additional starts for the remainder of the day seem fine. We live in a hot climate, but our 2011 Sonata, which is parked in the same garage, does not have this problem. No unusual soundsor lack of air circulation, and after 5 minutes it spontaneously starts to blow cool air. Problem began 2 months after purchase.
View 4 RepliesI recently replaced the wipers on my 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. The new wipers are a rather expensive one-piece design that tends to bounce along the windshield producing an irritating noise. Never had this problem with the original equipment wipers. I have cleaned the wipers with alcohol, which temporarily improves the situation but the problem quickly returns. Only relief comes during major downpours.

View 11 RepliesThe past two days my 2008 Santa Fe has been exhibiting power failure upon starting. When the ignition is switched on then to start all power is lost immediately with no start nor crank. I hear a metallic click seemingly too light a sound for a starter solenoid but since this has not happened before it could be a solenoid sound. All power is lost including dash and marker lights. After about 5 seconds or so the marker lights and dash will return and the car will start normally. I expect a circuit breaker is resetting. This has happened three starts in a row at least eight hours apart. This morning the dash clock was 8 or so hours behind but the car started normally. 62k on the car.
View 6 RepliesWell its the coldest this SF has endured while in my barn. It was -23C last night or early this morning went we got up. -19C now but it doesn't warm up with a slight change sitting outside. I started it ok but these newer vehicles sure make a lot of whining and other noises when its this cold until they run for a minute they quiet down.
My old Grand Cherokee was a lot quieter even with near 300k on it it. But my wife's Jeep Compass a 2009 made enough noises as well. Both have synthetic oil in them. I just don't like hearing all that and wonder what its like for you that are in much colder climate with your SF since -30 to -40C is common in other parts of Canada in the Winter. Just curious because it cannot be good and the PS pump must be one of the complainers I am sure.
I have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with 83k on it. For some months now, I have always been smelling strong fuel scent in the cabin. I took it to the workshop and was told it's my fuel canister so i handed money to the Mechanic to buy one to replace it. He called back to tell me he cannot get one to but can work on it by blocking the pipes or lines. I am not that convinced because i know the canister is there for a purpose so if he goes ahead to block the pipe or whatever, then it means something else can go wrong in the interim; but I'm in a quandary now and want that fuel scent to stop.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Santa Fe GLS AWD that has a rear driver side tire problem. It starts after roughly 10 minutes of driving as a slight squeal. It starts at around 20mph and will quit when I reach 40mph. The longer I drive, the louder it gets to a point where it is almost constant between 20-40mph. It stops when I apply the brakes or when I turn slightly to the left or right. Also, if I stop and turn the car off it takes 5-10 minutes for the squealing to start again. There is a smell of hot metal and sweet smell coming from the area.
I had the rear brakes and rotors replaced 12,000 miles ago, and them checked at my local Hyundai dealer when I first noticed the squeal and the mechanic said the brakes and rotors in the rear did not need replacing. What it could be?
My santa fe just recently quit starting. Thought it was a bad battery and I replaced it but it didn't work. When I try to start the relay clicks like low voltage but I am measuring the battery voltage while trying to start and it doesn't drop. After trying to start the instrument lights go out and the key chime quits beeping. Remote key locks work but the horn doesn't sound if I click lock twice. I have measured the battery voltage from Battery plus the the frame and the voltage is good during the start attempt. If I measure the battery voltage from battery plus to the engine as ground there is no voltage. I have tried to jumper the engine block to the frame and still the relay just clicks during start.
View 2 RepliesMy 2009 awd SF is less than 4 years old and has about 81500 km on. In the past few days, I start to feel a little hesitation while starting the car. I have an incident today in which the car barely turn over - behaved exactly as if the battery is dying. Took it to the dealer and spent 55$ for a diagnosis => alternator is OK (what a relief) but the battery is weak. I do not think battery would die (stop holding charge) this soon. I expect at least 5-6 years of service from a battery.
View 31 RepliesIt seems like I have to jiggle the steering wheel, about 1/2 the time, to get my ignition key to turn to the start mode. I've owned quite a few other vehicles and this has happened occasionally on some of the others, but never as often as with the SF.
View 6 RepliesMy 2009 Santa Fe (2.7 L V6 GL, 5 months old 7500 kms) just recently started making some very pronounced knocking noises on startup when the engine is cold. It never did this before and only lasts a minute or less, it's not that the engine itself is very cold since I keep it in a heated garage all the time when it's home, but when the engine is starts first thing in the morning it's very noticeable.
I have an appt. at a dealership tomorrow to get it checked, outside of an oil change I never dealt with these guy's before. What it could be? It's full of oil which they just changed 4 weeks ago.
