A couple of weeks ago I had to have the cam sensor, and the crank sensor on my 2005, 2.7 v6, Santa Fe changed. Since the change on long drives the ABS, and the TCS light will come on simultaneously, and it almost feels like the ABS is being activated without any real reason too.
View 1 RepliesJust bought a Santa Fe CRTD CDX on UK plates 2005 year model. After successful test drive took the vehicle home. After 20-30 minutes driving the ABS light came on. Restarted the vehicle and had no problem for next hour.
Next day same procedure so went to Hyundai dealer. After plugging in his laptop he said the sensor near the hand brake was the problem. This was replaced and had no problem all day.
Next day after 30 mins driving on came the light again. Took the vehicle back to the garage where I bought it and its been there for 4 days. They say the light has not come on, but I would question whether they would drive around for 30-60 minutes.
The ABS and TCS lights on my 05 SF 2.7L come on together intermittently. This started few days ago. So far I have not experienced any symptoms or problems. When the lights come on, they remain on until the ignition is switched off. Then it may not come on during the next trip.
I researched this online and from what I have read and understood, this appears to be caused by a problem with the speed sensor at the wheels, likely a damaged tone ring. I called a Hyundai dealer and after much discussion they said they 'might' cover this under power train warranty, but only if the lights coming on are due to damaged tone ring.
My question, is there a way I can inspect the tone rings? If yes, how? Also, what kind of code scanner do I need to get the ABS TCS diagnostic trouble codes?
So I lent my santa fe to a buddy to do some hauling, I got it back yesterday and the turn signals and the brake lights don't work...notta. Regular running lights are working without issue, but no turn signals, no hazards, no brakes. Even the "tick, tick, tick" of the turn signal is gone, it's just dead.

But even when not fiddling with the dial, I hear an electric motor sounding noise from them time to time, just a short <1s whirring sound. I listen with the bonnet open and I'm pretty sure it's coming from the headlights. Is this normal? is there any way I can stop it?

View 3 RepliesLast week while I was on vacation I had the battery light and brake light on the dash both come on at the same time. Just as these came on I was driving through some water on the road from a heavy storm that had happened earlier in the day. As I drove through, the lights came on at the same time and I lost power steering as well, after about 15 - 30 seconds both lights went off and everything was normal. It happened again later that day as well, same scenario, driving through some water, both lights came on, and no power steering. The lights once again went out after a short period, 15 seconds or so. What might be causing this? I was thinking maybe the alternator is going bad but I have not seen any other issues, lights dimming or things like that.
2004 Santa Fe 2.7L V6 with about 94000 miles.
I have a 2005 Santa Fe, and both power mirrors quit working at the same time. I plugged in a different switch, and still nothing. I checked the 10 amp fuse under the dash and that was good (is there a different one). The locks still work though.

View 2 RepliesI Get a humming noise in all my speakers if I have my DTR lights on... Fog lamps don't matter, head lamps don't matter, just the day time running lights make it hum. If I have the lights set to "auto" and it's day time it hums, and if I switch it to day lights it keeps humming. But if I turn on the headlights (day light turns off) or if I turn the headlights off, the humming stops both ways. Fog lamps don't matter at all either. Why I'm getting humming with just the day time running lights??

View 2 RepliesWhen firing up the engine cold it runs really rough, smells very rich all the time, even warmed up. No codes set, fuel trims are within 5-10%. I've replaced the front O2 sensor, swapped crank & cam sensors, Map sensor (have lots of spare parts) & I'm sure there was more things I've changed but can't remember. I have a snap on scanner and everything is within parameters.
I have not checked the EGR valve or solenoids yet. It's a 2006 Santa Fe 2.4l 5 speed, new timing belt & balance belt replaced when I dropped this engine in. Is there a common problem with these that I could begin looking for?
I will occasionally get a misfire after a rain storm, lasts about ten minutes then goes away. there is also a slight miss (no CEL) at idle, that occurs all the time. I'm thinking spark plug wires.... the plugs were done last year, but nothing else. to my knowledge the wires and coil packs are all original. i'm at about 114K on a 2004 santa fe 3.5l.
Also, does the computer store misfire codes? I know I got them in the past and i checked it at the time, but didn't write down what cylinder it was. think it'll still be in memory?
Think it's ok to change just the wires and not the coil packs? kind of on a budget...
I am currently driving a 2005 Elantra (manual trans) with only 48k miles on it. Less than a year after buying the car new the clutch had to be replaced (around 10k miles) and now the second clutch is about to go as well. I do not ride the clutch or drive like a maniac so there is no reason to be on a second clutch at 48k, let alone a third one. Is there anything I can do besides putting a new clutch in to protect against this problem in the future? Also, would installing a stronger, high-performance clutch work?
View 1 RepliesJust bought a used 2011 SF GLS and the interior lights weren't coming on. I engaged the "door" button on the back seat dome light and they now come on as they should when the doors are opened or closed. BUT I can't get the front map lights to come on at all when the door opens. Engaging the "door" button for the map lights doesn't do it.

View 1 RepliesLast oil change at the dealer (they're free) I informed the service desk of some knocking and grinding noises that are happening from time to time in the front end.. and fluid in the driveway.. they did the oil and said they saw nothing... so I have to go back next week for my last free oil change and before I made the appointment, I dropped in to see my regular mechanic.. steering rack is leaking on the passenger side and has been for a while as the fluid is down to the minimum line in the reservoir.
Made the appointment with the dealer, informed them about the noise again and fluid on the driveway.. again. Let's see what they say this time.
Over the past year we have been noticing that the HVAC blower doesn't turn on from time to time. All settings in the control panel seem normal and the fan speed is turned on. Most of the time everything is working normally, sometimes when the car starts the blower isn't working and then starts after a minute of driving. Sometimes I notice the blower isn't working and I turn up the fan speed and after a few clicks it starts working normally for the remainder of the drive. And then sometimes the blower doesn't ever start and I need to turn off and restart the car a few times. When the blower hasn't been working the a/c compressor has been turning on, something in the blower circuit is failing.
There are five possibilities:
The HVAC controller isn't telling the blower to turn on
The power relay isn't always working
There is a wiring or connection problem
The blower motor itself isn't working
The power mosfet is failing.
What needed to be replaced?
When I put in the key all lights come on, when I turn to start I get one click then nothing. The lights do not dim or turn off at all.
