Last week my wife's 2004 Santa Fe with 68k went into limp mode, when I ran the code reader it came up with throttle position sensor and pedal position sensor. After fixing both the car runs great except for a Grabby or sudden shift from 2nd to 3rd. It shifts at about the right rpm but very hard. I am wondering if there is trans codes that need to be reset that my code reader is not able to do.

Car is perfect, cept when i shift into 6th its really grabby with a grind. does it every time.
should I take the car in to have it checked out, is this normal?
I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, has 99,000 miles 3.5L. After changing the alternator (alternator did die and drained my battery, the shop recharged the battery) now it seems be stuck in 3rd gear and does not wont to shift (it is a automatic). Fluids are good, transmission was flushed between 50-60,000 miles.

View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Santa Fe V6 2.7 liter, FWD, 215,000+ miles. When it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the whole vehicle jerks. It does not do this on the other gears. I took it by a transmission place for a free scan and they said the transmission is fine.

View 1 RepliesMy 2001 Santa Fe 2,4l - Have suddenly lost the abillity to shift gear. Its stuck in 2 and the shift stick is very loose in the "front to back and back to front" motion.. in other words there are resistance sideways.
I suspect it to be a broken shift cable. So my question is : changing shift cable on a santa fe easy? Is the best approach to start from inside the vehicle or from transmission side?
Have an 02 Auto with the 2.7, 4wheel drive, and it doesn't shift into 5th gear. Can go through the 4 gears with the manual shift, but when just in drive, only shifts up to 4th. At 65mph, RPM's over 2500.
View 3 RepliesOn my 2011 Prius Four, the brakes are VERY sensitive and bordering on "grabby" when in reverse gear. I don't know if that is common or if I should have it worked on by dealer. Brakes are fine in forward gear.
View 8 RepliesMy 03 (129k miles, 2.7 AWD) is up to date on all maint (this summer saw new timing belt etc., transmission service) and oil is current. Spark plugs are due at 131k. Air filter is new, tire pressure maintained at 30-32psi.
MPG has consistently been ~20, slightly more on trips. October 27 to November 26 was 19.8 mpg. Putting on brand new snows (General Altimax Arctic) knocked it down to 17.5 mpg for the next ~250 miles. However, since early December it's dropped again to 13 mpg!
Mechanic just checked for brake drag (none - rotating one wheel turns all 3 others easily); no pulling, rolls well in Neutral. No engine symptoms (missing, bucking) or CEL lights. Power seems a little diminished (for instance, it takes longer to shift during acceleration sequence).
I will add my Lucas Oil gas treatment just in case it may be injectors. My mechanic says he has seen MPG suffer from certain gas brands (and I do wonder if the tank fillup after which the MPG dropped had something to do with it).
Codes P0210 and P0733 for throttle sensor and third gear mismatch came in.
Dealer is going to replace throttle position sensor and said the Hangar Bearing is bad needing replacement.
I was just curious how long those jobs take to do roughly?
I have had the Santa Fe back and forth to the garage no power. We where driving it and all a sudden dropped power can't rev motor over 3000 rpm. Garage said they fixed it with dry gas and more gasoline b/c it was "low" between 1/4 and empty?
View 12 RepliesOn my '03 Santa Fe 2.7, this has happened twice, with 500 or so uneventful miles in between. At highway speed, it just all of a sudden loses power and will only go about 50 mph with accelerator to the floor. When you stop & put in neutral, it only revs to about 3000 rpm, with pedal to the floor -yet idles fine. Then when you shut it down, wait a few minutes & start it back up, it's fine. Is this a fuel problem or what?
View 6 RepliesI was driving down the road and the car was driving great. all of the sudden I heard a clunk and the car lost power and started shuddering. I made it home and cut the car off. When I start it now, the car runs rough and stalls out. I can't get it to a place to check the codes so I am trying to self diagnose. I was thinking it might be the MAF so I took it out and cleaned it well. there is still no change in the way the car runs. it seems like the fuel isn't getting to the engine as I put my foot on the gas pedal it stalls out. I'm not too excited about buying a throttle body if it's the MAF. It could possibly be something else.

View 19 RepliesI notice the brakes are very grabby right before you come to a complete stop. This seems to occur more when this brakes are cold. Is this typical with the gen 2's? Mine in a 2005 if that makes a difference. So far with 2k miles on the car I'm not a big fan of the brakes, but everything else I love.

View 3 RepliesOn my Santa fe 2009 , Just noticed that I can shift from PARK to R, N, D or anything else without pressing on the brake. I checked the gear sticky by the mechanic , and we found that the lock on the gear sticky not exists. So I am worry if that normal and it's like safety option that not exists on my car? Also , is it something that may case damage to the transmission , or just Safety option .
View 8 RepliesHaving issue with those plastic shutter flaps under the gear shift console? I think something might have been spilled in there because they have a tendency to be 'sticky' when moving the gear shift back and forth. Sometimes it gets bad enough that they get jammed up trying to move it forward into park. What I'd like to do is take the console cover off to get at them to either clean or replace them. Have part of the gear shift console off?
View 2 RepliesI have an '04 Elantra GLS with 274k on it. I've been caring for it myself with basic maintenance; that said, I changed the oil in it about 100 miles ago. Halfway through my drive home it started to idle rough under 1k rpm.
I've noticed a lot of other Hyundai's have the same issue. What would be/is the most COMMON cause of this? Timing belt? Basic tune up? I moved a state away from my local shop and I refuse to go to a Midas/Jiffy/ect.
I have a 2003 Santa Fe automatic transmission that sometimes will not shift out of 1st gear. Sometimes it works great. I took it to my local garage and he told me that it needed a transmission control module and to take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing wrong with it at all. I brought it home and still some days it works great and some days will not shift out of 1st gear. What part needs replacement?
