Every time I start this car there is a strong smell of gasoline. I've already checked for leaks and didn't find any. Could this be caused by the fuel canister in the rear of the vehicle this has gone bad?

View 2 RepliesI own a 97 honda Passport (270,000 miles). My air con functions okay, the problem is the noise. At idle+air on, the revs drop and an unusually loud whine can be heard. Increase the RPM and it goes away. Friend says it the AC clutch, may not be getting full 12V signal.

I was thinking it was the transmission but last week the car wouldn't start either. So we replaced the battery and then it started. Wondering if this is an electrical issue that is causing this and not the transmission.

I usually get about 300 miles to the tank, but now my miliage has dropped significantly. The check engine popped on and off for awhile and now its on steady. The computer reads the error of "Insufficient EGR Flow". My mileage has dropped down to about 240-250.
I've already put a brand new EGR Valve in it. That's the only code the computer reads.
I know my mechanic cleaned out the valve part itself I don't' know if he did anything other then that.
When he put the new valve on the car ran without the check engine light for a day then came back, and if I am not mistaken my gas mileage was back to normal, but since the check engine light has come back on the mileage has dropped back down again.
2001 Pontiac Bonneville. 135000 miles. Running well. Only in the morning for about 10 minutes after starting and riding there is a strong burning smell. Don't see any leaks.

View 3 RepliesAs I mentioned earlier I have a 2001 Ford Focus and for the past month I've been smelling gasoline in the interior of the car, especially when the heater is running and the car has just started. My mechanic, as yet, had been unable to discover a source of the gasoline fumes. The fumes are so strong that if a source cannot be found the car is, for all-intents-and-purposes undrivable. If this problem cannot be resolved, there is a real possibility that I'll have to get a new car. What, if any thing, do I tell prospective buyers, should I decide to sell the car?

View 5 RepliesI bought a 2004 Santa fe with the 2.4 engine not running. It will not get spark, it is getting fuel I can smell it strong after cranking...It has a new crank position sensor, I took the timing cover off to verify. Whoever put the sensor on cut the wires and soldered/ heat shrink them back together obviously because they didn't want to remove the timing belt. It Also it has a new ignition failure sensor, all fuses are good, there was a spare computer in the vehicle which I tried still no luck. I took loom off and looked at the harness and can't find anything.
View 8 RepliesI have an Oct 2001 2.7 GLS which apart from the odd ABS Tone Wheel and speed sensor issues has been uber reliable and a real pleasure to own (I've had it from new).
We had a problem about a year ago when the wife didn't get the fuel cut-off when filling up and over filled the car resulting in fuel pouring out of the tank vent and down the fuel tank under the car but after a long drive that cleared up and has not happened again. Interestingly we didn't get any engine CEL's or have any codes turn up at all when checked by my mechanic.
Over the past couple of weeks we have noticed a very strong smell of fuel under the car around the fuel tank. I can't see any indication that there is a fuel leak but have noticed when filling up that the smell is very strong and as the car runs the fuel down the smell reduces to almost nothing.
Today I removed the rear seats and the fuel pump access panels to see if there was any seeping around the pump gaskets but couldn't see anything and the top of the tank around the both pumps was a dry as a bone. Using a torch I did however notice that there was a darkening of the fuel tank surface in the centre which I guess is close to the vent valve, part 311990b:

I've got a question about my 1998 Isuzu Rodeo LS. I've owned it for about a year and a half and I haven't had any complaints so far. However, about six months ago (you can see how quick I am to get on these things!) the car developed this little quirk. Whenever I get in the car and turn the key the car will try to start up but fails about half the time. It always starts on the second try but only sometimes on the first try. It seems to start easier right after I've filled up and is noticeably worse when I'm close to empty.

No dripping of gas, no puddles... Did a smoke test, no leaks showed up anywhere (according to the mechanic). View 1 RepliesAlmost every time I start my 2001 Ford Focus, it won't start. The starter functions but the engine won't start. I have to pump it, give it gas, and once it starts, it's perfectly fine, no stalling, no problems after that. That is until I turn the engine off. When I go to start it again, say after doing an errand or two, it may or may not happen again throughout the day, the problem only occurring when I attempt to start it.
View 1 RepliesI just changed the fuel pump on my 98 Isuzu Rodeo and now it wont start. The pump is getting power because i can hear it humming. Fuel is getting to the fuel rail, I checked the the shrader valve. I tested the battery and its fully charged but it wont start.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2007 Santa Fe GLS with about 68k. Starter her up this am and smelled a very strong odor of gasoline in the cabin. I check my garage floor and didn't see any leaks. Drove it for a few minutes and the smell went away. What might be causing this?
