Cruise on/off works. Light on the dash. Some days pressing the "set" switch engages immediately. Other days, press it 20 times, nothing. Guessing switch contacts could use some cleaning/replacing. Service manual doesn't address how to pull the switch on the steering wheel...
View 5 RepliesI have a 2003 F250 Super Duty 5.4 crew cab. Cruise light comes on when engaged but does not work. I did some research on why its not working checked wiring at the throttle body it seemed ok, Fuse is ok. Also did the self test and everything passed with just one flash but cruise still does not work. I read about many problems with the brake pressure switch but would it pass the self test if that pressure switch was bad? Also what should a switch cost. Local dealer wanted $125.00 for a new one and I have read where they cost around $15.00 - $20.00.
View 12 RepliesI have an 02 f150 5.4 and since I got it it hasn't had cruse control. I went to a local ford dealership and they ran the vin and didn't find any recall on it. Under the hood on the master cylinder there is brake fluid coming out of the brake control switch. Would I have to do something with the harness too?
View 9 RepliesMy girlfriend and I were riding in her 2007 Camry SE about a week ago on the highway. She pushed the button on the cruise control switch to turn it on, and the button popped out of the end of the stalk (it did not completely come out, but popped out about an inch). She pushed it back in, but it won't turn the cruise on now.
What all is involved in replacing this switch? I was assuming it was as simple as removing the bottom rear cover on the steering wheel and swapping it out, but I wanted to check beforehand.
My wife has a 2009 Camry LE, 4cyl with approximately 63,000 miles on it. Yesterday when driving it, I went to turn the cruise control off and my finger slipped, causing the button to pop out. Both of us have tried to fix it and I know I tried at least three or four different ways to reinstall the little three prong copper piece and no luck. The cruise control still refuses to work.
Having problem with the button popping out and been able to fix it? If so, how did you fix it? I hope it's something simple, such as re-installing the copper piece a certain way.
Ive had my Camry since around September of last year. It had between 100-110k miles at the time of purchase.
In the last 3 months, Ive started to notice that sometimes when I am on the road & switch on the cruise control, the setting appears to have trouble engaging. On some occasions the cruise control does not even switch on at all when I hit the "set" button, while at other times I can feel the setting turn on and off intermittently, while I feel the engine respond accordingly with more or less gas with each time it goes on and off.I can also see the cruise control light on my dashboard begin to flash on and off each time this happens.
This does not happen every time I drive, but I must say Ive never seen anything like this before in any other car Ive ever had, and I find whats happening here to be both very strange as well as very annoying.
I think my cruise control switch is bad. Is there a simple way to remove it without taking of the steering wheel.
View 4 RepliesThe "Cruise Main" switch on my 2003 Honda Accord will not stay engaged. When I push it, the Cuise Main lights up in the dash board and I can operate cruise control, but when I release the Cruise Main switch it doesn't stay on. I've tried electrical tape to hold the switch in (holds for limited time), and am thinking about bypassing the switch altogether. I don't mind if the Cruise Main is on all the time. I know I could replace the switch, but am looking for a zero cost solution.

The cruise control will not work. I found a thread to diagnose the problem. My diagnosis is:
After doing the self test I received: 3 flashes - deactivator switch is open or circuit defective.
What does this represent and what shall I do to correct it?
The cruise control switch on my 2000 Ranger just broke. It looks like you have to remove the airbag to access it. How is that accessed? It looks like there are 2 plugs on the back of the wheel that need to be removed.

View 1 RepliesI have owned this 85 Chevy Van all its life and when I take it on trips I like to use the cruise control. The last few years the cruise engages and works except that it seems to hunt or vary the speed up and down a couple of miles an hour. I replaced the servo figuring that it was just old and leaking vacuum. Well the new one behaved exactly the same. So what else is there? The electronics module? I have looked everywhere under the hood and under the dash with no luck. Manuals don't even include the cruise system. What is the location of the module?
View 5 RepliesI have taken it to 3 different dealer service centers, and everytime they charge me to update the computer software. They still haven't fixed anything, and everytime I leave the dealer after "getting it fixed", within 25 miles the problem reoccurs. According to my owner's manual the electronic throttle control malfunction warning light is only on the Hemi Rams.
The problem causes the truck to jerk, idle improperly, the engine loses power and shuts off at low speeds usually when turning, and sometimes when the truck accelerates after a complete stop, it hesitates causing the tires to screech when it finally builds up enough RPM to move, this last one has caused me several explanations to police officers on why I am "laying rubber" on their city streets, as if the Hemi emblem doesn't attract enough unwanted attention from the local highway law enforcement officers..
The cruise switch on my brake master cylinder is bad and causing the cruise to not work. I have it bypassed with a jumper wire and it works fine. is there any reason not to do this?
View 11 RepliesQuestion regarding a 2002 Dodge Dakota, 2wheel drive ext cab 100,000 miles 6 cylinder engine. Cruise control stopped working, get the indicator light on dash, but no cruise.
Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
I'm at my wit's end trying to install cruise control in my 2009 Corolla. I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
View 9 RepliesI've noticed when driving our 06 GX this winter, that after the traction control engages on ice for example, it leaves the car with about 20% of it's normal power when you hit the gas, like it acts as a fuel shut off or something. It's been potentially dangerous if you aren't ready for it.
We have a had a lot of ice in upper Illinois this winter and I've been blind sided by what happens a few times. The worst is trying to make a left hand turn from an icy street. A lot of our side streets don't get the attention from salt trucks like the main roads do. For example, when making a turn off of an Icy side street, onto a street that has no ice. Wheels slip a bit initially, you hear the Trac kick in, then gimpy mode. After making it off the ice, the car has almost no power to accelerate, even after it's on dry pavement for as long as 10 second or so. Really dangerous when turning into a busy highway. The car just won't go. Then all of a sudden, boom and it's off again like normal. I would think that things should go back to normal on dry pavement pretty quick but the delay is pretty long.
Is this normal? Is there any way to disable the traction control in this situation? It's like the truck shuts the fuel off ( I know some Trac systems work this way). I'm definitely not one that hammers on the gas either, as soon as the tires sense a little slip it seems to go into this gimpy mode. Otherwise, everything else functions as normal.
Started yesterday. Dry road. Brand new Perrelli P4s . at about 60-65 traction control comes on and car starts doing the "surging". I had the same tires on it up to this point so except for being new,no difference.
