Prius V :: Start Up PWR Mode All The Time
Apr 4, 2013
Can the dealer change a setting so that the car starts up in PWR mode, assuming I turned it off when in PWR mode? It seems to work that way for ECO mode, but not PWR mode.

View 2 RepliesStrange question but is there a way to have the engine start up in this mode every time its started?
Just wondering for show purposes trying to make a video, as my GTI has a big ass cam and sounds evil in cold start mode and doesn't have that opportunity as its 90-100 degrees here all the damn time...
I just put an EV button in my 2006, but there is no indication when it is active. No light on the dash, or on the screen. If the EV mode is not available, I do get a message on the screen "you cannot switch to EV mode at this time". Is there supposed to be a light or something?
View 19 RepliesIn a cold weather also noticed the EV mode doesn't stay on for a long time even with a 90% full battery and fully warmed up. The engine starts to kick in randomly.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010, the EV mode ( as you know) takes a certain amount of time before it kicks in, depending on the weather. I do a lot of very short(3 mi) trips.
View 10 RepliesSeveral time lately I've gotten in to go to work and the battery shows for half sometimes 3/4 of charge, but it will not go into EV mode. But I can be in town driving and it will go into EV mode with only 2 bars of charge. Whats up with that.
View 19 RepliesI am having my Prius 2013 for a couple of weeks . what would happen if I'm in EV mode and need to accelerate (through an intersection for example) but the engine doesn't start ?
View 11 RepliesI'm still thinking about buying a 2010 Prius. I'd like to know: Suppose I want to, in the morning, move the car from my usual parking spot to another area of the apt. building's parking lot until I leave for work later on. So I would back up a few feet, then slowly drive about 150 feet (at most) to another parking spot. When I press the Power button, does that automatically start the engine (ICE), or can I move the car all in EV mode?
View 19 RepliesI have a Viper SmartStart and sometimes forget to turn the AC down to LO and leave it in Auto. Is there any way to set the car to always start up with those AC settings?
View 8 RepliesIs there any way to make the power mode default when I start up?
View 3 RepliesA few days ago I noticed when I started the car that both the HV/EV and ECO mode lights were illuminated. What does that mean?
View 8 RepliesWe are having an intermittent issue with car starting up and immediately throwing a CEL, red triangle and going into limp mode. Shutting off the car and restarting it sometimes resolves the issue. I'd love to be able to pull the logs from the car to see what is causing this issue.
View 11 Replies2004 base prius. Cold morning but in the garage, so not frightfully cold. Teens in the garage?
Went to start, and the whole car shook. My reaction was to push on the gas pedal (old habits die hard) and in a second or less it smoothed out. It seemed to have more to do with the start cycle than the actual engine running.
Is there to keep the car on an particular mode all the time? I prefer driving on Sport mode but everytime I restart the car; it defaults to normal mode.
View 2 RepliesI have noticed that when driving in EV mode when the car switches over to HV mode the Eco icon always lights up! Of course you can select Eco, or Power mode manually, but when it does this automatically, after the EV battery charge is used up, it keeps showing the Eco icon being lite not HV.
View 1 RepliesMy AC always defaults to Recirculation mode the first time I use it after starting the car even though Auto mode is off.
Can I change this to default to fresh air mode?
This morning I was playing around with my 2010 Prius "B" mode - I realize today that when the Prius CVT is in "B" mode the Prius ICE won't turn off even when it is at a complete stop -- instead the ICE runs/idles at a 996 RPM / .20-.40 GPH while stopped in traffic. The coolant temperature (@190F ) doesn't matter, Battery State of Charge (54% soc) doesn't matter. To re-enable the stop-start idle technology - I had to switch the Prius CVT back to "D" mode. I end up burning a bit more fuel on this trip because it took me a while to realize that I was in "B" mode and that the stop start idle technology had disabled in the "B" mode ...
View 4 RepliesI have a concern about my 2010 Prius V(five). I've noticed some issues lately that may all tie in to one big problem.
1. My ev mode will not work at all. My battery will be fully charged and not in "B" mode. Turning car off and on will not work.
2. Engine will not turn off when coming to stops. Mind you when the battery is above 3 lines.
3. Throttle response feels like it's in PWR mode(super sensitive) but the engine is leggy. If I floor it for a sec the RPMS are super slow to come down.
4. The Eco line is quick to go in PWR portion and I'm not pushing it any harder than I was before all of this started. It seems like when I push the gas it skips the electric and automatically pulls from the engine.
I was on vacation during march first week and my 2006 prius didnt start after that. I do not have the smart key with me and have only the manual key. I just called the Toyota as it is a certified vehicle, they tried jump starting but it did not work. Does the car needs the Smartkey to be inserted in the fob? I have it in my city where i live 200miles away. (parked car in my friends place). If it does not need smart key in fob, does the 12v battery is dead?
View 5 RepliesWent out to start my car today it had a rough time cranking over and when It started had a cel and in limp mode.
View 8 RepliesI drive a 2012 Camry SE. Since last few days the head lights in my car remain on even during day time when kept on auto mode. I need to manually turn off the lights in day.
