I have a 2013 Prius v and wanted to know how to disable to the Nav lock while the car is in motion. I want to make it so that my passengers could use it while I am driving.
View 3 RepliesOn my '88 Ranger, there is the key lock that needs to be pressed to remove the key. When I changed the ignition cylinder, I darn near went ahead and removed it. I though I better check here first, and see if I was going to disable some other function I don't know about.
View 1 RepliesI do not have the Nav/JBL head unit, just the basic Gen III Prius II head unit, and would like to disable the speed sensor lock capability of the unit, like others have done with the Nav units.
If there is a plug-n-play defeat/bypass kit for this HU? There are some "fuel efficiency" windows in the HU, would I loose any of these functions/displays with such a bypass?
Can I disable the power lock on my Saturn SL1? Its locking and unlocking the front doors all by itself, draining the battery no doubt. Can I pull a fuse? If so, how find the right one?
View 3 RepliesIs it possible to disable the auto lock feature after time-out? I am not referring to the auto locks after driving 15kph. I am referring to when you unlock the doors with the remote and then don't open any of the doors for a minute or two. If you do not "wake" the car by opening it, the doors automatically lock again.
This is my most hated feature. There will be times when I unlock the door from the house and walk out to the car to get something. If I don't open a door within 1 minute, its locked again. Now I just have to carry the key for the most trivial things. Is this a menu option or a vag option?
How to disable or completely take out the steering wheel lock. The part where the gear goes into the disk to lock the steering wheel into place. I heard it was simple and yes I have been looking around but I still can't seem to figure it out.
View 10 RepliesThe doors & trunk will auto lock @10mph and will not auto unlock when car is stopped. This is very inconvenient. When I buy groceries then try to open the trunk when I get home, I always have to unlock the trunk before I can open it.
My dealer told me they cannot reprogram it. The older model has an option on the MFC but not ours.
I just picked up a 2013 Tiguan 4motion. The doors lock after a few yards of driving. Can I disable this 'feature'? I've had other German cars do this but it was always easy to find in the user manual how to override the default.

On my previous Nissan Altima, you can toggle this feature by pressing the lock+unlock simultaneously. I tried that on the Corolla, it does not work.
Can I disable the automatic door lock mechanism? Maybe pull a fuse? All of a sudden the locks start locking and unlocking over and over and the lights dim. I would like to disable the automatic and use the key to lock and unlock the doors. It is a 2002, F-250-Super Duty 4x4 SuperCab.
View 5 RepliesI noticed as soon as the c is in motion the bluetooth menu is not accessible. I'm sure this is a safety measure, but this has become a huge inconvenience for us. A lot of the times my wife needs to switch from iPod to phone during the trip.
View 14 RepliesWas driving today on the highway at about 50mph and suddenly noted jerky motion. Kept the right foot steady, but it seemed like extra power was being delivered and then cut off every few seconds. The MPH monitor was jumping all over the place with the jerking motions, as was the HSI power scale indicator. The jerking was not terrible, but noticeable.
Got home safe, no issues otherwise. Only noted while cruising on the highway. No issues driving in the city.
I am in the midwest and the temp yesterday was -11F and today about 0F. Did not a problem yesterday, but then again was not able to drive at 50mph on the highway due to snow until today.
First, I wish the car could use the passenger air bag sensor to know their is a passenger and allow nav system to have full function.
View 11 RepliesI am on my 3rd set of wiper blades trying to get rid of the skipping motion. I did not notice this problem with original. I bought one set at Autozone that skipped, went back and bought an expensive pair of blades, they skipped.
I bought the best wipers t, they skipped.
I just went to the dealer and got a pair of blades, they skip just as bad as all the others I've tried.
I have tried cleaning the windshield, This last time I used clay bar on the windshield but that made it worst. It would skip after each swipe after I used clay bar.
The last thing I done was use some waterless wash on windshield that has it temporally stopped skipping. The wipers run smooth so there is not a problem with any jerking or motion or anything like that.
I have 115K on 2011 Prius, not had a minute trouble out of it except for this skipping. I also have about 65K mile on this set of Michelin Energy saver A/S tires, they will go another 10K. I'm averaging 51 mpg Summer and Winter.
Does the Prius' TPMS employ a sleep mode to conserve battery? I.e., stop transmitting when the wheels are not in motion.
View 11 RepliesRecently, I've been having issues with my door locks. When exiting the car, and pressing the door lock on the outside handle, I would here the door lock solenoid fire once, then open, and the door would not lock. Same thing would happen when I used the FOB. The door would not lock. On occasion, I would get the door to lock, and stay locked by using the door lock inside the car when the door was open.
On the occasions when I did get the door locked, I then had issues unlocking. If I approached the drivers door to unlock the door, the car would just keep repeatedly beeping, and would not unlock the drivers door. But, the back door would unlock, so I could reach in, and open the drivers door from the back.
I have a 2010 Prius with about 51,000 miles on it. About a month ago the front passenger lock actuator began failing and wouldn't lock/unlock with the remote. I had to manually slide the lock shut before I exited the car or it would keep beeping when I pressed the lock button on the remote.
Well, now the driver's side door is doing the same thing. When I touch the front door handle (to unlock the doors) it beeps like 8 times while it tries to unlock all four doors. I have to open the back drivers-side door and manually unlock the front door so I can drive the car.
My passenger rear lock is no longer lock/unlocking via power. I had an issue with the driver front, but it was replaced under warranty. Since it's a 2007, it's certainly no longer under warranty.
View 12 RepliesMy 2007 Prius (151,000 miles) just started making what sounds like a scraping sound when in motion. This does not happen every time I drive it. The dealership said I need to replace the brake fluid actuator pump.
He couldn't really tell me what would happen if I don't have it fixed. He said perhaps the power brakes would go out, or maybe the anti-lock brake system. Either way, I don't want to mess with possible brake failure. But the cost of this repair is so high, and my car already has 151,000 miles. I'd love to drive it to 300,000 miles if I can, but am I being realistic? I'm wondering if it's worth investing this much money in a car with so many miles.
