My Prius v fan for the heat started this low bass sound when it is turned up. It seems that it causes the vehicle to race! If I shut the heat fan off while parked, the vehicles takes a few seconds to return to "normal".

View 11 RepliesWhen there is any degree of bass in my sound system (JBL), the driver's side door vibrates or rattles. If I push against the handle with the controls on it very hard, I can dampen the sound to where it's (almost) nonexistent.
View 7 RepliesI've got a 2004 Cavalier and when the heater is turned on it makes a clicking noise (sounds like someone on a snare drum playing over and over again) You can feel it if you touch the bottom of the Heater/AC module on the passenger side of the car above your feet. It stops when you turn the heater control to the recirculation position.
My guess is it's the recirculation door actuator motor, but I can't find it through NAPA or any automotive parts online sites, what the Chevy part number is for this, and/or a parts blowup of the HVAC module? Also, the factory service manual I've got says that the entire HVAC unit needs to be drained of 134 and removed from the vehicle to replace this actuator, does it can be done without removing the entire unit? From the few pictures it shows of where the actuator is, that part appears to be near the top (that's why I'd like to see a parts blowup if possible).
2009 corolla bought in early 08's so car just about 5 years old. This morning when I turned the heat on I heard a ticking noise. I'm assuming it is the from the heater blower motor? I think the part is behind the glove box. Where is the best place to get the part and where is the best place to find how to do the install?
View 4 RepliesConfirmed it today. Not hearing things. A very low bass like hum when the car goes over 80. Wind noise of transmission binding. What the transmission binding sounds like? Would it happen if the car was just going straight ahead with no turns?
View 5 RepliesI have added a set of 10" subwoofers and tapped into the rear speakers to get the signal. Everything worked fine for about a month, then it started to make a loud subwoofer sound during start up, regardless of if the stereo was on or not. The amp manufacturer and the place who sold me everything said that maybe it's a noise cancelling issue with the cabin mics. Could this be true? If so, where are they located to disconnect them, are there any ways to disable them, or, would that sound still occur if I used the signal into the amp from either the fronts or the factory sub instead of the rear speakers?

View 14 RepliesOn the way to work this morning in stop-and-go traffic, I noticed a new, weird noise from my week-old 2012 GTI with less than 500 miles on it.
The noise happens when letting of the gas in gear. Doesn't matter what gear you're in or what the engine speed is. Around a second after getting of the gas, there is a loud, depp bass thump, almost like a subwoofer hit from a close-by car. That's what I originally thought it was, but later determined it's something from my car.
What it could be? An exhaust noise? Something hitting? Is this a common noise on the new GTIs?
I have a 2007 Lexus GS 350 with the Mark Levinson audio system. I am starting to hear a sound from the passenger side door speaker like a rattling when there is low bass in a song. I wanted to know much it should cost me to have all the speakers replaced to higher quality ones.
I don't need crazy bass that will make my windows shatter, however currently these speakers feel like if I put any hip hop or dubstep on more speakers will blow. I do NOT want to have to cut any part of my car to install new speakers, I am not comfortable with someone cutting holes or making bigger holes to fix the new speakers.

My car runs fine on city speeds. I noticed this last week when I get on the highway, in between 60 & 65 MPH, I can hear a "deep" (kind of sounds like added bass) sound. It goes away when I go past 65, but the "driving sound" (no music, no a/c running) just doesn't sound as smooth as it did before I hit the 60-65 range. I get the noise again when I decelerate and pass through that range. My car does not display a Check Engine Light when this happens.
After getting my passenger speaker replaced for that gurgly, horrible noise that comes out during deep bass notes. it went away. IT HAS COME BACK NOW TEN FOLD! on both sides of my car, and has been happening every morning! it was very upsetting to come back to after being away for two weeks.

View 12 RepliesI can hardly hear the bass on my new 2013 Prius 4, which replaced my lease of 2010 Prius 3 with Navi . both had their DSP setting at default balanced position. I thought it was because I got the base trim 4 with no addition, but my friend who just went from 2010 Prius 5 with Navi to 2013 Prius 5 with those whistle and bells felt the same on his new car.
View 8 RepliesDriving what was my wife's 2008 Prius, and for the most part the sound is adequate but I have a bass rattle in the doors and I'm wondering what's the best way to resolve it.
My source is my iPhone 6 via a Bluetooth add-on, and for the most part it is fine if i leave the iPhone volume level at Max minus 2-3 bars. But if the song is bass heavy and I have the JBL volume high, there is quite a bit of rattling vibration on the door (rattling panels, etc.), on all the doors.
Q: Is this something that can be resolved by adding a sub and rolling off the bass for the JBL speakers? Or does resolving it require more a sound deadening at the doors?
Now that it's cold, my heater fan has been squeaking/humming when I first turn the car on. After it warms up a bit, it stops making noise. I assume the fan just needs to be lubed? The only thing that I've found that fixes the noise is turning the music up louder.

View 2 RepliesWas about three blocks from home when the front of the car started making a horrific metallic scraping sound as the front wheel turned. I mean LOUD. Did a quick look for something stuck in the wheels somewhere but nothing. It's not like a branch stuck in the wheel sound, but scraping a shovel on a steel beam kind of sound. Braking seems to change the makeup of the sound, but did not stop it. Parked it in the garage.
I pulled the left wheel off, looked and looked, and looked. Nothing. Fear and sadness setting in. Everything looked normal....except....a faint line on the rotor very near the inside edge. Got a mirror and looked some more, and there, wedged on the inside edge of the pad's metal part and the rotor, was a rock the size of a bb. At most. Got a small screwdriver and hammer and popped it out. Done. Sheesh.
Seriously it was so loud it was amazing. So store in file folder for future reference if needed.
The line can be felt barely with a fingernail and is half the width of a pencil lead, and goes under the innermost 1/8" of the pad. I'm thinking do I want the dealer to pull and turn it, or is it going to affect my braking at all. Pretty much gonna leave it be I think.
What is that noise the Prius makes after it is shut down? I'm sure it is suppose to do what it is suppose to do, I'm just curious what the noise is.

View 3 RepliesPurchased 2011 Prius 2 with 108500 miles on 4/29/2015. Didn't fully check all climate control settings and fan speeds. Two days later, car had vibration and rumbling sound which was increasingly severe on three highest climate control fan speeds in all modes (e.g. AC, heat, auto, manual, etc.). Sounded like a quiet lawnmower on highest fan speed. Was quiet on three lowest fan speeds. Glove box and passenger side dash vibrated in sync with noise.
Cabin air filter had been replaced by a large Toyota Dealer as part of pre-sale prep. I suspected filter was not installed properly. Removed glove box and filter, which had been properly installed. Vibration/noise were same when fan was operated without filter or glove box installed.
Felt around inside of fan housing. There was debris, including seven pieces of acorn shell (see image below). The concave sections of the shells were firmly wedged in the fins of the squirrel cage (no pun intended!) impeller. Cleaned out all nuts and debris, reassembled, fan operated quietly without vibration at all fan speeds.
The shells essentially unbalanced the impeller and induced vibration at high fan speeds, just like an unbalanced wheel would induce shimmy or vibration at freeway speeds. What is baffling is how the debris and acorn shells this large got past the filter. Filter fit on the right side is pretty good since a plastic flange goes between the pleats. The left side appears to have a looser fit with some gaps.
