My bride's 2013 v5 is flashing "Maintenance Required" at a little over 4600 miles. Way too early for the recommended 10K oil change (though we will probably do the first change at 5K)...

It just went to the dealer at 4,200 mi for an "early" oil change (I had wanted an early oil change done, and the the dealer said it wasn't required til 10,000 miles). So no new oil.
It's about 7 months old, and mostly driven on short trips - our other car is used for the long trips. Tires were rotated @ last service.
Does it actually want an oil change? I'd take it to the dealer, but their next appointment is 2 weeks out.
My "Maintenance Required" light on the dash is flashing 4-5-6 times when I start up the Prius every time, why?...
I went through all of my Maintenance menu items and most of them arent set to begin with, but the ones that ARE set, still have 4000+ miles til the next service...
I have a 2010 Prius that I bought used this past Fall (2013). I have only had the oil changed once and it was at the local Toyota dealer. The service adviser told me the interval was 10k miles however, the "Oil Maintenance Required" notification is flashing on my dash at only 5k miles since the last change.
Is this a standard preset notification that trips automatically at 5k miles or does the computer measure the quality of the oil and it is telling me that the oil is shot and I need to change it now?!?
Set up the free oil change for next week (10,600 on the odometer) and was wondering if this is an automatic light just based on mileage. Prior owner got a free 5,000 mile oil change and selling dealer changed the oil at 5,800 when we bought it.
But I guess if there's a reset somewhere that neither prior dealer took the time to do the car thinks it's time for it's first change. This is a 2014.5 SE Sport put in service July of 2014.
I have a 2002 Honda accord SE. It has about 194,850ish miles on her. The maintenance required light starts to flash when I turn on the car and then the light stops flashing after a bit. What it means?
I checked for any codes and there's nothing. My oil is a bit low, but not at the marker. My next due for an oil change says 195,300ish. I've never seen it flash before.
My daughter has a 2011 corolla and when she first cranks the car the maintenance required light flashes a couple of times and goes out. I think last time I changed her oil, it was steady on. What is causing it to flash?

View 16 RepliesChanged the engine oil last weekend at the in-laws' house. 800 miles later (they live 600 miles away, memorial day weekend getaway) today the Maint Req'd light came on. I checked the service manual and just as I suspected it said to replace the engine oil.

View 2 RepliesI am just out of the dealer service period (2 years, 25000m). I took my Prius -v (3) 2012 to my mechanic. He did the oil and filter change, but could not reset the Maint Reqd light. It seems it is different from the regular Prius. I looked on the forum, and tried the suggestions, but none worked. It was supposed to be (with odometer showing).
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode. The multi-information displays initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→P. 186) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time. I tried doing this both with my foot on the break and off, but all I got was a reset trip.
Got 14 Prius V back from first maintenance today and noticed the mechanic forgot to reset the light. So I called my advisor and she told me what to do. Here is process for others to share:
1. Set odo/trip to Trip A
2. Turn off vehicle
3. Hold down mi/hr-km/hr button on dash
4. While holding down button, turn on vehicle to ON state (Press Power button TWICE, but DO NOT press brake pedal - you don't want engine to start)
5. Wait while Maint Req light flashes, then goes off completely - about 4 seconds.
6. Turn off vehicle.
My maintenance light started flashing @ the 4500 mile mark so I checked the oil and was half a qt low. I was a bit surprised. I was not at any type of incline and I drive pretty light. Def don't drive hard. Normal or no?

View 8 RepliesI'm still trying to get a manual for my recently acquired 2004 Prius, so I can't trace down what this means....
When I start the car, recently, a "Maint Required" light comes on and flashes about three or four times, then goes away. This is after all the other dash lights during the test phase go out. When I took it to have the codes read, the device said "No Codes" stored.
What does this mean? And is it a serious problem?
Just hit 180k in my 2000 V10, 2wd last week. That means that within the next 1-2 years, I'll be hitting 200k. I have heard that some bigger maintenance may be required around then, like a transmission rebuild. Some posts I've read say that it's fairly unpredictable and pretty dependent on regular maintenance over the life of the truck.
I've only had the truck for a year, and supposedly the previous owner kept up with regular maintenance. I've done a lot of work on the suspension: coils, shocks, ball joints (twice), tie rods, and brakes/rotors. Is there anything that commonly needs replaced on the engine, or axles, etc.? Just trying to look toward the future so I can get as many miles out of my truck as possible.
I am out of town and did the 15K maintenance. Garage tech did not eliminate this message. I do not have my manual here. 2013 RX350 ... steps to eliminate this message...
View 2 RepliesI noticed this message today. I just had my 10k checkup at the dealership maybe a month and half ago. When I checked the dashboard info, I saw the tire rotation icon red. I reset this and reset the warning message too. I will be changing the tires soon.
