I came downstairs to my Prius v with my kids and our laundry to find a completely dead car. I couldn't open the trunk. Luckily the doors were already unlocked. The power button doesn't work at all. No lights no nothing. It is DEAD. Is it possible the battery discharged and I need a jump? Or is this more serious and I need to get it towed to the dealer?

View 8 RepliesMy 2014 camry won't start. I put my key in the ignition and the dash lights come on and blinks once and won't start. The brake pedal won't depress and the steering wheel stays stiff.
I was messing with my sound system the day before and now the car won't start. I've check the battery and it's good and has juice. I've checked all the fuses and relays seem to be fine. Everything work on the car it just won't start.
These cars have a main relay or something with the ignition switch?
My 2012 Prius v dashboard lights no longer are turning on. They light up at initial start-up, but then all but a few icons on the far left and far right of the screen go out. This happened right after I played with the heat / AC controls.

View 6 RepliesMy Toyota Corolla has 210,000. The check engine and air bag lights are on and my mechanic has explained that the issue with the check engine light can not be fixed. Therefore, the car will not pass its next State inspection. I wish I could wait for the late 2014 re-design of the Toyota Corolla wagon but it looks like I can't.
I need a hatchback this time. I am a Realtor and have to shlep a lot of signs. I also have to have space for my father's wheel chair. Further, I have to clean out 50 years worth of stuff from his house. The regular compact hatchbacks (Focus, Matrix, Impreza), etc. do not have enough space. This is the only reason I am deciding between two much bigger vehicles (the Prius V and the Honda CRV).
I would definitely lean towards the Prius V because of the 16 mpg difference in its favor but have CONTINUOUSLY heard that it is very unstable in heavy rain and snow.
Having some trouble turning on fog lights with main head lights at the same time. Is this possible and how do I do this.
View 4 RepliesJust last night, I stopped to pick up my daughter and had to wait for 10 minutes or so, so left the parking lights on and put it into park. When we began to leave later, I noticed that there was no HSI or Speedometer showing when I turned the lights on (to include parking lights). I turned it off and on again, hoping that would take care of it. It did not. I put it through a charge cycle, still no change.

Thought I might have pressed the hazard lights button , so of course I press the button into the lower position and the lights are still on .. Then I press the button again into the raised position and put the car into drive and now the hazard lights start to blink faster as I accelerate ( now my Prius Became a police cruiser ) it's obvious I have a short some where , or the relay went bad . If it's the relay, where can I find the relay in the car? Looked in both fuse boxes and I couldn't find it . I've since pulled the fuse on the hazard/ signal lights. I'd rather try to fix this my self before I have to pay Toyota to rob me blind .

It's not referenced in the manuals, but I've noticed that whenever I'm in the car, it's on the entire time unless I switch my lights to DRL Off mode. When I get out and lock the doors, I think it goes off... but I'm also thinking it may have been the cause of my recent 12V battery drain.
View 13 RepliesJust got the 2012 Prius in June and have put around 12,500 miles on it. I have loved the car so much but last Wednesday night I came out of work and the car would not start. Thinking maybe it was just the 12v battery I called Toyota care. After attempting to have it jumped it still would not start. It was towed to the dealership located in Carlstadt, NJ. It has been over a week now and they still have not been able to fix it! They say they have run a diagnostic test on it and nothing comes back fine but they still can’t get it on. They say they are now testing each wire individually.
View 6 RepliesOn a couple/few occasions, my 2012 Prius II has started rapping at start up. The motor will turn on but as soon as the gas motor kicks on there is a pronounced rapping noise emanating from it. It only lasts for a couple of seconds and then stops. It did it once after having sat for about a week but now it did it after sitting for about a day and a half.

after a cold soak, the gas engine starts, but its very shaky, almost like a miss-fire. And at about 10-20mph when you go to accelerate lightly, to make the gas engine start, it starts vibrating again. but if you give it more gas, it smoothens out. Still sounds like a misfire to me...
But, there are no codes.
The dealer replaced all 4 injectors, performed a throttle body service, and an EFI Service, includes, fuel system cleaning, tank additive.
they told me the injectors for #1 and # 2 where not performing correctly and that they needed to be replaced. after opening a case with the infamous TAS (Toyota tech support)..
A few seconds after the PiP is turned on and I start moving, it gives a little beep.
It's not the doors locking because that happens a few seconds later when I speed up.

Sometimes, if the AC has just been running, it will come back on in just 2-3 seconds.
My 4 month old Prius 2010 is not starting since this morning. My wife drives the Prius and when she tried to start it this morning, it would not start. The MFD lights up and all the symbols stay lighted rather than turning off. My wife tried it 5-6 times, but to no avail. She tried to start the car this afternoon and the same problem. I only had this car for 4 months and i cannot understand what is happening. To be clear, my wife drives this car regularly to take my son to school and various other activities. This is the first time that we have this issue and i was just wondering if the 12v battery is the issue.
View 19 RepliesOI have a 2005 Toyota Prius and it won't start.l I went to go warm it up so I could get ready to leave the house,I grabbed my keys and it beeped once I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button all my lights went on and after that pretty much froze and I could not turn the car off nor shift to reverse or drive. It snowed Sunday I did not drive my car Monday.

An engine start will reset that mileage back to zero and start recounting its EV miles until that limit is reached again. What is that limit?
View 19 RepliesAfter about a min once bluetooth connects it fails. In setup under bluetooth it says it's off and pushing it does nothing. My phone shows bluetooth on and still paired. If I was talking to someone call does not get dropped but I have to pick up my phone and turn off bluetooth so I can hear them on phone speaker.
