Smart key fobs do not work in touch mode.
Replaced batteries in both fobs.
Both fobs start the car and lock,unlock and alarm sounds when buttons pushed.
BUT... touching the lock slot on the door or trying to unlock the door by touch does not work.
I have read somewhere on here that you can reprogram your car so that when you touch the driver door handle to unlock, it unlocks all the doors. Can't find the thread now & can't find it in the manual. Looking for instructions how to do this or page number of the manual?
View 2 RepliesThe dealershhip told me my 12volt battery may be dead. the symptoms are the car has now power and the key fobs do not work. I tried jump starting last night. The first time I hooked up jumper cables up my alarm started going off. I lost connection and reconnected and only the orange light came on on the power button, and check engine light came on and green light came on on park button.
View 17 Replies'05 Prius "smart" key does not work in the auto - open, lock, start, etc mode. Is this a battery problem? The actual key when pulled out of the case, of course unlocks the doors and will start the car when in its case.
View 2 RepliesI've got a 2007 Prius and the buttons on one of the smart keys no longer works. With the key in hand, I can touch the door handle and the door will unlock. I can also turn the car on without placing the SKS in the slot. However the lock/unlock/emergency buttons don't work. Everything works fine on my other SKS so I don't believe it's something with the car. I've also checked the KEY button below the steering wheel - it's out.
I've just changed the batteries on the broken SKS. Even going as far as pulling the battery out of the completely functional SKS and putting it into the broken SKS. Still, the three buttons don't work.
I have a Prius i-Tech 2007. I had gone overseas and came back after 2 weeks. On return, the smart key just didn't work. It didn't open the door...I took out the mechanical key and opened the door. Then I inserted the key in the key slot and tried to start the car but it just didn't react at all.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2009 Prius with 65,000 miles and have recently noticed sensitivity trouble with the touch screen. At times it will not react to my button presses and other times if I touch one part of the screen the touch will be registered in another area of the screen. Usually I turn the screen off (if I am able to get the touch of the off button to register) and restart later.
View 9 RepliesI have a concern about my 2010 Prius V(five). I've noticed some issues lately that may all tie in to one big problem.
1. My ev mode will not work at all. My battery will be fully charged and not in "B" mode. Turning car off and on will not work.
2. Engine will not turn off when coming to stops. Mind you when the battery is above 3 lines.
3. Throttle response feels like it's in PWR mode(super sensitive) but the engine is leggy. If I floor it for a sec the RPMS are super slow to come down.
4. The Eco line is quick to go in PWR portion and I'm not pushing it any harder than I was before all of this started. It seems like when I push the gas it skips the electric and automatically pulls from the engine.
I had my 07 prius detailed today and it looks real nice BUT, I started it up afterwards and the touchscreen was in diagnostic mode and the warning lights on the dash were acting up. The warning lights seem to be OK now except that the tire pressure indicator flickers like it is partially shorted. The issue with the touch screen is that it alternates every 10-15 seconds between diagnostic mode and the regular display but only when the ICE is running. If I am just sitting in shutdown idle ( like at a stop light) it behaves fine.
View 8 RepliesI have noticed that when driving in EV mode when the car switches over to HV mode the Eco icon always lights up! Of course you can select Eco, or Power mode manually, but when it does this automatically, after the EV battery charge is used up, it keeps showing the Eco icon being lite not HV.

View 6 RepliesI have an 01 F150 SuperCrew with factory keyless entry fobs. I would like to be able to leave my truck running, take the keyless entry fob with me, and then lock the doors. Currently, the keyless entry fobs are disabled when the truck is running and I'd be locked out of the truck. I've had newer Fords that would allow the fobs to stay active with the vehicle running. Do this can be programmed into the truck?
View 5 RepliesI've noticed that my new Prius Plug In won't always lock and unlock using the touch sensor on the door handle. The manual states that when this occurs to use two fingers and touch both the top and bottom of the handle at the same time. This does not work either.
Problem seems to occur when in busy shopping center parking lots where other vehicles have similar systems? Once the car is back in my driveway or in the parking lot at work, the sensor works fine.
Could it have something to do with RF interference in the immediate area of my car? Is this a latent 'security feature' not really addressed in the manual?
The drivers side and passenger side doors will not unlock using my key fobs, nor by touching the door handles. The only thing that happens when I touch the front passenger door handle is that the back doors will unlock. I have to enter my car through the back doors, and unlock the front doors manually. Also, by touching the passenger door handle, I get a series of beeps (3-5). What may be causing this, and how to fix it?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 F350 with a 6.4 Powerstroke diesel engine that just experienced total engine failure. It has around 65K miles.
There is a heavy burn star pattern on all 8 pistons, a few pistons are cracked, a few cylinder walls are scored, glow plugs are melted, both heads are cracked with multiple stress fractures in each head.
About 1 month previously, the transmission would not work in tow mode and caused the engine to go into limp home mode. The dealership just replaced the entire tranny as a warranty item. About 1 week before the engine failure, I put in a 5.25 oz bottle of Lucas injector cleaner with a full tank of gas.
The Ford dealership is saying that the star pattern on all 8 pistons is due to high pressure fuel overspray and is evidence that I had a tuner on this engine and that the warranty is invalid. I did not have a tuner. What might have caused this engine failure?
Also, they only ripped down the top half of the motor, not the bottom half. I heard this might have been caused by a cracked crank shaft, but Ford refuses to investigate this possibility.
So my battery died today and I had to take it out to to buy another. Once I replaced the battery I noticed that my one touch window up and down doesnt work. Unless I'm not remembering this but I'm pretty sure all four windows were one touch, now only the passenger side works...
Can verify that its suppose to be one touch for all four?
My girlfriend has a 2006 prius with two fobs, one fob works just fine opens/closes doors and red led illuminates, the other fob does not; I have replaced the cr 2032 battery, and verified that the battery works with a voltmeter. no battery energizes this fob as determined by depressing the membrane switches and NOT seeing any red led illumination. I could possibly fix the circuit if I could separate the two plastic housings.
View 8 RepliesThis morning I was playing around with my 2010 Prius "B" mode - I realize today that when the Prius CVT is in "B" mode the Prius ICE won't turn off even when it is at a complete stop -- instead the ICE runs/idles at a 996 RPM / .20-.40 GPH while stopped in traffic. The coolant temperature (@190F ) doesn't matter, Battery State of Charge (54% soc) doesn't matter. To re-enable the stop-start idle technology - I had to switch the Prius CVT back to "D" mode. I end up burning a bit more fuel on this trip because it took me a while to realize that I was in "B" mode and that the stop start idle technology had disabled in the "B" mode ...

I'm trying to determine how short of a commute I would need to have to not use gas while still driving normally and not giving up climate control use.
My 2012 Camry SE V6 has the smart key system and push button start. When I start the car, how can I lock it from the outside with the smart key on my person, to let it warm up? Or is the only option to use the manual lock/unlock buttons on the armrest to lock it and then close the door?
