I just want to circualate air. Everytime, I increase the speed of the fans, automatic temperature control kicked in. What is the proper way to bypass Temp control (no heat or AC)?
View 14 RepliesI've had my PiP a month now. When ave temps were in the 30's EV range read 12.4 and I usually got an extra mile on my drives. With warming temps I was getting a read of 12.8 lately and 13.0 for the first time this morning. Thats with daytime temps of 60 but overnight it was still just upper 30's.
View 19 RepliesDoes the outside air temp make the engine come on to warm up even if everything else favors all electric mode? If so then at what temp does this happen?
I'm asking because there have been a couple of times that the engine came on right after start-up with a full charge and the climate control was not calling for heat.
I ran about 2 miles on EV then switched to HV 1/2 mile before getting on the freeway. After about 3miles red temp light came on Outside air temp was about 65. I was on a 2 mile long single lane transition so I was unable to get off the freeway. I slowed down to about 60mph from 70mph the light went off. The light was on for about 2min.
I got off the freeway and opened the hood. The coolant had over flowed puking coolant all over my clean engine. I was able to run EV to dealer to check. My guess was a stuck thermostat! Dealer just called me and after calling manufacture to discuss the the error codes and my symptoms, there best guess was a stuck thermostat.
So at 3 months and 4700 miles on the OD my car threw an over temp indicator driving to work. 5:30 am about 60-65 degrees with a passenger driving over the Santa Susana grade which is a 2 1/2 or so mile grade it starts showing the over temp indicator.
I had not plugged in the night before and had only been in the car for about 7 minutes. I was driving somewhere around 70 miles an hour and that ICE was screaming like it always does. As I backed off the throttle the lamp went out and I cruised it to work. I checked under the hood at work and sure enough it had spewed coolant around the pressurized coolant tank.
I've found it difficult trying to turn on the climate control in EV mode without engaging the ICE, especially on sunny mornings where it might be relatively cool outside (about 16-18 C/60-65 F) but the cabin is heating up quickly. I usually have it set to around 20-23 C (68-73 F) but usually in these conditions the ICE will start immediately after turning on the fans (AC off). How to avoid this? Or do I just need to set the climate control to "Lo" at the end of my previous journey? I've never been able to turn down the temperature quickly enough after turning it on without the ICE starting.
View 5 RepliesI've looked in the mounds of user manuals as well as searching here but can't find the answer to this question: How do you keep the EV screen showing on the upper dash after turning on radar cruise control? Even if I switch back to any of the EV screens the dang radar ready or the active radar screen takes over no matter how many times I go back to the EV screens. I have already set the option in setup to not automatically return to the previous screen on the 7" HDD screen.
View 8 RepliesI found this issue today after using my PIP for about a month. Front driver side's windows switch can not open/close the rear windows ( With un-lock button depressed), It can control front passenger side windows.

View 8 RepliesI have had the traction light come on twice when at a stop light. Once was when I was reaching back to give my daughter her juice that was in the front cup holder. The other time I was trying to get something out of my pocket to give to someone in the car.
View 11 RepliesAfter my 25k service it seems the timer scheduler when the square button is pressed/held flashes at 7am. When i press the H button the hour advances to 12am then closes. I want to start the charge at 12am and finish at 5AM. The timer windows closes when i move the finish hour to 12am and then my regular clock hour changes. It used to be when i pressed/held the timer button the start time would show at 12 am and after setting it would go to the finish hour.

View 5 RepliesI have a 99 B5 and the lights for the Heater Temp Knob, the AC/ heater Fan Knob and the blower direction knob are all out. The fuses are OK. I have checked that.

I tried to cut out a ipad screen protector but it looks terribly sloppy! I would buy one if I could find one that fit the Prius specifically.....
View 12 RepliesI have a 2004 freestar that cooling fans come on when engine gets to temp but not when I turn on ac it has 5 relays for the cooling fans and they run in series and a dropping resistor. Ithink someone replaced #2 relay with the wrong one and has caused my problem because they did not know what they were doing...
View 3 RepliesThe buttons to change the temperature in my 2010 Prius don't do a thing... The temperature is cool-ish as long as you have the AC turned on, and stays the exact same as you increase the temperature until you get to 85 and it maxes out, then it starts to get warm. As soon as you go to 84, it's cool again.
View 14 RepliesOn longer trips, over 20+ minutes that the interior temp does not hold the current set climate control temp? If using sync on both sides, the temp in the cabin seems to creep down and you have to keep upping the setting and then reduce it because its too hot.
We have an older 2001 Infiniti I30 and it keeps adjusting to hold the right temp.
I am about to finish up my graduate studies here in Ohio, after which, my wife and I will be headed back to California. We are in desperate need of a second car, but have decided to wait until we move to get one. My wonderful in laws have said that they are willing to split the cost of a new car with us. With that said, we have already decided that we want to get a Prius, but we can't decide which one. We both really like the V. We love how roomy the car is. This is very important to us because we are going to start a family soon. However, we also like the regular Prius and the PiP. I really like the PiP but am a little concerned about the new batteries, and I am not sure that I want to pay the early adapter premium assuming one is even available. But, only paying half for a PiP sounds rather tempting. Considering all that I just said, if you were in my shoes what car would you get and why?

View 2 RepliesNew to the Prius family. Bought a 2014 PIP advanced last week strictly as an economic play. Am noob when it comes to driving techniques, currently average 72 mpg on 90 mi. trips with one charge, so doing better than I expected. I did read up on the Pulse and Glide techniques for the standard Prius and the 'verification' of the glide portion for those is the lack of any power arrows emanating from either the ICS , MG2 or battery on the MID. I have been unable to replicate this on the PIP. In other words, when I am 'gliding' on my PIP, the ICS is off but there always seems to be a green charge indicator flowing back to the batteries from the front wheels.
Keep in mind, my foot is on the accelerator slightly, there is no 'white' bar protruding into the CHG area or the ECO area and I know I am 'gliding/coasting' as no matter how long I am in this sweet spot, even though the charge arrows are active, I DO NOT top up the battery at all, which says to me the car is indeed 'gliding' without the regenerative brakes or ICS in play and it certainly FEELS like I'm gliding as with over-inflated tires (44/42) the PIP seemingly coasts forever. I'm thinking this is a different behavior from a standard Prius in this 'glide' sweet spot, as, at least on my PIP, I can never get the MID to blank out in terms of energy flow. I.E. have you managed a 'pulse and glide' in a PIP getting the all energy flow arrows to disappear .
