Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Refuel Ready With A Picture Of Gas Pump On Display

Nov 1, 2012

I've owned Prius vehicles since 2003 and never saw this display: "Refuel Ready" with a picture of a gas pump. I took my car to the car wash and when it was done, I got in, and the display said "Refuel Ready". I hit the display button to change the display, and it just kept coming back. I still had about 1/4 tank. So I took it to the station and filled it and the display went away. What happened? What was that all about?

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Putting The Car In Ready Mode With Foot Off Brake For Fully Access Of 12V Battery?

Heading out on 4 week 3k mile road trip. Have 12v adaptors for a very efficient laptop and smartphone.

It seems that in "Accessory" mode the PIP is using only the dinky 12V battery so this is not a healthy solution. Is there a recommended strategy to put the car in semi-ready mode and reduce all possible drain so that utilizing the 12V will not be draining the traction battery reserves much at all?

I'm thinking that perhaps trying to put the car in "ready" mode with the FOOT OFF the brake indeed fires up access to the traction battery without firing up other things that require the full power monty that Ready mode with the FOOT ON the brake requires. Seems to me the PIP is a great mobile office solution if we could gain access to traction battery reserves without running much else.

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Display Audio Traffic On Map?

With the Display Audio Navigation system in my plugin base, I find that the traffic colors on the map don't appear automatically. Instead, I need to force the car to make a data connection by starting some other app. I use weather for this. Once I've started weather, I can switch back to map and immediately see the traffic-indication colors. If I just leave the display on map, traffic colors will not appear even after 20+ minutes of driving over the same route, so it's not a signal-strength/coverage problem. I've repeated these experiments numerous times with the same results.

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Multi-information Display Changes On Its Own?

Every day I stop at my mailbox to get the mail. I get out of the car with the FOB in my pocket and leave the car running. When I close the door the car beeps three times to let me know it's still on. This is exactly how my 2010 Prius operated. However, when I get back in the car the multi-information display always changes from the hybrid system indicator screen to the energy monitor screen. I always have the HSI on as default. This isn't a huge deal but it's kind of annoying. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change that I've missed?

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Display Average MPG For Current Tank Of Gas?

I just upgraded from a 2004 Prius Six to a 2012 Plug in Advanced. My wife used to love watching the average mpg for the current tank of gas as she drove, and wants to know where to find that display on the new car. For some reason, I just can't find it and couldn't find any reference to it in the FAQ. Am I missing something simple? That number was her favorite incentive.

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: HDD Display Screen Went Dark For A Minute Right After Start Up

Occasionally, right after I start the car, the HDD display screen will be dark for a minute or two, and then display the map. I can go to the other screens, like Audio or the setup screens, but the map and the backup camera screens are dark. The still-functional buttons are responsive as usual (no delays/hangs). When the map finally "wakes up", it behaves normally. I don't have to do anything other than wait for it to wake up. It does this about 10% of the time. I have tried to correlate this to something, but it seems totally random.

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Instrument Cluster Display Digital Shadow

Noticed a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow.

The one in my 07 Prius doesn't do this. Click on the pic below...

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Scheduled Timer For Plug-in Charge Only Shows Finish Time?

After my 25k service it seems the timer scheduler when the square button is pressed/held flashes at 7am. When i press the H button the hour advances to 12am then closes. I want to start the charge at 12am and finish at 5AM. The timer windows closes when i move the finish hour to 12am and then my regular clock hour changes. It used to be when i pressed/held the timer button the start time would show at 12 am and after setting it would go to the finish hour.

Prius (2004-09) :: Fuel Tank Broke Down Due To Refuel Flashing Light

We have a prius 2008. On December 2'nd we brought it to our dealership for a recall job done (campaign 182). I could not fill gas after that and the dealer insists that the fuel tank broke down because refuel light was flashing. How do I find out the reasons of fuel tank collapsing?

Prius (2004-09) :: Main Water Pump Leaking / Oil In Spark Plug

I have a small problem, the dealer that serviced my car just told me that my water pump was leaking and I was low on coolant. I can't remember when was the last time I checked the coolant level but when the dealer top off the coolant, he nearly used the entire bottle. Needless to say, I believe the radiator was pretty low on coolant.

Now I've never noticed a high temperature warning lamp or ever broken down. Today at 125,000 miles, I went to change my spark plugs. The 1st plug to the far left as you are facing the car has oil in the spark plug. This is freaking me out, could my engine be damaged from the low coolant?

Camry 2012+ :: 2014.5 XLE - Entune Display / Rear View Camera Display Not Lit Up

Today morning, when I started the car and backed out of the garage, the rear view camera display was not lit-up. Normally as I get out of the garage, it senses the change in outside lighting & changes the brightness of the display automatically.

After backing up, I put the car on Drive and then on Park, but the display was totally blank. No audio nor response by touching any buttons. Then I turned off the car & restarted it.

Then the display came up, but with this weird looking screen, which I have never seen before in the 5 months that I have owned this car..

It lasted for about 30-40 secs, with the progress bar moving all the way across. Then everything was back to normal!.

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: PiP Vs V5?

I am about to finish up my graduate studies here in Ohio, after which, my wife and I will be headed back to California. We are in desperate need of a second car, but have decided to wait until we move to get one. My wonderful in laws have said that they are willing to split the cost of a new car with us. With that said, we have already decided that we want to get a Prius, but we can't decide which one. We both really like the V. We love how roomy the car is. This is very important to us because we are going to start a family soon. However, we also like the regular Prius and the PiP. I really like the PiP but am a little concerned about the new batteries, and I am not sure that I want to pay the early adapter premium assuming one is even available. But, only paying half for a PiP sounds rather tempting. Considering all that I just said, if you were in my shoes what car would you get and why?

Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: While Gliding ICS Goes Off

New to the Prius family. Bought a 2014 PIP advanced last week strictly as an economic play. Am noob when it comes to driving techniques, currently average 72 mpg on 90 mi. trips with one charge, so doing better than I expected. I did read up on the Pulse and Glide techniques for the standard Prius and the 'verification' of the glide portion for those is the lack of any power arrows emanating from either the ICS , MG2 or battery on the MID. I have been unable to replicate this on the PIP. In other words, when I am 'gliding' on my PIP, the ICS is off but there always seems to be a green charge indicator flowing back to the batteries from the front wheels.

Keep in mind, my foot is on the accelerator slightly, there is no 'white' bar protruding into the CHG area or the ECO area and I know I am 'gliding/coasting' as no matter how long I am in this sweet spot, even though the charge arrows are active, I DO NOT top up the battery at all, which says to me the car is indeed 'gliding' without the regenerative brakes or ICS in play and it certainly FEELS like I'm gliding as with over-inflated tires (44/42) the PIP seemingly coasts forever. I'm thinking this is a different behavior from a standard Prius in this 'glide' sweet spot, as, at least on my PIP, I can never get the MID to blank out in terms of energy flow. I.E. have you managed a 'pulse and glide' in a PIP getting the all energy flow arrows to disappear .
