Can I use the remote climate control switch to heat the cabin during cold mornings as well as cool the cabin during hot summer days?
View 8 RepliesI've found it difficult trying to turn on the climate control in EV mode without engaging the ICE, especially on sunny mornings where it might be relatively cool outside (about 16-18 C/60-65 F) but the cabin is heating up quickly. I usually have it set to around 20-23 C (68-73 F) but usually in these conditions the ICE will start immediately after turning on the fans (AC off). How to avoid this? Or do I just need to set the climate control to "Lo" at the end of my previous journey? I've never been able to turn down the temperature quickly enough after turning it on without the ICE starting.
View 5 RepliesI can't seem to get my heated seats to come on when I use the remote start. Is this possible? I assume the supplemental heater comes on behind the scenes. Is there a temperature differential between the climate setting and the outside temperature? If so what is the delta? If it's 40 degrees outside and my climate is set at 60 degrees...will the supplemental heater come on? How about the rear window defroster and heated seats, can I make them come on when remote started? Same question for the seat cooling...in a few months.

I have a 2000 yukon and the climate control stopped working. The defrost works just fine but the heater/ac stopped working nothing blows out from my vents when ac/heater setting is on. I checked all fuses and wires and everything is ok and connected. I just replaced my cd player and the next day climate control stopped working. I went back and checked the wireing of the cd player as well, everything is fine. Would i need a new climate control, or senser or is there a fuse on the heater itself.

Whenever I tried to turn it on, it takes more than 1 min, then finally shows "Climate activation was not successful Please try again". All other apps such as vehicle finder, charger management work well.
View 9 RepliesRecently my Climate Control System on Gen 3 has been misbehaving. A few weeks ago, I could not get cold air out of the AC, and then just as quickly as it stopped working, it started working again. Then yesterday, I started noticing coolant temps on the Scan Gauge rising to 215 - 220 F, which seemed quite a bit higher than the 195 limit I had set for operating with grill blocking, so I turned on the Heater and brought it down to 195, and when I got home, I checked and the coolant level seems OK, and it was under pressure.

It insists on switching from filter to outside air after three minutes, which sucks back in all the Diesel fumes and dust I just finished filtering. I would very much like to disable the timer. I'm not afraid of cutting wires.
View 14 RepliesLately, in my 2004, with the climate control OFF, and recirculate setting OFF (outside air selection), I seem to still be getting cold air in thru the vents. The air flow selections are all working appropriately between defroster, feet, vent. When I select the OFF button, the fan stops but the last selected air flow stays highlighted - and the OFF button is still black (or, unselected).
QUESTION - I swear I remember the OFF button highlighting when turning the climate control OFF. Am I just imagining this or could it be the source of my air leak? Is your climate control OFF button highlighted when you turn your climate control off. I need a reality check.
I got Prius 2013 with Advanced package (with Dynamic Cruise control etc.). I am having hard time starting the A/C remotely, even after I followed the manual. I pressed A/C button on my key fob, but the AC doesn't turn on.

View 15 RepliesLast year my oem remote starter worked great. This year when I start the car with the remote start the climate controls do not power on until I insert the key and turn it. I've pulled just about every fuse out, in and under the hood and can't find the problem. Not sure where to go from here.

I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.
It gets really cold in the winter (-30 C is common). Now I'm wondering how does the A/C button on the remote work? Is it literally just for remote air conditioning or can it also be used in freezing temperatures to remotely start the car to warm it up?
Normally I don't warm up my car but when it's been sitting outside in -20C or colder I sometimes let it run a few minutes just to clear the windshield before I drive.
If the A/C button doesn't work the heat also in the freezing cold, will this kit for the regular Prius work?
If the following variables are true:
-Extremely cold day out (highs in the single digits)
-Will be hauling around people that like a very warm car
-Will be in a lot of stops and go traffic
Is the best practice to charge only to about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way full (according to the battery graphic on the HSI)? My thinking is the ICE will be running a lot while stopped at stop lights and waiting in traffic. And I might as well have somewhere for all that extra energy to go. I know we are kind of splitting hairs here, but I wanted to think about this situation before it actually came up.
Is there anyway to adjust the cabin temperature while the fans are off? I like to drive with the vents open but want to adjust the temps up/down without having to turn on the fans.
View 3 Replies If the remote AC button is pressed in middle of winter does it turn on the heat and if yes, does it stay on long enough to actually get some heat going.
For example, if I press it while car is in the garage and it turns on (auto temp set to 70 when it's maybe only 25 in garage), if I go out in 5 or 10 minutes will it have actually heated things up a little? Hope so because that would be better than going into garage, starting it up and going back inside.
When in EV mode, there are times that I approach a hill where I want to be in pure HV mode, so I switch to HV just before reaching the hill, and the system appears to switch over. However, the EV miles continue to drop as I proceed up the hill. Is this normal, or should I be switching much earlier?
View 6 RepliesAn interesting thing happened at the gym today. While getting my 15 ft extension out at the Gym I apparently hit my reboot switch. Coming back out I unplugged and started, only to find out I had no power. Right away I knew what had happened, so I crawled back there and hit the switch up again. To my surprise, I now had a 14 mile range as compared to the usual 10.8. Apparently the traction battery liked sitting in the warm sun today. To reboot or not, that is the dilemma. There are many naysayers to this procedure, but I say they really have not tried it.
