Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: HUD Display On Advance Floats Downward?
Nov 4, 2012
I've noticed the HUD heads up display, shifted downward and noticeable upon start up. Could this be a hardware issue?

View 1 RepliesWith the Display Audio Navigation system in my plugin base, I find that the traffic colors on the map don't appear automatically. Instead, I need to force the car to make a data connection by starting some other app. I use weather for this. Once I've started weather, I can switch back to map and immediately see the traffic-indication colors. If I just leave the display on map, traffic colors will not appear even after 20+ minutes of driving over the same route, so it's not a signal-strength/coverage problem. I've repeated these experiments numerous times with the same results.
View 4 RepliesThis is different from the MPG display that was on my 2010 Gen 3. Is there a way to set the display to show one decimal place.
View 3 RepliesEvery day I stop at my mailbox to get the mail. I get out of the car with the FOB in my pocket and leave the car running. When I close the door the car beeps three times to let me know it's still on. This is exactly how my 2010 Prius operated. However, when I get back in the car the multi-information display always changes from the hybrid system indicator screen to the energy monitor screen. I always have the HSI on as default. This isn't a huge deal but it's kind of annoying. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change that I've missed?
View 6 RepliesI just upgraded from a 2004 Prius Six to a 2012 Plug in Advanced. My wife used to love watching the average mpg for the current tank of gas as she drove, and wants to know where to find that display on the new car. For some reason, I just can't find it and couldn't find any reference to it in the FAQ. Am I missing something simple? That number was her favorite incentive.
View 3 RepliesOccasionally, right after I start the car, the HDD display screen will be dark for a minute or two, and then display the map. I can go to the other screens, like Audio or the setup screens, but the map and the backup camera screens are dark. The still-functional buttons are responsive as usual (no delays/hangs). When the map finally "wakes up", it behaves normally. I don't have to do anything other than wait for it to wake up. It does this about 10% of the time. I have tried to correlate this to something, but it seems totally random.
View 4 RepliesI've owned Prius vehicles since 2003 and never saw this display: "Refuel Ready" with a picture of a gas pump. I took my car to the car wash and when it was done, I got in, and the display said "Refuel Ready". I hit the display button to change the display, and it just kept coming back. I still had about 1/4 tank. So I took it to the station and filled it and the display went away. What happened? What was that all about?
View 6 RepliesNoticed a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow.
The one in my 07 Prius doesn't do this. Click on the pic below...
After my 25k service it seems the timer scheduler when the square button is pressed/held flashes at 7am. When i press the H button the hour advances to 12am then closes. I want to start the charge at 12am and finish at 5AM. The timer windows closes when i move the finish hour to 12am and then my regular clock hour changes. It used to be when i pressed/held the timer button the start time would show at 12 am and after setting it would go to the finish hour.
View 8 RepliesI'm Not sure what is up with my headlights but when I'm Driving I can barely see the road cuz the beams seem to point downward. Looking out my windshield there's like a cutoff line where I see light on bottom, But higher up it's dark. Have to put high beams on so many times to see the road. Many people mention that my lights are horrible. I've stood outside looking at them with lights in and the lights themselves don't look particularly Different. Just suddenly lights are almost useless.
View 13 RepliesThe instrument panel on my Prius (speedometer, fuel gauge, etc. on the dash) keeps going out intermittently. Took it to the Toyota place and of course the lights were back on.
View 4 RepliesToday morning, when I started the car and backed out of the garage, the rear view camera display was not lit-up. Normally as I get out of the garage, it senses the change in outside lighting & changes the brightness of the display automatically.
After backing up, I put the car on Drive and then on Park, but the display was totally blank. No audio nor response by touching any buttons. Then I turned off the car & restarted it.
Then the display came up, but with this weird looking screen, which I have never seen before in the 5 months that I have owned this car..
It lasted for about 30-40 secs, with the progress bar moving all the way across. Then everything was back to normal!.
I am about to finish up my graduate studies here in Ohio, after which, my wife and I will be headed back to California. We are in desperate need of a second car, but have decided to wait until we move to get one. My wonderful in laws have said that they are willing to split the cost of a new car with us. With that said, we have already decided that we want to get a Prius, but we can't decide which one. We both really like the V. We love how roomy the car is. This is very important to us because we are going to start a family soon. However, we also like the regular Prius and the PiP. I really like the PiP but am a little concerned about the new batteries, and I am not sure that I want to pay the early adapter premium assuming one is even available. But, only paying half for a PiP sounds rather tempting. Considering all that I just said, if you were in my shoes what car would you get and why?
View 12 RepliesRecently I changed the 12 volt battery of my Prius 2012. Now the Energy Monitor arrows are missing. When the car is moving there is not arrows displaying. The only thing that appears is the battery charging, I can see when is low and full, but that's it. How can I turn on the animation?
View 19 RepliesI just brought home my 2012 Prius C and when I turn on the headlights the brightness of the touch screen and the animation display is way too bright. I have figured out how to dim the odometer and speed lights using the knob on the left of the steering wheel, but is there any way to dim the others? It's very distracting and irritates my eyes.
View 1 RepliesJust wondering, is there a recommended procedure or speed range to shift in or out of EV mode while operating, or should it be done while the car is stopped?
View 2 RepliesNew to the Prius family. Bought a 2014 PIP advanced last week strictly as an economic play. Am noob when it comes to driving techniques, currently average 72 mpg on 90 mi. trips with one charge, so doing better than I expected. I did read up on the Pulse and Glide techniques for the standard Prius and the 'verification' of the glide portion for those is the lack of any power arrows emanating from either the ICS , MG2 or battery on the MID. I have been unable to replicate this on the PIP. In other words, when I am 'gliding' on my PIP, the ICS is off but there always seems to be a green charge indicator flowing back to the batteries from the front wheels.
Keep in mind, my foot is on the accelerator slightly, there is no 'white' bar protruding into the CHG area or the ECO area and I know I am 'gliding/coasting' as no matter how long I am in this sweet spot, even though the charge arrows are active, I DO NOT top up the battery at all, which says to me the car is indeed 'gliding' without the regenerative brakes or ICS in play and it certainly FEELS like I'm gliding as with over-inflated tires (44/42) the PIP seemingly coasts forever. I'm thinking this is a different behavior from a standard Prius in this 'glide' sweet spot, as, at least on my PIP, I can never get the MID to blank out in terms of energy flow. I.E. have you managed a 'pulse and glide' in a PIP getting the all energy flow arrows to disappear .
I am thinking of upgrading to a pip. I work in my car and was wondering if I plug it in can I still have the a/c running while it is plugged in or not? i read somewhere that if you turn the car into ready mode the systems won't allow it.
View 6 RepliesWe just picked up our PIP and are super excited......except that the GPS is locked on Kentucky? It does not locate us here in Sacramento, CA and the dealer said if we can't get it working, they obviously will be fixing it.
View 11 RepliesNew car. I think I could toggle between EV (green light) and HV (red light). Now instead of HV the car does switch between EV and EV/ECO. Am I doing something wrong. I want to avoid a trip to the dealer.
View 4 RepliesWhen I get in to go somewhere in the morning sometimes the EV sign in the car is lit up and sometimes it is just the silhouette of the car on the right side. I know I am driving in Ev and it says Ev in the light on the left side but why the difference. Am I making any sense??
