On average, how many miles do you average between fill ups. I understand that this is all dependent on everyone's respective commutes, road conditions, ability to charge at work, etc., but i'm interested to know what you all do on average.
I'm still on my first tank and have 905 miles with one bar left on my tank.
I've had my PiP a month now. When ave temps were in the 30's EV range read 12.4 and I usually got an extra mile on my drives. With warming temps I was getting a read of 12.8 lately and 13.0 for the first time this morning. Thats with daytime temps of 60 but overnight it was still just upper 30's.

My wife used to love watching the average mpg for the current tank of gas as she drove, and wants to know where to find that display on the new car. For some reason, I just can't find it and couldn't find any reference to it in the FAQ. Am I missing something simple? That number was her favorite incentive.

View 3 RepliesSince purchase, I've had one gas fill up at 694 miles. That was four or five weeks ago and it's still full. My EV ratio is 65% (1100 miles) and will continue to increase. I realize I'm carrying a lot of dead weigh for weeks. For those with high EV mode use, what's your recommendation with gas fill ups? I'm thinking no more than fives gallons for daily commute and around town.

To explain, I regularly travel between two homes with charging capabilities. One is three miles from the highway, the other one mile. If I use EV driving to and from the highway, and travel on the highway in HV above 65 MPH, I arrive at the other destination with about 10 miles of unused EV mile capability. I would like to use this extra electricity to improve my HV mileage.
I am very disappointed with my Toyota Plug-in because I have only had it 2 months and have 1400 miles on car. When I first charged it up with the 110 volt charger supplied with the car, I got 13.5 miles to use up before the car went off battery. Then on recharges, every two or three times when the battery recharged the usable mileage dropped by a 1/10 a point. I now have only 9.5 miles to use before I go off battery. When I first got the car I could go to work and have 3 miles extra to go home on. Now I cannot get all the way to work. I wonder how low it is going to go? I took it into Gladstone Toyota and had the service department look at it. They said after they recharged it and found it to be only 9.5 and that there is nothing they can do unless the red warning light comes on saying that the battery is defective. I asked them how low the battery would go and still considered normal, and they said they did not know. So I guess I will keep loosing free electric miles.
My getting progressive lower usable mileage has nothing to do with my driving habits as they have been the same since I started driving the car.
Got my PHV on May 10th.
First charge showed an estimated range of 12.4.
Second charge showed 11.x. 3rd showed 10.x.
Now and for the last three weeks it only shows 9.4!
Charging with 115v.
When in EV mode, there are times that I approach a hill where I want to be in pure HV mode, so I switch to HV just before reaching the hill, and the system appears to switch over. However, the EV miles continue to drop as I proceed up the hill. Is this normal, or should I be switching much earlier?
View 6 RepliesMy wife and I have 2013 PIP (His and Hers) and we compete for highest EV miles. Her car has had consistently recharged with 14- 15 estimated EV miles. This morning she called me and said as she left the garage she noticed that EV miles were 18.4. I thought wow wish mine did that. We just finished charging hers again and I went out to verify and I was blown away when I saw 20.9 EV miles. This can't be correct, what could be happening?

Deplete all EV range and Prius goes into HV mode
After engine warms up, skillful use of the accelerator can keep the system in "EV" mode by not going to the RIGHT of the throttle indicator. I have been able to drive a few miles in HV mode, but only using EV without the ICE firing up.
What I noticed is that those pseudo EV miles are counted against the HV range and NOT the EV range. I worked hard to get that extra mile of EV. It would be nice if it didn't count against HV!
I was wondering how accurate the estimated miles in the tank is? For the next two days I will have a 204 mile commute. The Prius estimates I have 210 miles left. Should I be able to make it?

View 11 RepliesAs I was trying to use up as much E10 before refueling with E0 I was watching the miles to empty and noticed what seems strange, to me. When driving in EV mode, with the ICE off the miles to empty kept falling! Apparently miles to empty somehow includes EV miles. So I checked the MTE both before and after charging and saw no change which indicates EV miles don't count. So now I would like to know what does MTE mean?
View 19 RepliesI have had my PIP for just about one month now and I have only filled up twice. This car is awesome! I noticed when I filled up the last few times that the last block on the fuel gauge started blinking and my miles to empty reading was pretty low. However, when I filled up the tank, it only took around 9,2 gallons. Doesn't this car have a 10.6 gallon tank?
View 19 RepliesMy 2006 GS300 has oil burning issue after 80k miles now my odo is at 110k miles. I have changed my oil every 5000 miles, keep burning about 1 quart every 1k miles average. Literally burnt about 20 quarts of an oil with premium fuel. At 105k miles, I had replaced my bank 2 sensor 2 after the check engine light and vsc light came on, reset the code those lights came right back on.
Check the code again, found out bad cat converter between passenger side sensors. The recalls has been done at 65k miles at dealer. My questions are :
-What would be the cause of burning that much of an oil? No leaking on floor or bad smell.
-Is burnt oil causing the failure of cat converter?
-If I replace the cat, will it go bad again?
I wonder if our Azeras automatically reset an AMPG on a trip computer after each fill ups like Sonata does?
View 8 RepliesAfter my 25k service it seems the timer scheduler when the square button is pressed/held flashes at 7am. When i press the H button the hour advances to 12am then closes. I want to start the charge at 12am and finish at 5AM. The timer windows closes when i move the finish hour to 12am and then my regular clock hour changes. It used to be when i pressed/held the timer button the start time would show at 12 am and after setting it would go to the finish hour.
View 8 RepliesOk, so I've had my '16 SE for about 3 weeks. Last night, I noticed the tire pressure was way too high (41lbs in the front and 39lbs in the back). So, I let the car sit overnight, and set all 4 tires to 33lbs this morning.
Ever since I did that, every time I turn the car off, the Average MPG display (on the dash) keeps resetting to 0. I took about 5 trips today, and it keeps happening. The ECO app on the radio shows my previous trips, so I know that the data isn't being lost somewhere, it's just not being displayed anymore. Basically it's acting like I trip MPG system now.
What could cause this, or what setting I should change to fix this? I messed around with it for about an hour, and can't figure it out.
I have an issue that keeps recurring intermittently that I cannot seem to figure out. The car is a 2006 Sonata with a 4-cylinder and about 130k miles. It started about 6 months ago when the check engine light came on 25 miles or so after a fill up. The code shown was P2097 (Post catalyst system too rich.) I reset the light by disconnecting the battery. I tried adding some gas dryer and premium fuel and that seemed to work, but the light would intermittently come on. I also replaced the spark plugs (put dielectric grease on the boots) and had the exhaust system checked for leaks. I also put in fuel injector cleaner several times and cleaned the MAF sensor. In April, the light was coming on quite often, so I replaced the post catalyst oxygen sensor and reset the light.
The light stayed off for 600 miles or so and then came back on. This time the code is P0420 (catalytic converter efficiency). An exhaust system shop said that there does not appear to be anything wrong with the exhaust system including the catalytic converter itself. The car does have a slight miss at idle, but performs fine other than that. Also, if the car is not driven for a few days, there is some valve train noised when the engine is first started which lasts about 5 seconds.
I've been driving my 2012 elantra for 3 years now, and the average mpg (on the screen) fluctuates anywhere from 18 to 25 during any given trip (I don't take long trips - after 3 years I only have 14,000 miles on the car). I rarely drive on highways, so I'd expect the average mpg to be in the lower range -- but my lease is up and I'm trying to figure out if this is just a gas guzzler or if there's some malfunction of this tool, or if it's something inherent in the way I'm driving.
