Prius (Gen 4) :: Disable Open Hatch Warning Beep?
Aug 15, 2016
I need to transport some long pieces of wood and would like to disable the open hatch warning beeping. Is this something I can do with Carista and the OBD2 device?

View 7 RepliesHow I can disable that annoying beep that occurs when driving over the speed limit? I've tried turning off the beep in the general settings that has not affected it.
View 5 RepliesI'll sometimes transport item that are long and I need them to stick out of the glass hatch. Unfortunately then the warning light comes on and continually buzzes. Is there any way to turn this off?
View 3 RepliesPower hatch stop working? I get a long beep and nothing. Won't open or close, it has to be done manually. My next oil change is in 1-2 months so I was going to have it looked at then by Lexus under warranty. Nothing seems stuck in the latch.
View 8 RepliesEverytime I open the door to get out of my 08 LS460 the warning bell rings incessantly.
The only thing I can think of is that I'm usually in a parking garage and the lights are on due to the auto-feature on the lights. But, I think sometimes it rings even though the lights aren't on.
Sometimes you open the door but don't jump right out of the car. Is there anyway to disable this ringing bell?
I have a 2011 Prius Three. After about a month of owning it, I had the dealer disable the back-up beeping so it only beeps once when backing. I'd like to disable the "key not detected" beep.

View 2 RepliesI've had my PIP for a week now My main complaint, so far, is the back-up beep, which of course does nothing for safety but distract the driver. On my 2005 Prius, which I traded for the 2012 PIP, I could go through a [somewhat complicated] procedure to disable the beep, but it doesn't work for the 2012. but any fix one can implement oneself? On general principles, I resist taking it into the dealership for the fix.
View 3 RepliesI picked up a bluetooth OBDII scanner and plugged it up, and tried following the instructions found on this forum. Only problem is, every time I run 3b ac 40, I just get a return of NO DATA.
View 2 RepliesTook the car to the dealer, said "just turn off the beeps, all of them." The rep. said come back in an hour. Most of the beeps are off now, but I have an odd pair of problems.
1.) The rear hatch no longer beeps when open, but it also has no longer has the SKS function.
2.) The front seat belts no longer beep, but the front dome light no longer has an on-when-door-is-open function.
3) I'm waiting to see what bizarre side effects come from the single reverse beep.
The rep. says these are side effects from killing the beeps, that the nuisance beeps are tied to these two functions and that the only way to restore them is to bring back the beeps. He claims that the front beeps & dome light are triggered by a sensor inside the door that is part of the door latch, that when this sensor is disabled all its functions stop. I think he said it's the same problem with the rear hatch and its SKS.
This is a simple post: Rear hatch won't open from outside; latch seems to be toasted. It can be released from inside, and will open then, as you imagine this is very inconvenient.
View 6 RepliesHow do you open the hatch from inside? Is it any easier than in previous models?
View 19 RepliesActually its inconsistent. Many times with the car running and in park, I jump out to access the rear hatch. Sometimes it will open and sometimes it will not. When it doesn't open, I have to turn off the car and then the hatch opens.
View 5 RepliesThe hatchback on my 2005 prius wont open from the outside. It will open from the inside. It will unlock all of the doors when I lift up on the handle. I've tried looking for the actuator. Where it is located? I have the panel off of the inside of the hatchback. Wires look OK.
View 14 RepliesMy Prius is unlocked and the hatch will not open. When I press the button on the hatch nothing happens. What could the problem be?
View 4 RepliesI just picked my 2008 Prius up from the dealer after having 4 new tires put on, after a blowout. When I went to open the hatch to make sure my spare and tools were all put back, the hatch would not open. It's a keyless model and the doors all unlock when I put my hand underneath the handle and I can lock them with the black button but the hatch will not open. I manually opened the hatch, thinking maybe the technician got something stuck in the latch when he closed it but did not find anything to be there. Does it sound like the handle itself is bad or maybe an actuator? In my searches, I've found many cases where people have replaced the handle due to it "melting," but nothing similar to what I'm experiencing.
View 19 RepliesI've got a cheap little ELM327 dongle that I was able to use to fix the dreaded backup beep on my 2013 Trim 2. What I'm looking for now are the codes to change the keyfob function so that the first press of the unlock button hits all the doors and the hatch - currently it just unlocks the driver door. (note: this is distinct from the number of doors that unlock when I touch the driver handle - I am aware of the "press both buttons" trick for that).
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to open the rear hatch if battery is disconnected either from the inside or outside? Is there a cable or something for emergency?
View 2 RepliesOn occasion I have to haul something (bicycle) that wont let me close hatch. Can I turn off buzzer. I have an hour transport coming up.
View 2 RepliesThis is the second year I've owned my 2007 Prius, and it seems to be getting worse.
In the summer, the hatch will open with ease! The handle recognizes my hand there and unlocks the hatch and whammo bammo we're in business. In the winter, especially the really really cold weather like we're having now (down to about 10 over night) the hatch refuses to open.
I have a 2007 Level 3 Prius with about 110k miles. I now have a problem that I am not sure how to fix. Perhaps because of the warmer weather the rubber that you press to get the hatch open has gotten kind of sticky. Sometimes your fingers will get some sticky black on them. I was starting to think that I should look into replacing this rubber. The hatch was sometimes getting hard to open.
Well, we just took this big 1300 mile drive from central Florida to western NY. We are now in 9 degree weather. I cannot get the hatch to open at all. The other day it stuck but after a few attempts and carefully pressing down on the hatch without hurting the spoiler I got it to open. I first thought it was just because things were packed tightly, but now nothing is back there and I cannot get the hatch to open.
I think I have resigned myself to the fact that I wont fix this until I'm back in sunny warm weather. Any thoughts on how to get this to open? And if I do get it to open will I be able to close it again? It feels like there is no longer any "give" to where you press the rubber to open the hatch.
